You shouldn't worry about the grav-plates : once you know the Diamondback (something I didn't until checking the link), they do seem close enough!
As for the turret, I agree it could be bigger. How about a Wave Serpent turret? Though it'll be good as is, no worries...

Thanks guys

@Bigmek and Yggdrasil - The wave serpent turret is a great idea... now I need to try and source just a turret... damnit (watch this space)

@Asherian command - Its mostly landspeeder with lots of fiddly plasticard gubbinz... how much time do you have?

@Imperial Monkey - There has been a lot of surgery going on around here Most of it gets put back together again though!

Some more WIPs of the diamondback. At this point its pretty much finished in my view (except for the potential wave serpent experiment). Just need to add some detailing to the back side of the grav pads for interest and GS in the holes around the new enclosed cockpit. I have this funny feeling that I never want to enclose a landspeeder cockpit ever again ever! Far too fiddly and annoying. Its a good job that the Vultures are easy to do

As Bigmek indicated, it is only a Land Speeder after all. I've never been that fond of ultra-macro weapons in this game either, but I am keen to see if I can source a Wave Serpent turret to replace the current one. Might bring it back up to the original silhouette a bit more.

I'm planning on having a squadron of 3 Ravenwing bikes to help call in the heavies. 2 of them will have meltas and I was wondering what to fill the gap in the squad sarge's bike. Random footling today has led to the following:

Representative of the squad's Teleport Homer ability or too much? I've also got a bunch of Tau comms bits I could use instead but I wanted to use proper a bit more dodgy looking imperial tech on the bike

Looks good. Fits in nicely, not too over-powering, I like it, don't think the tau bits would work as well. And where does that console come from?

Thanks for the feedback as always.

@Monkeytroll - The bike handlebars are just from the scout bike. They just aren't being hidden by the normal front cowling bit.

@ph34r and Yggdrasil - no scout bikes in the Ravenwing :(

Not really... I have been trying to sort out some cheap bits off e-bay, but I am losing patience and if I don't win any of the current auctions I'm bidding on I shall wend my merry way to GW and buy a pile of new raw materials

I'm also amassing some further electroncs with a vague plan to add actual lights to my medic following this recipe. I tried lighting a tank once and it didn't go quite as intended, but hopefully I have learned to simplify

Hmm.. thinking about it I am also waiting for my Old Crow order to arrive so I can whomp up a half-assed Siege tank... This is kinda frustrating

Vindicator = Siegetank. Yeah I can see that.

Definately a Vindicator. It will be pre-upgrade and therefore unable to deploy as artillery. It also allows me to fix the turret in place to match the forward-firing nature of the Vindicator demolisher cannon. I've got a lot of ideas for the turret, but I need to wait until I get the chassis sorted out before starting.

I picked up another box of Stealthsuits so I can at least progress the Zealot squad a bit more. They need a sergeant and a banner bearer (and probably a casualty for the Medic base) so I'll have a go at playing with the SS legs a bit to vary the squad.

More quietness and little advance, but I have managed to get some more GS work done and my Medic pretty much sorted out. Just need to whomp up her head and visor set. She even has a casualty to play with The casualty will be worked over a bit more for battle damage and wounds. Note I will not be adding blades to this guy as they are supposed to be energised by the user's psychic power and this guy is out of it.

With the addition of the medic and standard bearer the Zealots are pretty much sorted now. Just need to attach the shoulder pads. I will need to build up the bases a little I think, but I'm classing that as an army wide problem for later The "standard bearer" is actually carrying some kind of specialist comms array or something that helps with coordination between squad members and therefore the extra attack... or something like that

My specialists are also a bit more advanced. the Firebat just needs his legs trimmed and build up again, while my Marauder has his pose sorted out but is still missing a second grenade launcher. Need to pick up another couple of Scout bikes to get the GLs for this guy as well as the other bts needed for the Vultures.

And speaking of Vultures, here they are in the foreground approximately half completed. I'm bored of waiting for E-bay to provide so off to GW i go

And a couple of other random group shots to round out the update:

Other stuff yet to be started:
- Nova to go with the Ghost sniper squad (She has a head but nothing else thus far)
- Siege Tank
- General Warfield and his Confederate marine squad
- Swann to lead Tychus's squad (Tychus ust can't be trusted to do anything other than blow stuff up, of course... gotta have some kind of cool head in the squad )

Nice, tons of progress! They look even better en masse, especially the visors which look better when the very individual poses are viewed from a distance.

Now you just need some RTS rules for the tabletop...

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
