The paper mache was fun but boy is it going to take a long time to dry. I will be adding some more height and other details soon.

Anytime buddy! I have been trying to get Lego, and Yakface to make a terrain forum! I figure that the more I help promote the few amazing terrain threads the better our chances are of getting our own piece of Dakka! Between Dave and I we get at least 50 to 100 views a day! ( more Dave then me.:( ) Us terrain guys gotta sick together!

Interesting, can you explain the toilet paper? I'm guessing you mix water and glue, soak and pile it on? The idea is to add substrate and bulk out the ground with dirt and add bits on top? What is the dried product like? I've worked heavily with glue water mixtures, never used toilet paper though

Yes, mix water and glue ,soak and mold into shape. I use toilet paper because it actually melts and turns into a gelatinous goo. I have inserted flocking and bits to add depth to the crater. You have to let it dry for at least 36 hours, also once it's dry I will go over it again with a heavier water to glue ratio. The end result it pretty darn hard!
PS it's still not dry...

Thanks buddy I may have to take you up on that one day Check out my new trade thread/ebay - my 50 CSM and 21 IG currently have no bids - could get them for a low, low £1 (+P&P) - plenty of bodies to litter the ruins with (and I'd rather you get them cheap and make terrain with them than someone else)

Is it vinyl or anything? It looks like something you'd find in a cheap happy meal knock-off.

It is actually quite a nice vinyl! I was surprised to see how nice it was after Paul warned me about. Paul has a keen eye for these types of things. It definitely needs to be mounted though.

Adding some 3d elements to it after mounting might make it nicer, but the idea that it is able to be rolled up and stored away from game to game doesn't really fly. It's also quite good for premesuring things for a clever gamer.

I got it on the cheap so it is more esthetic than anything. Stackable flat runs will be easy to store as well and I have a whole room/office to keep them in. When your in town you'll have to stop by for a game!

Actually, upon viewing the various photos, they are rather lack luster. Not very creative, it's just thousands of dollars spent on lots of kits. The more I look at it the worse it gets.

That's one of the tables at Warhammer World in Nottingham - having seen it in person it is very boring and sterile - it doesn't even look like most of it is painted to be honest - there is no rubble, no debris, no street barricades etc.
There is another table at WHW that is much better - I know someone took pictures of it at the last Dakka meet there so I will see if I can find them...
