The UK doesnt seem all that foreign- until you guys start talking about food. I will note with some amusement- you explain what crisps are, but most people here in the US are going 'wtf is a sarnie?' (its a sandwich).

My room mate ate my last brownie :( So I might be scrounging through the pantry for something to bake once it cools down.

I'm usually not all that into chain restaurants, but living in the god forsaken sticks as I do I occaisionally have to eat at Chili's. That said...

The Jalapeno Smokehouse Burger from there is outstanding. Particularly with 44 Oz. of Shipyard Brown Ale.

I'm on-the-road, heading to New Orleans. Stopped tonight in Winona, Mississippi. Went to a local BBQ place - the type with a bowl of peanuts on the table and weird ancient decorations on the walls. Had a half-slab of ribs, some buffalo chicken pieces, and real southern peach cobbler.

Yesterday, we went to a cajun place called Mulate's (this place was featured in Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt) and ordered the sampler...

Fried gator, frog legs, crawfish, a type of sausage called Boudin, fried catfish, and some sort of fried mushroom (in case we needed a vegetable).

Also went to Cafe du Mond, and had beignets, which are a sort of donut-esque food.

And too much various alcohol on Bourbon street too. Waiting for the rest of the party to wake up so we can go get our cajun breakfast.

Thin mints.....those can be sniffed out with relative ease by anyone with a mild chocolate or mint craving

If you ever feel domestic, I actually have a super easy recipe for home made thin mints. Everyone I tell about it scoffs- until they try it and theyre pleasantly surprised they dont have to mug girl scouts anymore

Hehehe- you dont even have to bake them! But depending on the chocolate you use- you might have to refridgerate them.

Mint choclate chips(usually next to the regular choc chips in a decent grocery store)
Ritz crackers.

Melt the chips(look up how to do a double boiler so you dont scorch it).

Dip a Ritz in to it, place on wax paper(or other flexible non stick surface). Repeat, and then chill/refridgerate.

If you want to get fancier(and have less melty chocolate) you can find some confectioners chocolate, and add mint extract to it. It has a higher melting point, but isnt likely to be at your grocery store. And mint extract can be a pain in the butt to find. At least around here

It sounds odd with the ritz crackers, but theyre like a 90% match- theyre cheaper and you can make them year round

Y'know the Walmart brand mint cookies taste remarkably like the GS thin mints.... unlike Grasshopper cookies.
