Abaddon...is a noob...even though his model owns...i dont like the look of it...plus, i look at 13th black crusade as Dday, it would be like if the US, England and Canada took the beaches at normandy, and then never got anywhere else(not how it actually happened) and just got stuck there forever

Just a point for those saying that Abbadon doesn't have access to many forces- heresy hides on many an imperial world. The main force of the black crusades are the Lost and the Damned, the legions of downtrodden and embittered muties, worker scrubs and cultist scum that infest worlds across the imperium. The Ordo Hereticus is the biggest for a reason- they've a hell of a job keeping the many and varied seditionists under control. Chaos Marines are like the figure heads of the whole thing- morale boosters for the Chaos forces (unstoppable immortal warriors of the Gods) and a major fear factor for your average Guard regiment. They're also, like Space Marines "power at a point". The Imperial Guard might have eighty bajillion men, but it's slow to deploy and react on the field. Marines can go in, get a job done and get out. War isn't all massive pitched battles across giant fronts.

Abbadon though, well he's hated because they can't give him a big win. I think he's pretty cool though- especially his Gothic fluff.

Sounds like the defense of a consummate failure.

Apart from being able to kill himself...

The 13th Black Crusade is currently frozen in its opening stages. It isn't a failure or success yet.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

Hey if a chick cosplayed as abaddon I'd marry her.

So long as she took that smiley face off the armor.

Anyway this:

Abaddon is fearless. If you ever take his terminator bodyguard in a game, the one he ALWAYS HAS, ALL THE TIME then he loses fearlessness and the squad, along with abaddon, can be broken and even chased down.

And he's apparently lost mastery over Drachnyen, which he always had. So now he can cut himself.

He can be killed, fairly easily, by many other special characters currently in the game.

He still can't manage a 3+ invul save, like any schmuck good guy marine can.

He doesn't improve the army at all, and really has no special rules of his own.

The one issue again with abaddon is that GW doesnt want to foreward the plot (as i believe i posted back a ways), so he fails due to the imperiums Plot Armour.
Now if GW were to not make Abaddon act like a tactical dunce, and give him the credit his fluff says he has, then he might get some restecpa (in the words of a jewish man from stains).

ehhh, sorry if this has been covered, only read a couple pages worth of this. Abaddon sucks no doubt, but there are descent reasons why he sucks so bad.

correct me if i'm wrong but the only way for chaos to enter Imperial space is through the EoT, so that means all the Imperium has to do is cover one entrance meaning they don't have to spread out forces to cover all these entrances, and than bottle neck chaos forces until they finally retreat(sort of like The Battle of Thermopylae).

and 2nd I'm pretty sure after the last world wide event black crusade, Abaddon holds half of Cadia.

Its what we do best. We die standing

Uhh No? The EoT is not the only warp onpening that chaos comes in from its just the bigest

If you read the fluff Caidians see that as a HUGE set back, and who said it was only half? Hey nearly concord it

I stand corrected, thank you.

As for how much of Cadia he controls, I just read that he has a strong foothold, but he has no way of getting reinforcement. So the imperium will most likely reclaim it soon enough.

Difficult to predict. Both communications and warp travel have become very difficult in the Cadian sector, thanks to a number of summoned warpstorms. The leadership on Cadia itself ( or at the very least Creed's second in command ) predict that the war will last a long time. With the heavy losses suffered during the war ( both on the ground and in space, although the losses in space were less severe than those of the Chaos Armada ), raging warpstorms and only a tenuous hold over Cadia itself the 13. Black Crusade might very much end in, at least temporary, defeat for the Imperium of Man.

Well the chaos gods need mankind in order to survive(correct me if I'm wrong), so I beleive the Black Crusades just bring entertainment for them, and they really don't care who comes out on top.

I think the current issues with Abaddon/CSM fluff in general are mostly GW’s fault.

One of the main points I always bring up with any “Black Crusade thread” is that GW will never ever let chaos actually win a Black Crusade. It’s the same logic applied to chaos actually killing the emperor, Guilliman waking up, tyranids om nom noming Terra (i.e. it will never happen). What surprises me is that people are surprised that Abaddon loses. I think people should be questioning the direction of the fluff rather than Abaddon solely. If Abaddon’s fluff is currently bad, what should be changed to make it good?

What’s cheapened Chaos’ image recently is the change in fluff direction over the years, which was “desperate struggles in a grim dark future” but is now “knights in spaaaace who triumph against all odds”. At the moment, we have an odd situation where Chaos are allowed to be a main villain, they’re just not allowed to win. This kind of lazy story telling is most infamously present in 5th edition where Chaos only exists to show how good the imperium is. The only 5th edition fluff that Chaos has going on for itself is all of the Huron Blackheart stuff.

Apparently chaos is supposed to have a greater fluff presence in 6th edition so perhaps the image problems with chaos will be fixed then.

i agree with iproxtaco, angron is sweet, also my friend used abaddon against me yesterday, and he teleported right to my guard lines, and got guard spammed, and they killed abaddon(which was hilarious because my friend thinks hes awesome). I would take angron any day of the week over abaddon. I mean come on, doesnt ever miss his attacks, thats just too legit! Also, GW will never, ever, ever^ever allow chaos to win anything major as long as there are more imperium players
