Thanks a lot for your cheering words gentlemen!

@Dave: achieving the impossible is just a beginning.

@Vik: answers with the appopriate salute Thank you for welcoming me. Of course I'll paint it, but this might not be before some time (I'm waiting for my birthday gift - a compressor- before starting any paint on my various terrains)

@Daemonfae: Thanks man! Your own work is impressive.

@Skalk: Thanks! I might be obliged to put my terrain building projects aside for some times, because I might have to move from my appartment soon. So I'll probably be back on my CSMs soon.

No, a rivet is a rivet, we just call it "le rivet"

Rivet is a perfectly french word (we just don't pronounce the "t"). It was made from the verb "river" (again we don't pronounce the last "r" so it sounds exactly like rivet) which means to thighten two elements against one another. Later the verb "riveter" and the adjective "riveté" appeared (same pronounciation for both).
The earliest ethymological sources about the word "Rivet" in French are from 1260.

I hope it will help you

OK folks, next time we'll talk about the progress of metallurgy during the 19th century and it's impact on the betroot production in the north of France!

@Vik: I think it's time for you to become minister of education, and to give rivetting its right place in the study programs

Now back on topic, I will try to put the tower and the waterslide on two separate bases this week-end (so that I'll be able to use the tower separately).

I've not done much for the -=]_,=- terrain contest. In fact, my daughter crushed the lid I was going to use to build a dome like this (with less details):

I was thinking to turn it to a memorial of some kind, but I can't find a good replacement for my lid... and since the real life doesn't leave me enough time to think of an alternative, I'm affraid I won't be able to participate this time...

thats unfortinate, but maybie its for the best (well at least if you find a new and better lid!)

uh... kids these days huh?... well i am most fortunate when it comes to kids... my two sons, 4 and 6 years old...never touch anything without permission and never yet crushed anything of my hobby stuff... their own toys get smashed in regular amounts of time of course

and head of education...hmmm... career agenda... well i soon start an apprenticeship to become a nursery nurse...in a school...so you aren´t that far off the actual plan^^

and that is a cool concept mate... don´t put it too far off your schedule... there WILL be a league competition part II for sure!

Well, I can't blame my daughter, I shouldn't have left it in an accessible place. I guess it's a collateral damage of the "War for the Dinner Table"...and, Vik, as far as I know a career can take some surprising turns...we'll talk again about this in twenty years when we'll both be ministers

I'll keep my project in head for later (as many other projects which will have to wait until I know where I'll be moving to, and if I'll finally get a hobby room...)

Ladies and Gentlemen, fellow riveters.

I'm happy to announce that this thread is going to enter a cryogenic stasis for a period of two or three months. The reason of it being that I've found a new job and I'm leaving the hole that is the Parisian region to get back to my homeland, Amiens, and will be quite busy packing my stuff, selling my appartment, finding a rent, and other funny administrative duties.

Of course I'll keep my toolbox accessible (to avoid turning mad with the lack of modelling), and will try to have some little things done, but nothing big before a long time.

The greatest part of all this is that I'll be close to all my gaming friends, and that I'll probably get a gaming room!(a last)

For those who ignore anything about Amiens (and something makes me guess there are many), here are some elements:
We have the biggest gothic Cathedral in the world (Nottre Dame de Paris? Pff that's a hen house)

Jules Vernes lived there for half his life, and is buried there.

In the countryside, military cemetary from WW1 are (sadly) as common as betroot fields

And, Amiens is in Picardy, so its inhabitants are:

PICARDs

Hey guys! Guess what? The move is over!

After nearly four months at my parent's place with my wife and daughter, I've finally moved into a new house. There's still a lot of things to unbox and I have some work to do in the basement to get the gaming room of my dreams, but it's on a good way.

I now have time again to work on my projects, starting with this one.

Do you remember the waterslide? Well, I've started to work on the pool in which the happy grots are ending!

Here's the beginning:

More is coming soon.

Dude, wow. That was a heck of a wait. Glad to hear you are on your way to awesomeness. Having a game room is beyond cool, I can't describe it properly.

Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
