Gorka Morka.......what a fantastic idea for a project, well executed so far as well! I do love large line of sight blocking terrain in my 40k games, you've got me day dreaming about a new fort for my table, Thanks.

The orkification of the fort is in progress. I've started to work new rivets making techniques (I mean, new to me, I guess the rivets masters did it in kindergarten )
Basicalli i ct a plasticard tube in 1 to 2 mm pieces and put it around a thin plasticard rod like this:

then, a point of glue at the end of the rod, and cutting with an exacto knife leaving a small length of rod out of the tube and, ta-dah!

I really think I'm going to have a go at casting facades. I've given it a lot of thought and at the very least it will free up 10 bulkheads I am using for my miniatures photo backdrops currently.

If it works I'll be sure to post about it. If it doesn't I'll just let the idea fade away and hope no one ever asks me about it.

I would be willing to build the master bulkheads, we just need someone to make molds and cast them. My hobby budget has been blown (or rather capital invested) in my new hoard of styrene. This could be a collective community project, Who knows, maybe we could sell them? It's technically not GW's IP anymore if we build the master.

@ Dsteingass: I have gathered all the material to make a mold, but must still find resin to pour in, and good casting resin is really hard to find here in France.
I like the idea of a community project, I think it's something we should discuss further.

Looking at the wall I felt something was wrong, and after two days, I realised what it was... The scrap metal plates are too regular! I should have filed them before glueing
I'll have to use my dremmel tool to file them on the wall...

Pics to follow as soon as I'll be satisfied.

This is awesome. Awesome enough that it has inspired me to start my own orky fort. Well, start it and then put it on the desk with the other forty-odd projects I have going... ...sorry...I did just a little more scrap-walling, but some sleepless nights (of the kind that every parent has to face quite regularly ) took the best of my motivation...

Now a more positive point, while I was unable to work with plasticard, I found some motivation to work on my casting skills (I'm quite good with pewter). I also went to the nearest DIY store to get some more silicon and bought some cheap resin (probably not the most adequat but it's probably fine for a first attempt -besides, it's the only one you find in stores around here-)

Functionally, the bulkhead ladders will be used to quickly climb in-game, but more ladders can't hurt.

That fort looks to be coming on really well.

Yes, and make some in illogical places. Orks have "good idears" that we zoggin' Humies just don't understand. Like a ladder leading to the top of wall that has no platform on top, or something like that. Adds a level of detail to a plain wall piece as well.

Be warned, these two take something like 28 bulkheads between them!

Sadly lots of the card is already glued, so will have to be carefully cut apart. I will start on this sooner than I might have done, so that I can get you some scans of the card pieces so that you can start cutting it. It'll also allow me to store it flat, which would help...

I'm going to try and work out a way to change it to being a flat pack kit for both when done in Plasticard, not sure how that'll work, but better to try than not to.

Now guys, I'd like to share with you the joy that was mine today, when I received my latest acquisition on ebay. I won an auction concerning the Digganob supplement, and since I had just been looking at the title of the item and the picture, I was just expecting to get the book...here's what I got for 0,99£ (don't look at the mess around ):



So now, it might not just be interesting to try to rebuild the digganob terrain, I will rebuild the digganob terrain! (and make scans!)
You can also notice an exemplar of the WD watchtower I mentioned earlier came along, that was an extra bonus! Hurray!

I'll try to get some work done on the fort on Monday.

Time for a small update;

I found some time to file the edges of the plasticard scrap plates (at last).
It's only a detail and I think it doesn't deserve a pic for it, but now that it's done I feel free to go over, finish the walls and work on another element.
