I'm sure a name will come up itself in time- perhaps after I make and name an HQ unit, then they'll just take his name. so if my HQ is called Bob, Bob's Renegades.

Grey death legion sounds a little stereotypical doesn't it? How about being a little more poetic? Ash is grey and it has that charm of fiery decomposition. Idk children of (the) ash(es)? Their warcry could be "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust!" Would be great for a nurgle themed warband...

Dreads looking really nurgly so far , looking forward to seeing those renegades painted up.

@baiyuan - yea, you're most likely right, it does sound a little cheesey. Maybe something more subtle would be better.

@GiraffeX - hey there, thanks- I try not just to stick to one of the powers- that said alot of what I do seems to go very nurgley. I guess that's not a bad thing tho

How about the Random Name Generator in your SoD book for your Warlord? I know, LatD would be better, but you could still come up with something like Slimerot's Corpsegrinders or DeathWart's Stump Eaters or whatnot.

Hey thanks! I gave the skin a wash of a 50/50 mixture of Dev mud and Baal red - so purple-ish yes .

Hey there - yes tbh, haven't varnished anything yet, I'm a little worried about doing it. I have a new can of purity seal but was planning to hit the orbs with some gloss, along with the slime on the base.

Gloss on the Orbs is a great idea. I'm also impressed by how yucky the tongue and base is.

Well, TR, it's a gamble when you gloss something as there's no going back. In general though, on things that are supposed to be glassy or shiny I've found that makes the highlights come much more naturally because they are honest highlights off the gloss surface. I've lost count of the times I've gotten compliments for my highlights when what people were actually seeing were the natural highlights.

Thanks for the advice - I have loads more of the glass orb bits so I think a trial run is in order!

There are some great CSM blogs on Dakka, you just have to find them , I'm just re-living the good old days haha.

Glass- for what it is worth, I'd recommend the brush-on kind (I use Tamiya gloss) and just hit the bits you really want to gloss up. I've had some horrid results from spray gloss.

Hey, had a quiet night, been filling forums with words and.... painting!!

I firsted 2 of the new batch, pics -



Always wanted to paint his guy, and now I have!! Wanted to maybe make him a bit more colourful, but also wanted him still to fit in. Havent decided if he is a plasma gunner, or a unit champ.

Really like this old marine, typical goofy looking model but has something about it - yes one leg appears to be 50% longer than the other, yes his torso appears to be about the same size as his boot, but I like it never the less!
