This blog is frustratingly good! Good as in the quality and inventiveness of your models is amazing. Frustrating as it makes me want to root around for my old chaos marines and try to imitate it. It is hard enough to focus on one army as it is without tempting blogs like this around!

Out of interest, what do you plan to use it as on the battlefield? The army looks very old style chaos renegades to me but you don't seem to see those about much nowadays.

Again I say that you underestimate your ability to finish things. The work you have done here is stunning and if you look back over the time passed since you started and compare to the staggering amount of quality work done on this, you'll have a fantastic looking tabletop-ready army in a few months at most.

Thanks for all the comments, its always good to get some feedback. I had a bit of spare time here and there over xmas, I managed to get the Hunchback finished, however looking at the pics I seem to have forgotten to paint some skulls. pics-






I'll have to go back over the Havocs to finish them off (like sorting the Evil Frogs damaged legs), that said, a little mile stone hit, I have 2 (TWO! ) whole squads completed now! Pic-



Quite please with them tbh. Hopefully next up is a finished Dread and then coming up with a HQ choice, which troubles me (i'll go into that later).

I must say I've always been infatuated with the old renegade models. For years I had a promotional catalogue poster featuring the whole range hanging on the wall in my room so I know all of them by heart. It's incredible how good they look even today and how modern models can be made to look so alike those classics.

Yea I love some of the old models - I've got the old red and blue catalogues from the early 90s. I still have afew left in my bits box, but there are some I truly love yet dont have yet - may eBay help me!

Looks like I missed a few updates. The Havoc squad is excellent and the Dread is coming along nicely.

Everything you have done here so far is so weird and off-the-wall compared to the new Chaos where everyone wears the same armor and spikey spikey spikey. Someone should send this thread to GW and show them how far they have fallen from where they once were.

that dread will be a great addition to your forces...the clockwork thing... i truly envy you!

I feel that HMV, particularly when it comes to the old heavies. If I had ~$1000 I'd love to track down the lot of them and do up a properly renegade bunch of CSM bastards ... but ah well

@ Skalk Bloodaxe - Thanks for that- I really cant take too much credit for the models, its more like I'm updating my own memories of what I remember Chaos to be.

I recall being slightly too young to join in but able to watch (aslong as I didnt touch ) games like chaos warbands.... one memory I clearly remember chuckling in delight as a nearly unstoppable Chaos warrior took a Bolter round to the head and died ( in fantasy this is a big deal).

Yea, as I said before, I'm not too sure how he ended up this pink - /i dont mind it to be honest it just wasnt the orignal idea.

I had some grand title for him like "The Wyrm of......etc etc etc" and for his skin colour scheme I was following an old picture of some fancy Wyrm/dragon. He was ment to be a Dark fleshy purple but the more I highlighted he turned pink, lol.
