Mandos look really nice. I like the color scheme.
Hulk turned out great, my favorite is the Peakaboo shot.
My school has a really old filament printer. I've been trying to convince them to get a new resin one. We'll see, we'll see. Like you said, it could be dangerous.

iHulk turned out really great, good on you injecting the body horror back into what was otherwise just a more dynamic Hulk. Speaking of Immortal Hulk, I'm not sure I was aware of how gnarly that series is! I have you to thank for getting me to google it and read up on how weird things got, including that coalescing-around-the-evil-dude death scene

Thanks, DJ JazzyJeff!

Thank you, Boss Salvage! And you're welcome! It's a great run.

Rollover!

Thank you, Olthannon! Big boy did turn out well. Quite happy with him. Printed 2 more in a smaller scale. They did NOT turn out as well. Compressing the details, combined with an inferior clear filament, gave me a less than satisfactory result. Thankfully, the big one is the important one and the rest were experiments.

All done. Immortal Hulk. Renewal in monstrous form. He falls, only to rise again. I loved this story arc. First time using Uhu gore. Worked ok. In the end, I think the modifications I made help sell this as Immortal Hulk rather than Another Hulk.

Peekaboo!

Also finished another Randolorian. This one was inspired by Boba Fett's original look, seen in Droids and the infamous Holiday special.

And a group shot of the Mandos so far.

The next Mando should be fun. Have something a little different and slightly silly planned.

Thanks for looking!

Yup. Danger zone. The allure of an army of mostly adequate copies of GW stomp-bots for pennies is strong. Being a filament printer, it isn't the finest Sneech on the beach, but it should suit my purposes, which is owning a Leviathan.

All prepped and ready to prime. Removing the slicer-generated supports was...not great? Most of the negative space was filled with gunk to pry out. I suppose it comes with the territory and is the trade-off for a cheaper model. Autocannons ended up a total mess and had to be reprinted in a different orientation. If you can't tell, I am late to the 3D party. Added some bits to give it a personal touch. And to replace details torn away with the supports.

Anyway, he's all set and ready for the September challenge. Sort of wish the topics were switched. I am looking forward to seeing how this guy turns out. Next month's choice gave me more trouble in deciding, but I am close to a final candidate.

Thanks for looking!

If you want to influence the competition, I’m entirely open to bribes. I just need a head’s up so I can make it seem like something besides a flagrant abuse of power.

There probably are things you can do with a filament printer to get better results, but for detail work they are not the best. Still lots of uses though, and the price is right compared to the other options. Plus ease of use. Big guy looks good from here.

I'm a couple of decades behind in my comics reading, so I'm not entirely sure what's happening with that model, but I am sure that it rocks. I really like the skin tone you went with. Very different from the traditional Jolly Green Giant.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Painting total as of 3429/2024: 56 plus a Deva King statue
Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Thanks, guys!

For anyone not familiar who is a fan of comics, I highly suggest checking out Immortal Hulk. The storyline has been collected in 4 omnibus volumes, so no need to track down a bunch of issues.

Thanks, Nev, but no need to shake things up on my account. I'll stow my dreadnought enthusiasm for a month to focus on something hotter. Speaking of which...

This will be my entry for August. Confrontation fire elemental. Had this guy for a long time. Painted one many years ago for someone else, just now getting to my own. Seems to be the way sometimes.

Also working on Godzilla's base. Picking away at things. Next Mando in the works, too.

Thanks for looking!

That looks more like a stabbing thing then a burning thing. You sure that’s an elemental?

Not familiar with it’s story.

Pretty sure.

It's this guy, from Confrontation. Their elemental designs were pretty cool. They had the usual four, plus darkness and light.

Don’t get me wrong, looks very cool. Just not what pops to mind when someone says “elemental” to me.

All sorts of stuff for all sorts of games out there. I’m sure if we set the topic for the month as “elemental” some joker would submit a star of armored infantry. And be right to do so.

One of my favorite elementals ever sculpted, very cool to see one in the wild. I sadly don't own one myself but do have the water elemental (pic from Cadwallon.com):
Spoiler:

Good luck with the paint!

Excellent results with the printer there!

I am currently printing a Warhound titan on my FDM printer, it's a constant learning experience in terms of supports etc.

I recommend Meshmixer as a simple way of chopping models up, that can really help sometimes to avoid large negative spaces, as you say removing the supports from out of those can sometimes prove near impossible...

Thank you, fellows!

Appreciate the tip, Slinky.

Boss Salvage, that's cool. I only have fire and earth, myself. Have toyed with the idea over the years of finishing the set. Still haven't done it. Problem is, I would want not only the big four, but at least Light, as well. Maybe Dark, too. A lot to track down.

Anyway, working away on stuff, and this fell in my lap. A day earlier than expected.

Kingdom Death Gambler's Chest has arrived. Hard to believe. Both that is is finally here, and how long it took. It's a stupid amount of stuff to take in. And, no inventory/contents sheet that I can see. So...I guess I will go online and try to refresh my brain on what the Sam Hill is actually supposed to be in here. I love Kingdom Death. Minis anyway. Game is fun, but I came for the models. They hit my major notes. However, at this stage of the game my mind has trouble processing an influx of this magnitude. Especially since I don't even know what I am looking at.

Hmmm...one-stop shopping. Thanks a heap, Boss Salvage.

No, really.

I had no idea Cadwallon had such an extensive catalog of all the old Rackham stuff. Have water and air on the way. Darkness was out of stock, but I picked up their girl version. And a couple other models.

Trouble seems to have overcome quicker than expected, Nev!

And a pic of further danger, Gwenom in two sizes. Courtesy of a friend with a resin printer.

I may have some small impulse control issues. Thanks for looking!

Yesssss happy to help! I was blown away when I discovered that I could pick up Confrontation stuff I missed, and for what seems like the original price as well??

In other news, Gwenom is an unexpected but delicious surprise!

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Yes, Boss Salvage, the prices were both surprising and welcome!

Despite the influx of plastic, I did this:

Brrrrrrrrrrr...

I knew this would be trouble. A Sicaran, just because. I just used whatever filament was loaded at the time, hence the various colors. However, now I want to print one in as many colors as possible as a throwback to when Harlequins could loot Imperial vehicles and just repainted them in an appropriately riotous fashion.

Thanks for looking!

Man, I can’t believe I’m a page behind! You’ve been painting and printing up a storm!

The red dragon is a piece of art, and such a massive beastie. The various tones in its skin add so much interest and give it a very real aesthetic!

Loving the Rando Mandos, gives you a nice palette cleanser with all the different colours.

Immortal Hulks mods turned out great and incredibly gory, which sounds right from your descriptions. The super glue blood is a neat trick that worked well on him.

The printer you’re using seems pretty diaper in with the organic shapes. The print lines seem to disappear on Godzilla and the curve of the Dreadnoughts torso. I wonder if rotating some of the parts might help with the smoothness? If you have an ironing function in the slicer that should help on any flat bits

Candy tank! Thanks, Olthannon!

Thanks, gobert! In regards to the print lines, at this stage of the game I am not too worried about it. Still feeling things out, and I will reserve judgment until I get some paint on them.

Still working on the fire elemental and Gwenoms. Also received the order from Cadwallon, so I guess I had better figure out how to get the other elementals on the desk in decent time. Only thing worthy of a picture, though, is the completed bolt pistol.
