The current WD* has 4 new Chaos Datasheets in :

- Banelord of Khorne
- Defiler Assault Force
- Chaos Conclave
- Thousand Sons Warcoven
with others mentioned as coming "soon"

: - Silver Tower of Tzeentch
- Nurgle Plague Tower
- Khorne Doom Blaster
- Khorne Lord of Battle
- Slaanesh Subjugator
- Emperor's Children Warband

I know for some of these-- The Slaanesh one at least GW are assembling special bitz packs for ordering. Banelord is suitably mad and over the top --mad Khorne titan basically-- the Defiler formation is alright-- extra shooty and fighty and they can claw down terrain pieces-- 1kson conclave is quite dirty-- rubric termies and a whole unit of sorceror champions which Ahriman/the leader can sacrifice to generate barrage attacks-- and the frankly terrifying Chaos Conclave , which is a veritable league of evil-- disruption abilities and supporting barrages for each special character/Hq basically.

* UK number 340.

It also has a little pic of the forthcoming new washes for modelling..

" In June the Citadel paint range will get even better ! Specially designed to compliment the citadel colour and foundation paints, the new citadel wash range is the perfect addition to your paint collection. They go straight over white, metallic and colour coats, allowing you to quickly and consistently create areas of shading, creating a professional finish with a minimum of effort. "

Visible washes include : Gryphone Sepia, Asurmen Blue, Baal red, DEvlan Mud and Ogryn flesh. Others appear to be purple, green and ...and... err ...olive(y).Possibly.

They also reveal the fact they are releasing a new "how to paint Citadel miniatures" as well, packed with all sorts of etc etc.

These, and the forthcoming special tank painting book from FW should mean a bumper year for enthusiastic painters.

Oh, and the oft rumoured spray gun is still coming apparently-- shaped like a hand flamer apparently... . GW air FTW !

Codex: Defiler Kingdoms FTW!

Seriously, though, the Thousand Sons Warcoven sounds pretty darn cool, although I'll withhold final judgment until I find out what the Strength and AP of that barrage is.

So I can use rubric terminators in Apocalypse? Fantastic! I must admit I was a bit miffed at first when they were left out of the Chaos codex, but now they're back!* Thank you GW, this is much better than giving them regular rules (because that would have been unbalanced). I eagerly await the day when Death Company become Apocalypse-only.

So, how is a Banelord over the top? Compared to a Warlord I mean? Let me guess, manditory Titan CCW, two extra attacks, and furious charge?

I don't think it's over the top.

Hopefully it'll retain its old weapons - the two cannons, Havoc Missile Rack, Doomfist and Hellstrike cannon.

But it'll probably just be a Warlord with Spikes.

Banelord, not over the top? Huh? IIRC, in Epic the Warlord had four titan-class weapons. The Banelord had a maw cannon, a power-chain fist with a twin-linked titan-sized multi melta on it, a tail-mounted dual chainsword / cannon, a large gun for its other arm, and a "maestrom" missile rack on top. Eight titan class weapons. Banelord could eat Warlords for breakfast.

But he could not be on first fire orders, so it was balanced I guess!!

Yeah, I don't know if I said it first, but I predicted something similar a while back here.

The S and AP of the barrage- which uses the clover leaf shaped template-- is at krak level.

Banelord is armed with Bloodletter battlehead, havoc missile rack, hellstrike cannon, doom fist and chaos titan tail.

As well as being possessed it has a chart similar to the Chaos Dreadnougt, however if it gets fire frenzy the first volley is directed by the chaos player and then the second volley is directed by a randomly selected player and can therefore shoot up its own side.

Clocks in between 2- 3 thousand points. Forum rules forbid me from revealling the exact amount I believe, but I'm sure you could meet me half way here.

A Happy Time in Chaos Land

1k Son Warcoven sounds ultragroovy, and just generally happy that the Legions are getting crazy stuff in APOC if nowhere else. But on the Empy Kids, haven't we seen a datasheet for them before?

Also, great to have another defiler datasheet, the IA:APOC one was pretty disappointing

I wonder why all the concentrated Chaos Love is going on? I get that the Defiler mob has to do with the unbound Defiler release, but I wonder about all the others. Is there another event or release they're supporting, or have the studio just got Tzants in their pants?

EDIT- Are these datasheets in the US WD340? I didn't see them in the review posted elsewhere in News & Rumors.

It's possible the Studio is reacting to the general 'meh' opinion of the Chaos Codex, and is trying to make those who find their armies neutered feel a bit better, I guess.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Well, there is a new Chaos-related Codex coming out soon. Just a guess.

I believe so yes. I wonder if we might see the "missing" sheets on the web first possibly. I'm sure they'll find their way up otherwise.....

Yeah, obviously. But few of them have anything to do with deamons, which are supposedly a separate codex with no ally rules. I'm wondering if either the ally rules _are_ in there, or if this is another Apoclology for cutting them out of the main Chaos codex.

Can you give any hints as to just what a chaos conclave consists of? I find myself curious.

From memory the formation cosists of 1 named character and then 4-8 other HQ choices which can include other named characters a unit of termies and <mind goes blank> "some" troops. The sheer concentration of ... of.... "evil" and general wackyness rends the very fabric of reality represented by them acting as a mobile disruptor beacon thingymajig and they get a number of barrages/orbital strikes equal to the number of characters in the formation. There might be 1 other minor thing too, I'll update later when the magazine is at hand.

In the grim madness of Apocalypse, rending demonettes and the defiler kingdoms prance hand-in-claw with rending clowns and falcon spam ... So allies or not is a moot point, more depends on your personal tolerance.

So my Transdimensional Kharne Team just got quasi-legit, and with 8 orbital strikes slapped on for good measure. Sweeeeeet

Alas, I think this actually specifies you may only have 1 of a single named character. That said of course YOU CAN IN APOCALYPSE* right ?

Any word on them bringing back the Armor Wash? Black Wash just isn't the same, and my pot of Armor from 1990-something is getting REALLY low... It doesn't help that I think I spilled half of it early in my painting years... cat!

Armor Wash has been back for months. It's on the Privateer paint rack. They are using the old GW paint manufacturer. The bad news is it's sold out. I went through 36 pots at my shop in nothing flat. More coming in soon, and they are doing a huge run on it.

Heh, only on Dakka). The chaos codex is selling in huge numbers at most shops. It had a huge amount of pre orders, and steady re-orders. No lack of sales on it. My personal experience is that we have more chaos players than anthing else in the two shops, and the number grows.

Yeah, I work at a bookstore, and the guy who runs the gaming section ordered 10 copies of the new CSM Codex. I thought he was nuts. "Good luck selling those!" I told him. We've only got one copy left!
