Hey all

Decorating and doing a clean install on my PC have kept me from doing much digital stuff this week besides wainting for the CNC to finish the Valkyrie rotors (not long now ), but I did find some time last night to cast up a few sets of our Ork bases. I was also doing a little bit of experimentation for shoulder pad icons and I reckon the idea's sound, it's just a matter of refinement and seeing how fine we can go with the detail. If custom shoulderpad icons are something people are interested in shout about it and we'll see what we can do It'd be god if we could do an offer to get your custom logo on bases, rhino doors and shoulderpads as a set.

Also, why is it when you paint something with a few rum and cokes it always looks so much better the night before?

The valkyrie kit is getting nearer. This master should be finished by tonight. Then we just need to machine the other wing and we can start casting some up

PS if anyone knows why since I did a clean install of Windows 7 and Firefox the attachments button on the post reply button doesn't work for me anymore? I just get a javascript:void(0) in the bottom left. Most frustrating

We're both using newest firefox and I downloaded java this morning. Thought it might be because I'd just done a clean install but now neither of us can get on dakka at all! It sucks because we just made a whole load of stuff today, including some clear swords and some new wolf bases but we can't get pictures up! If we cant get on tomorrow I'll upload pics to imgur and link to our galleries. Thank god for phones eh?

Quick update tonight, managed to cut some laser swords for the space elves! Hope you enjoy them, I have a little fluorescent orange left over from a job, Sebastiansynn I wish it were blue! xD

dude, those look really nice. I'll just have to try and ink the swords and see what that does, and failing that i can also try out magic markers and so on. I really don't want to change from Sapphire blue weapons to another color, as it will clash to much to use red, orange, green, or most of the other colors that are readily available.

They look pretty cool. It is hard to tell, but how "sharp" are the edges?

Those swords are so f***ing awesome. How much would it cost to send some of these bases to your long lost convict bretherin in Australia? lol

Nice name for the elder-space elfs..ha.I also thought of another idea, how about on the home page of your website put a hipperlink to a thered saying what your products are eg-
space pharos(Or whaterver they are)-necrons

dark space elfs- dark elder
space cyborges-space marines ect....

I don't think they're sharp at all, but the ends are pointy and stabby!

Your more than welcome to hit us up with an email if you want a set dragoons! They're all 25 mm long and vary in width, the lowest image is an avatar sword, which is 75mm long and is 3 pieces sandwiched together.

We would very much like our bases to be known around the comunity as warmill bases, opposed to simply another laser cut base. How we achieve that not quite sure yet, but we have to get them stuck to the feet of lots of soldiers and in stores accross all 4 corners of the world!

We will be considering how we can Market the bases, whether it is say, sic fi base, or something more specific like you mentioned Hazzer! And there is nothing wrong with space elves!

True, that name is pretty neat but you will want to seprate elder to dark elder just add dark ot space elives for dark elder.

Hey all!

Picture dump time! We made quite a few things on Saturday, as well as the swords and spear tips shown above. We got some samples for our new wolf bases made, as well as playing around with some ideas for another range for us to launch with. These will be Greco-Roman inspired, we're thinking something like the Spartan range as a name. We're aiming to have our website launched by the end of the month, so we just have to nail down our initial ranges then do all the fun web stuff like resizing images woop!

The second master for the Valkyrie VTOL kit finished cutting on Saturday as well, so there's only 2 left to cut! I'll try and get them done in the next week or 2 so we can start moulding and casting some up. Once we have an idea of how much resin it takes we'll it up for sale, then it's just a matter of finishing off the turret and skids. I'll post some pics in our other thread.

I hate to say this, but the noses on the wolf heads in the above pic are too long for the skull, they look like aardvarks right now. The rest of the Wolf stuff looks good though.

Those are awesome! though you can kind of see the tool paths in some of them, not a problem if the person is going to paint them, but if he isnt, maybe you could make the tool paths be a tangent of a circle at a set point instead of straight side to side? This way they would look sort of like scales or lines that show the "roundness" of the dragons head.

( I remember doing this in autocad/mastercam in like..... 1995, i have no idea what it is called, lol)

Hey Grundz, your right about the tool path, but bere in mind that these images haven't been re-sizedand are about 3 x 2 meters square!

Yes they are visible but not as visible as in the images...Unfortunately our laser cannot engrave in a spiral - maybe we should develop a machine that can :p

getting stuck with getting the artwork 'just right' can be a challenge, I usually get wound up enough to just say, right, that's it, that's what I'm going for! Otherwise take a day or so off and have another look then, see whats changed! Thanks for your comment!

Warmill. Awesome stuff as usual. My only beef is the warboss ork stand isn't orky enough, looks too clean and well put together.

the above image is in no way Orky enough! I really couldn't be a**d with modeling bullet holes!

I should be getting the lovely 3D print delivered tomorrow, my thinking is sell one that is like the image, for users to Orkify, and i'll try my hand at Orkifying one myself, with added Armour plates and bullet holes etc so expect an update to the trophy stand next week some time...

Is this just the first tooling, or the final product? You say that they are "clearer" in person?

Although I would prefer the design to be on the bottom of the base, if you can set the main body of the dragon as the "top" layer of the cut so it remains clear that might be better.

Perhaps cutting into the base is not the best option - I do really want a reasonably clear base. Do you think the design would work with just outlining? Perhaps with frosting like your most recent bases?

Hey warmill, question.

Have you tried taking an edge highlighted peice, cut into, lets say, a gear *wink wink* and press fit that into another peice (with the gear cut out of)?
Would the edge higlights showing through look stupid... or awesome?

We wondered about flamer and blast templates and the like, in reds and oranges for human weapons, or shades of blue, green for alien weapons etc...

As for the dragon heads; we could invert the colours of the design, so the main body of the dragon is left clear and everything else is engraved - it could sort things out for us.

Harry has just let me know he has edited the file already. Looking at the base actual size, I dont think there is much to worry about - the camera is picking up and amplifying a lot that isn't noticeable on the real deal.
