Huzzah! PDFs! I shall now build a board-sized castle!

Conduct While Gaming
While rolling a die, do not say, “Anything but a 1!” unless you wish the die to come up as 1. Any other such attempts to anger the “Dice Gods” will result in the existential equivalent of continuously flipping a coin and having it come up heads every time (for reference, see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead). Your dice will be cursed to roll ones for everything other than morale checks, which will come up sixes.

ORK PLAYERS HAVE A LIMIT OF 1 SCREAMS OF WAAAAAAGH PER HOUR. violators will be forced to play tau.

Players with chimeras and las weapons shall pronounce chimera ki-mere-uh, not chim-ere-uh. Violators will be forced to play nothing but world eaters. Non-40k personnel must purchase and build a chimera.

The train is not. the M.A.D.'s I worked with another person. I have other things that I have done like 10mm MechWarrior terrain,GURPS NPC Generator and a few others. Just browse the Files section to see some of the stuff I've done.

Well, this is certainly an epic of epic epicness! I can't wait to build one, it looks amazing. Just one question (sorry if it's been answered already, I did skim through all the pages) - what material should I print it on? Can I use basic paper, or does it need to be thicker, and can I use an ordinary printer to do it?

Also, I just want to warn people that my computer detected malware on page 5 of this thread, hopefully it's just a mistake though

Regular paper is not advised unless it is a full sheet of label Paper which you can then stick onto Cardstock, mat board or Plasticard.

I used Cardstock and Mat Board (1mm and 2mm thick) for mine.

but you could do it out of paper, and just do several thicknesses?

You could but I would suggest using cardstock at that point as it would take less time, less glue, less mess.

For those in the States check WalMart for Georgia Pacific Cardstock (50 lbs weight should work) You could also get tag board, mat board there as well.

For those of us in Europe I have found most of my stuff at a Stationary. My cardstock is 224 gsm and my stationary has a rack of coloured and sometimes textured mat board.

And all of us can search online as well.

If you look at one of the first pictures of this project that was done all in cardstock.

I simply felt the need to reply reading some of these posts. I absolutely love papercraft and cardstock terrain. There is so much more out there than GW offers in plastic. It just gives much more variety, and often is a simple, fast, inexpensive, and easy way to add a beautiful piece of terrain to the field. I am one of those types of people that love to have terrain, but I want it fast, plus I want something different. GW makes everything have a dizzying array of customization options to make something completely original. Yet often to do so takes lots of time, skill and patience. Plus if I ever do get it done to standards that I would agree with, it is so expensive and took so much time and effort, I would rather put it on a shelf away from my destructive friends and family. Paper makes it so much easier, and if it does get destroyed I could just print up another easily and get it to the table within minutes to hours (depending on the size) not days. And that actually brings me to another point, I have no idea what people are talking about it getting destroyed in a few games. I just got into this so my pieces aren't exactly battle tested, but the pieces I have are exceptionally sturdy. I simply added a single layer of basically cereal box cardboard to the bottom of the roof and flooring of my buildings (which are designed to open up like a shoebox with a removable roof to show the interior) and none to the walls. With that small amount of support it was easily able to hold up my metal Daemon Prince without any problems. They aren't going to survive being thrown across the room (well actually maybe they might) but you wouldn't do that with any piece, be it plastic, metal, or paper so they will last a long time. Even if they meant the detail on it will fade or get destroyed, that can be easily be prevented with a layer of clear paint or a few of even just diluted white Elmer's glue.

I don't understand why he would get on you about the vehicles either. It's not like you plan to take them to a tournament either to play seriously with (and I doubt they would allow it either). And you are simply using them as terrain pieces. I am getting my brother into the game so what I am doing is splitting my army in two and bolstering the forces with papercraft vehicles temporarily until he gets his army. I see little reason to spend all that cash for a temporary fix. I also am using papercraft vehicles to "test the waters" so to speak with certain vehicles. I want to see if they would fit in well enough with my play style for me to actually buy some. If they don't then I wasted what a dollar at most? Vs buying the vehicle at full price to find it doesn't fit my style or tatics and waste the 30 - well over 100 dollars on some.

Plus, above all, warhammer is meant to be different for each player. Each army and board is meant to be completely different, unique to each individual. There was a time in which White Dwarf even gave out papercraft designs for the player to use. Warhammer could not be what it is today if not for papercraft rhinos and shoebox land raiders, it was literally built on them. And even now, there are many shoebox land raiders out there across vast cites of cardshock and cardboard in many households. If a person wants a paper tank in their army, then let them have it. It is their army, not yours, and someone else's opponent, not yours. You may never play against this person, or even meet them for that madder, for the entirety of your life so who cares?
