Whats your point? If people want to test out an army before committing to a purchase, I'm all for paperhammer, its way better than straight up proxies.

Just ignore him. He's been warned about the derailing of the thread so I suspect this is his feeble attempt at getting it locked. Not worth it as I do actually want to see what becomes of the OP's work.

I like this alot. Looks pretty good and most importantly its useful for gaming on a budget. Sure some people may not approve of this, but those people obviously don't understand the value of saving a dollar or the pride of making something yourself.

I enjoy papercrafting as much as I do plastic modelling. I only wish I could see the OP's pics as they're not hosted on Dakka's gallery. :( Sounds like he's put a lot of work into them, given the appreciation he's received so far.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

Ah slippery slope theory, yes because the end result of allowing my cat to sleep in my bed is shagging and making weird cat-human furry hybrid children.
Paper terrain and paper miniatures are two completely different concepts, being cool with one does not require you to be cool with another. There are plenty of people who use paper terrain, plenty of companies that manufacture it as well. As for your argument of "he didn't create the textures himself" I suggest you look into the video game industry. A lot of the time texture are ripped from other games, especially when it comes to indie games/mods.

I'm also wholly in support of this project finishing. I love papercraft modeling, and with a little additional work around the edges, the stuff looks great on the table.
I've picked up stuff from Dagobah Dave, Papercraft (iirc), and a couple of other online sources for Mordheim, 40k, Fantasy, and historicals.
Keep going OP!!

I make bastions/fortresses out of 5mm foam board and looks real nice, cardboard/paper tend to get banged up in travel and time wears it out fast.

You seem like the kind of person who puts your GW figs into a GW case and plays on a GW gaming mat with GW terrain. Afterwards I can only assume you sleep in your GW licensed Ultramarines footie pajamas. Building terrain from cardstock, foamboard, and random garbage is a time honored 40k tradition. Paperhammer and terrain building are two separate subjects. Just because GW has finally after more than 20 years decided to get into the business of building terrain doesn't mean we have to buy it to play 40k. In the past GW provided templates in the BRB to make your own imperial bunkers.
The printouts from DOW2 are well executed but could use refinement, sure scratchbuilding out of plastic and painting would be preferable. But this is acceptable for play.

Augustus if you want to talk about how paper is horrible start a new thread. If you don't like card stock then use foam board or plasticard. The model can easily be cut down to its components and used for plans.
Saying that card stock terrain will get wrecked after a few uses is just a plain ignorant comment. What you are stating is a personal opinion not based on experience. As for suggesting "I am Showing an impudent lack of respect" by creating paper terrain, that is just a rude comment. I prefer paper terrain because that is one aspect of my hobbies. Saying that is just as disrespectful as making hateful comments to those people that prefer metal over plastic or plastic over resin figures.
The 3D design was created by me. It was not lifted from the game. The dimensions are not the same I made them to geometrically fit with the rest of my paper terrain. Just as the fortress is not an exact copy from GW but my interpretation of them. So please stop your angry comments. You have stated your opinion on the matter and have managed to derail my thread.
Here is some pictures of some of the PAPER CARD STOCK terrain I play on, Many of these are over two years old and I'm still using them. ( BTW paper terrain is more recyclable than plastic )

The terrain is from a few different companies like World Works Games, Ebble Miniatures (which now merged with WWG) and some custom terrain I made myself.

I've been working on updating the textures in Photoshop. Little things like re-embossing the rivets, the Imperial Eagle, bullet holes, grunge effects, etc. The half bastion was just the initial test build.

Nice looking project HP.
I use a number of different types of terrain myself, from cardstock, plasticcard, plaster, etc. All of the terrain I've made still survives to this day, unless I've destroyed it on purpose.
I really like cardstock terrain for using at conventions since it's much lighter and I haven't invested as much money on it as I have say a plaster piece!
I'd much rather have a cardstock wizard's tower, that took me 10 hours to build, get destroyed while at a convention than the same one built with plaster that took me 80 hours plus to build from casting to assembly to painting!
Plus, I'm not lugging around a lot of weight!
I look forward to seeing the completed project HP! Keep up the good work!

I'd like to just say "Haters gonna hate", but Agustus does have a point about reusing textures from DoW, especially if you're releasing it to other people. ... But then again, I'm not a lawyer (despite my avatar). This might have gone over better if you'd taken textures from one of the many stock photo sites out there on the interwebs.
All that said, I am really digging what I'm seeing here! I love making terrain and I've found that papercraft terrain can look really sharp if done well. If nothing else comes of this, you're inspiring me to fire up Google Sketchup so I can design some terrain of my own.
Keep up the good work!

When my friends and I use paper terrain, we also use cardstock, however, we make it look like a paintball game and print out ads to go on the barricades and little pipe bunkers like at a paintball field. I must hand it to you, though, you make our ad terrain look like crap!

Great work... i prefer to work with cardstock tham plasticard, and used it for a lot of projects. Ppl who argue about papercraft durabilitie never used it. And if you spray some varnish over it after built it will even be like plastic to touch...
(I normally paint my cardstock models, not print them with color, but it is a matter of taste)

Keep up the good work and just ignore the haters.
Oh btw I have seen this stuff. I am going to try printing onto it and then sticking it ti plasticard for that extra strength.

What software are you using btw? I know you mentioned Photoshop, but there must be something 3D in there too.. Looks like sketchup. Have you seen this?

Again, I havent tried it myself, but it might be worth investigating. I use Maya on a daily basis so I might see what I can come up with...

If you were going to do plasticcard, why not just print it on sticky label sheets and stick the sheets on the plasticcard? or just print it on paper and spray adhesive it onto the plasticcard.
That being said I can attest that card stock terrain can easily be stronger than you'd think.
