The shipping crates came out great, and seem like possibly a simpler and quicker build than most of your work?

The yellow ones and rust work are especially effective. Annoying about the air drying clay, but I am sure you will rescue the pools.

Nice start on the new terrain. It's always fun seeing the first pic with the raw materials and the journey you take us on.

Those containers look fantastic, and they’re so simple to make! The pools look rapidly they’re going to be really cool too, once the repair work is done!

Thanks guys.

So I worked on fixing the clay (note to self, get the real DAS and not the cheap dollar store kind next time).

Now I tried to adjust the smaller bits to fit and used more clay to fill in the gaps. Then after it all dried a second time I attached it to the base with epoxy as I did not want to use PVA and have the bases warp.

So I added some bright green where the toxic goop would be leaking.

Next was the first layer of water effects.

Now I started to get excited as the brilliant yellow started to blend into the water effect. Unfortunately it did not last and just slowly dispersed almost completely.

More to come.

So basically, all my brilliant yellow dispersed. Leaving only the bright green layer I added above the dark green base coat.

So as the resin takes three days to fully cure I added some more and it did not disperse...it did a little, but not as much as I would have liked. It was weird coming back a few hours later to see the yellow had been absorbed by the resin.

Now I am a little torn if I want to add another later of my clear resin. The two pieces are solid and level.

Thoughts?

As the resin is solid and level at this stage I'd probably leave it, unless you want to add either more depth or more colours. Shame the first set of yellow dispersed completely, that was looking like a great effect.

Looking good so far, putty about the resin eating the paint but I suppose it’s part of the learning curve. Keep up the good work.

Even without the quantity of yellow you wanted, still a great effect.

I decided to experiment with some additional layers (and add some bubbles), while I was waiting for the pools to dry (and be photographed) I worked on another piece.

This one is a ruined building/gang hideout, using a collapsed building with sprue rubble and some cut-up bulkheads to make a tower.

On the flat surfaces I add some simple graffiti including all the clan names and the names of guys in my gaming circle.

Next up I should have photos of the finished toxic pools.

Always good to see relevant graffiti on terrain. Like the broken and rusty top to the tower.

Finally happy with the toxic pools. While not the greatest photo, you can see the plumes in each pool as well as the bubbles.

That looks awesome, now it is really toxic. And the waste in the left pool looks a little bit like a scorpion that was disected.

The extra toxins helped bring the pools up another level Captain. They look like they’re showing the currents in the pool really nicely. How’d you make the bubbles

Thanks gobert, the bubbles were just cheap half pearls from the dollar store, got two sheets of them in a pack of which I used less than one row, the other 11 rows and the extras have gone to Mrs. Captain Brown and Ms. Captain Brown's craft boxes.

As promised some better photos of the toxic pools.

Hey CB,

Amazing work on the toxic pools - it was a journey but they turned out incredible. I love how the leakage from the bigger pipe almost looks like a giant mutated scorpion is going to emerge from the pool - you can hear the boss music playing if you listen hard enough...

The bricks and rubble around the bases of your terrain never fail to impress me. Such a minute detail that just sells the whole thing. Looking forward to more as always!

Thank you tzurk,

The rubble is actually just sprue rubble over a Styrofoam base with sand and PVA glue...I just have to make certain I use only a small amount of glue on the base to keep it flat.

Now there were several requests for a shot of all the terrain I have been making on this thread so far. Here is a shot, not a great one as some terrain is meant for 40K and some for Necromunda and some for both.

What I really want to try is to build one of the original terrain piece towers from the first edition game. I have some 0.4mm plastic card that should fit nicely into the plastic bulkheads. Like what dsteingass https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/399826.page or insaniak https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/270/769413.page have done.
