I ddint see this posted yet, so I figured I would post it.

From Bols, :
Hi guys,

The birds are singing away, and we have heard the magic date is March-2009. The Stompa is coming.

It is still unknown whether March will see the release of several of the rumored Apocalypse plastic kits hinted at here as a standalone "Apocalypse month", or if the larger kits will be rolled into their armies normal release windows. That version of things would see the Stompa released with the 2nd-wave ork releases and the IG superheavies rolling out with the new Ig codex. Time will tell.

~There is still no word on the size of look of the Stompa, and the 2 shown above were scratchbuilds for the Apocalypse book. As soon as we get anything you guys will be the first to know.

Should be interesting. looks like Apoc did pretty well if GW is releasing so many plastic Apoc kits.

I'd prefer a battlewagon.
But a stompa would be cool.

boss, its half the fun to build a wagon
building a stompa loses its "fun" after the st 600 or so bolts go on -_-

I should say so. All rumors about the initial Apocalypse release have been strong, and my understanding is that Apoc was a huge contributor to 2007. And I guess Reload did well, so GW's going to keep at it. Which is awesome, because Apoc is fun.

Hopefully, the Stompas sell well (as they should), allowing for FW to sell Gargant upgrades and forcing additional sales of Superheavies. Why? Because I want Eldar Cobra & Scorpion models in plastic, and it's going to take Stompa sales to green-light the Engines of Vaul!

I saw that the other day on BOLS, but then again, that rumor pops up with irritating regularity, so much so that I've given up caring whether it's true or not. If it arrives in the store, I'll buy three but I'm not going to drive myself crazy about it. Saw the CAD drawings of the battlewagon sprues, they're pretty interesting. I've already converted one battlewagon from a 1/35 king tiger tank model. It works for now but is not that great. I refuse to make 10,000 rivets, so here I sit, with no superheavies. Sigh...

I keep hearing this from various sources as well, so much so that I am really believing that is is on its way. This would be the superheavy that really interests me the most.

Hopefully it looks more like that stompa sketch that was released (leaked?) about the same time as those other ork concept sketches some time ago. I would rather that it did not have that big moving bell-shape design, or at least would hopefully have articulated legs, and not just feet sticking out from under a skirt.

I keep hearing about this "second wave" of ork releases.

So i'm thinking - plastic stompa, grots, the nob bikers and the battle wagon all emerging about the same time? Q1 next year ??

I'm curious to see if GW does any more Apocalypse expansion books. It seem un-GW like not to accompany a release like whats rumored with some publication.

This has been popping up for a while now. Im kinda surprised they'd do such a kit. The Baneblade has more universal appeal while the rumoured Thunderhawk has more people playing marines to buy it.

Keeping my fingers crossed though. All the new shiny ork stuff supposed to be out in Q1 09 points to good sales so who knows.

Wonder just what this thing will end up looking like. I just hope it's not like the squat gargants they've done for epic, but it probably will be because of that's what they did for the Apoc conversions as well.

And since I came across this link just today by coincidence... http://www.irondogstudios.com/images/tater/mek_tater.html

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

There are other applications for these large-scale Ork kits. With the Trukk, and with the (eventual) Battle Wagon and Stompa, you suddenly have a wealth of very Orky bits.

Now take the Cities of Death buildings and all all those Orky bits to the mix. Now you can do Orky buildings, customised 'Orky Forts' and stuff like that. Crazy stuff.

Not to stroke my own... ego... but I posted this news after Games Day LA.

It was confirmed as finished in the trade sales meeting/seminar, the only impediment to being released was that the parts were on too many sprues, and the kit was therefor too costly. We were told in the trade sales meeting that they were thinking January, to go with all the other Ork releases, but I can see it getting pushed back 2 months, easily... it's a massive project.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Oh, and Battlewagon was 'confirmed' for January, as well.

Poop, I should have just read the whole thread and made one post, lol.

January Ork releases are as follows (according to the LA GD trade seminar): plastic nobs, plastic battlewagon, more intricate deffkoptas in their own packaging, the metal zagstrukk, grots... and I think I'm forgetting something.

I've been burned so many times before with battlewagon promises that I can't believe it's true until I see it.
I'll be buying the entire second wave anyway though. Because I have a problem.

Not 100% sure, but if memory served, it didnt make it into 2nd Edition Lines.

But they did print the datacard for it, which was included in the boxed game until 2nd edition was withdrawn in the late 90s.

I've no idea why they stopped making it, I always wanted one. Orks love their spped and racing around, but for years the orks had nothing but a few bikes, then towards the very end of 2nd edition they got the Trukks and Traks from Gorkamorka. But these were still lightweight, puny, undersized vehicles. The Battlewagon is gaping hole in their range they've left unfilled for years, even the Forgeworld one only appeared relatively recently and is beyond the means of most gamers.

It's peculiar, the production of the original Battlewagon just stopped, did they break the mould? The story is much the same for the Land Raider, they were put out of production leaving a major hole in the Space Marines support for years.

On moon miranda.

I think they broke their mold for the Battlewagon, and never wanted to reinvest in making a new one.

Haven't they broken up a lot of their older moulds? They used to have a service where you could have just about any old figure recast but this seems to have been wound up, and now the classics/collectors area of their site seem full of stuff only a couple of year old. The bulk of stuff is just unavailable. As far as I'm concerned, if it was produced since the release of 40K 3rd edition, it's not a 'classic' figure.

I don't see how the moulds get broken. They are made of steel!

Well, unless it is cast with a flaw in it. Thats possible I suppose.
