My turn to be roasted methinks. My first list for 5th edition both Chaos & 40K! For friendly games mostly so I'm just posting this to judge reaction as its mostly going to be a fun themed army with lots of oppurtunities for whacky modeling! Try and guess where the inspiration for some of the entries come from Some units are in the works, some just need re-painting/remodeling. I wil try and put up pics later in the right section.

The army is mean to be highly mobile, mercenary CSM force. I know everyone hates Spawn and pooh-poohs daemons in a CSM list, regarding them as cannon fodder.
Yup, so they are - and pretty good at it too. Shooty armies like Tau cant afford to let the daemon bomb amongst their lines so need to fire at it. If it dies thats one less section of shooting going at my other stuff, who are either preparing to pick off targets or driving/running towards the shooting line!
Same for the Spawn - slow & purpouseful yes, but as they have no range weapon they are virtually forced to Run - 2D6 movement per turn, on average about 8 inches! As they regard everything as rough terrain they can plough through pretty much anything on the way! Mindless - no prob, it just makes sure at least one enemy unit will be firing at it (likely its intended target ) - more shots absorbed. If by some miracle it gets to enemy lines - until it dies, 3 WS3 S5 attacks per turn - like fantasy Ogres! The little daemons are more of a distraction, but again are not too bad in cc, at least as goot as most shooters & they can prevent shooters doing what they're paid for for for another round!
Hopefuly the delay will allow my other troops to get into action elsewhere & then can sweep into the shooters who thought they were done fighting melee!

Against combat-orientated armes this works slighltly differently - the daemon units & spawn tie up some enemy units in combat long enough so I can deal with the army piecemeal.

Combined arms like loyalist space marines - ok a bit tougher, but still do-able, just have to keep moving, concentrate on one area & screen the rest!

Anti-daemon lists like Witchhunters and Grey Knights are a possible headache, but then again not all of my stuff is daemon based - while thy're busy killing the daemon units the rest of my force are free to pick targets!

When all is said and done the dice will decide , with this lot at least I'll have a laugh at the expression on my opponent's face!

The berserkers will need a transport. Drop the Possession on the Noise's Transport (it's still fun to model, you don't have to pay the points for it) and scrap out another 15 points from somewhere (an icon and that combi-plas on the Chosen Champ maybe?). Lessers are are great if you need cheap fodder (which you do). I suppose your just missing bodies, but it looks fun as hell to play.

Point taken - just hate to have my degenerates derailed by a simple 'crew stunned' even for a turn. Oh well, with my luck my opponent will roll a 6 anyway Curses, now I have to source another transport ...

Of course you had to Curses again - noo you got me thunkin . I was already going to put a set of dummy speakers that flipped up when you opened the top hatch. Now i'm gonna have to pumb a real mini speaker into the thing & get sound to it somehow!
Will see if I can post my progress in the WIP forums - as soon as I get another Rhino or similiar

Oh! I totally just remembered one of the best conversion bits ever. I was planning on making a Chosen squad with these: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1080001&prodId=prod1860240&rootCatGameStyle=wh40k

You could use that on your Nurgle Sorc. I do hope you remember to post pics of the sprues, as I want to see how many claw things it comes with.

Hee Hee guess who I used as a base for him - old Bile himself - just took his head off & added one from a plaguebearer modded his needler to be a combi-weapon, added extra arms ex the same plaguebearer. Am busy adding flight pack - two halves of a large seachlight opened out. Will post pics soon.

Post match 1 with this lot, the following mods:

CODEX/ARMY BOOK CHAOS SPACE MARINES
ARMY NAME DOOMBRINGERS
CHAOS ALLEGIANCE All 1499
HQ
Morticus the Doom Surgeon 190
Chaos Sorceror, Mark of Nurgle, Gift of Chaos, Flight, Familiar, Doombolt, TL Bolter, Force weapon, Personal Icon
Morticus was great (look on opp's face when I turned his prized Tau Stealth team leader into a Spawn was priceless), but he needs some dakka at medium range - hence the Doombolt.
Doom Surfer 220
Chaos Sorceror, Mark of Tzeentch, Disc of Tzeentch, Wind of Chaos, Warptime, Personal Icon, Force weapon & bp
Found the Surfer was great in cc but his BofC got cover-saved hence the WoC - no more hiding
ELITES
Creepy Doom 261
Chosen Marine Champion Insidious: P/fist
6 Marines: bolters etc, M/L, 2xmeltagun, IofN
No change here - sat in cover for most of the game and accounted for a Tau Hammerhead (krak missile) and a Crisis Battle suit (meltagun) so will be used again. Cover + T5 = unscathed unit

TROOPS
Doomratz 213
Skull Champion Wolfsbane: Pair L/claws
7 Khorne Beserkers
Ratwaggin (Doomratz transport) 35
These dudes were awesome - were responsible for 3 KP's on their own after running in (ride got destroyed when emerged from cover)! I just am giving the champ even more killing power.
Doomplayas 255
Noise Champion Jaggered: P/fist, Doom Siren
6 Noise Marines: Blastmaster (Beatlejuice) 5 Sonic blasters
(FreddyK, Brainmaimed, Kenbooze, Ronbellow, Deakon)
Ka-Doef-Doef (Doomplayas Transport) 35
Rhino Transport, Possession
Didnt really do much - vaped one crisis battlesuit with a long range Blastmaster shot. Will give them another go.

DeathDeath 65
5 Daemon Ratmen (Lesser Daemons)
Got gunned down turn after appeared, thus fullfilling their meat shield role. Will keep, for that and filler.

FAST ATTACK
Kill Usss! (Morticus's test subject) 80
2 Chaos Spawn
Although it didnt get into combat its prescence attracted enough attention, my opponent wasted up to 3 rounds of shooting at it. I figure I may as well give it a pal and see if I can find them something to fight!

HEAVY SUPPORT
Deathklaw 155
Chaos Defiler, upgrade HF to Havoc Launcher
Wiped out half a squad of Fire Warriors before being Railcannoned to a pile of rubble. Will consider new tactics for next game, maybe the Battlecannon will hit this time, damn the new Codex that dropped the old indirect fire optiion!

Dropped the Oblit, to make room for upgrades and Spawn.

You can only take a TL bolter if your Sorc has termie armor. And if he has termie armor he can't have flight (not sure if you meant wings or a jump pack.)

Also Skull champions can't take lightning claws. That would be pretty mean if they could.

Yeah, Blackdraco is right. I did the math and you didn't even pay for the TL bolter. You also payed 16 points for dual lightning claws. Blighter, I've written 3 second paragraphs, but every time I finish I go back and find something else in your list/math is inconsistant. How large is the Noise Marine squad (total models), it doesn't have a Blast Master in the list and does the Rhino actually have possession? I'll leave this second paragraph, but you might have to spend all the points you save on legalizing the list.

I do know how to optimize this though. If you changed Doomsurfer to a daemon prince with the same load out (DP base cost is 10 points higher), you actually save 10 points. The Mark and flight cost less, heh. Drop flight, Familiar and Doombolt on the Surgeon and stick him in the Rhino with the Berserkers, saving you 35pts there. All he will need is to turn the Powerfist (or equivilant) of the squad his squad is about to charge into a spawn and then beat them with his power weapon. This warrents extra armor on the rhino, which is fine. After legalizing the Berserkers, they come up to 237 (including upgraded Rhino and Powerfist). You have still saved 21 pts. Drop the Havoc Launcher on Deathklaw (he really doesn't need it) and the new spawn (you'll be getting them for free when the Surgeon hits their line anyway). Now you have 65pts freed up. Use them to fill in your squads.

Only problem I can see is that Morticus can't join the 'zerkers once disembarked from the Rhino - different Marks! That means the opponent can target him seperately until he either creates a Spawn (which should be rather sooner than later) or can join up with some summoned daemons.

Oh well - thats what T5 3 wounds & 3+ normal/5+ invulnerable saves are for after all. Anyway if they're anything like the last guy the attention will be on the marauding 'zerkers most of the time.

Will keep y'all posted on progress.

Uhh, I've never played 4th Edition or our old Codex so I'm never out of date. However, that rule is. Mort is fine to run with the Zerkers.

Your list cleaned up beautifully. They now have something scarier to shoot at than the Defiler (so he might survive). Mort's poor fool of an experiment is a nice cheap distraction. I am one of those people who slims down to cram as many threats as I can in, so 295 for a squad of 6 and a Rhino hurts my mind a bit. Now you have 4 scoring units, though, which is essential in 5th.

Good job, wish I could play against you some time.

Thanks Darkhound! Actually its 7 in the Noise squad including the Champion but I get your drift. I want to test that out thoroughly, may decide to replace them with a squad of Plague Marines with plasmas.

In my fluff anyway Morticus only made his pact with Papa Nurgle to be able to surivive the Destroyer Plague, otherwise he's just your typical deranged scientist

In fact he created the 'zerkers; encountered a planet which had a population of mutant ratmen, descedants of Hrud led by an autocracy that was not averse to experimentation & which despises the Imperium for their purges of anything that isn't considered human! With the help of Morticus and his deviants they overthrew the human overlords on the planet.
When a force of Space Marines were sent to intervene, the combined forces slaughtered many of the loyal Astartes. Of course the world was subsequently targeted for Exterminatus, but Morticus had forssen that & invited key members of the rat heirarchy on board his fleet, along with the best of the potential warrior breeding stock. Morticus of course made sure to harvest as many progenoid organs from dead Space Marines as he could. However the local humans were nearly wiped out in the uprisings and the remainder couldn't be trusted so he looked to the mutant ratsf ro potential as he troops he needed. Using his skills as an Apothecary and his connection to the Warp he eventually succeeded in creating a super-rat hybrid and with the rat scientists refashioned the dead Astrates' power armour to fit the rat's anatomy where neccessary
The rats already had a pantheon that they worshipped and they made the appropriate sacrifices. Being that these were to be warriors their war god was especially venerated. Khorne must have heard their pleas as the new creations rasped out praises to the Blood God in a mixture of their rat-speak and human speech as soon as they could do so.

Warriors without peer, they are Mortcus's shock troops and he always has a number in his forces when he goes out on his murderous raids.

If you're ever considering a trip to SA, come & bring the minis! I have a number of opponents for you down here. I'll give you a personal tour of my part of the world into the bargain!

Interesting. I know a thing or two about Plague Marines, being a Nurgle Devoute myself.

They statistically have the same save as a Terminator, better toughness and uber-grit like the your CSM (CCW&pistol&bolter). The epic win of them is being a tar-pit or objective baby-sitter. Get up close where your bolters do their best, and the enemies return fire will flounder off of their T5 83% save. If they charge, you toss blight grenades and tar-pit them for the rest of the game. I bring a Greater Daemon and don't take Powerfists on anything, but your PMs would need it give said tar-pit teeth. They really need to be sitting on objectives outside of Annihilation. In Seize Ground though, push them up to the farthest objective you can and leave daemons to guard the others. Plasmaguns make the best use of their dual purpose, being able to fire at 24" with the rest and rapid fire with terrible potency. Flamers and Meltaguns are better when you have more troops to cover other objectives, so Plague Marines can serve their close fighting purpose better.

Golden Rule: Make them make choices, and make every choice the wrong one. Plague Marines show this rule by themselves, as opposed to countering flanks, targeting whichever unit etc..

Thanks for the offer man, I might take you up on it in a couple years here.

Thanks for the advice mate, appreciated. I'm going nowhere despite whatever our government post April 22 elections get up to, even having an incumbent state prez thats an eediot wont deter me. So you're welcome to drop by, just let me know so that I can prepare the appropriate reception

Heres a list variant I might try:

CODEX/ARMY BOOK CHAOS SPACE MARINES
ARMY NAME DOOMBRINGERS
CHAOS ALLEGIANCE All

HQ
Morticus the Doom Surgeon 170
Chaos Sorceror, Mark of Nurgle, Bike, Gift of Chaos, Force weapon, Personal Icon

Doom Surfer 205
DP, Mark of Tzeentch, Wings, Wind of Chaos, Warptime

ELITES
-

TROOPS
Doomratz 279
Skull Champion Wolfsbane: P/fist, 7 Khorne Beserkers, Rhino transport w. extra armour

Plaguebringers 307
Plague Champion Undertaker: P/fist, Personal Icon, 8 Plague Marines: 2 Plasmaguns
Rhino transport

DeathDeath 65
5 Daemon Ratmen (Lesser Daemons)

Darkhounds 65
5 Flesh Hounds (Lesser Daemons)

FAST ATTACK
Doomriders 242
Biker Champion Ghast Rider, P/fist. 3 Bikers: IofN, 2 Meltaguns

Kill Meee! (Morticus's test subject) 40
1 Chaos Spawn

HEAVY SUPPORT
Deathklaw 150
Chaos Defiler

Total: 1497 pts

As you can see its an even faster list than the last one, even the PMs can get around pretty fast due to the Rhino. If they are forced to footslog or need to babysit an objective they have the numbers to do so. I've always liked the idea of Nurgle Bikers, now I can do it with Morticus at the head - very fast Spawn & Lesser Daemon delivery with teeth . T6 plus the inv save from the turbo-boost should make the biker attack difficult to stop

Comments welcome as always
