Headed off to work, but perhaps people will have items posted for me to read whilst I'm on lunch.

Tell me a story of a game you played where it was so lopsided it wasn't even funny, but you possibly won - in amazement to everyone.

Forever alone

My ten-man grot squad killing Abbadon and his five terminator bodyguards in one round of CC. That was the single most awesome moment of my life.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

My 750pt eldar army which is good at killing marines but not hordes took on a nid army the other day.

I thought i was screwed!! But he charged 3 squads of gaunts at my wraithlord! They could not hurt it and spent the rest of the game in combat. These were all his troops.

My guardians then claimed all the objectives after my war walkers had killed his tyrant in one turn of shooting!

After 4 further turns of me sitting on each objective and killing 2 gaunts a turn, I won

It just proves two things:-

Know your foe ie dont charge your troop at a unit they can't hurt.

and 2, remember the objectives

A little elf vs skaven action a few years ago. Up until the 4th turn this guy was just killing me (I had maybe 3 units out of 9 left). He had a greyseer and several of the other magic users and he was rolling really well in all phases. Then in the bottom of the fourth I won a combat, then another, then another. Top of 5th he had 3 miscasts. Two of his 3 wizards blew themselves up, and the greyseer and other hero got chased down in the same phase. At the end of the game I had won by 200 some points. The look on his face was priceless (we play fairly regularly so i can give him crap).

My Skaven vs Empire. my initial left flank charge was getting slaughtered. the plague monks and censer bearers were being cut down by hand gunners and cannon, the stormvermin were next... on my right flank a few blocks of slaves and clanrats, mostly ignored... 2 Skaven slaves and a warlock engineer found a block of 30 empire halberds its the army commander and lvl 4 Wiz, wheeled and facing to the left...I charged the flank... coming in with 2's across the board Skaven slaves are mostly crap, and good for only catching arrows...these two and the engineer cut down 2 empire Halberds to the lost of one lowly 2.5 point slave...they lost combat, my friend rolls with the crown of command and rolls boxcars...they break and flee 2d6 of 6 inches and slave runs 3d6 14 inches, they whole 28man unit is cut down by a slave and a lvl 1 wizard...

Imperial Guard HQ squad containing a senior officer, medic, standard bearer, and melta gun wielder (vox guy died right quick) were tank shocked by an Eldar wave serpent and the melta-man went Death or Glory. Wrecked the wave serpent and went on to kill a dire avenger squad.

Mind you these are the only figs I have left on the table except for a fleeing mortar squad.

Climactic moment of the game, guard and Nids both have 2 objectives.

8 man guard squad runs to both get away from stealers and get to objectives...fail by an inch.

Now the stealers , move, fleet, charge (6 stealers with preferred enemy). If they wipe out the guardsmen they can massacre on a 3+ into the objective's zone.

Then they wiff. And the guard kill one.

And the nids break...and get run down.

And the guard massacre onto the objective.

And the guard win 3/2.

The Emperor protects.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I have these sort of games every time I take on Wood Elves.

I just suck against Wood Elves. Never won, never drawn, only every lost. I could complain about their rather suspect 'free forest' rule, but it is largely down to me just being rubbish against them.

I'm playing against sisters and my Khorne army is making it's dash across the battlefield. I think almost all of my zerker squads were at half strength. My opponenet was hording his faith points for the upcoming CC that would be bloody to say the least. All my summons come on the same turn, which also happened to be the primary assault turn. I wiped out or ran down every squad with a faith user in it on the same turn. I tabled him and he still had like 17 faith points. The Blood God was with me that day.

When I first started playing I was in this league that started out at 1000 points. Every time you lost a game, you'd add 250 points to your army total for the next week to a maximum of 2000 points. Idea being to even out player skill with additional points.

By Week 5 I'm a perfect 0-4 and am bringing a whoping 2000 points of Imperial Guard. I get paired up with an undefeated 4-0 Ork Speed Freaks player with 1000 points.

By the end of turn 2 he had killed about 1000 points of my army. In the subsequent turns he proceeded to dismantle my static gunline piece by piece.

I thought I had could turn the tide during this one turn, when I surrounded a trukk full of boyz with a 5 man squad of vets w/ 3 x Plasma and an infantry squad. The vets blow up the trukk. That is, they get an explodes result which promptly clears a mass of Guardsmen and Veterans so his boyz could have room do disembark (this was 4th edition, no Emergency Disembarkation).

Yeah those were fun times.

First game of Tau in 5th edition. The only thing keeping me in a draw is one squad of fire warriors holding my home objective.

A Winged Hive Tyrant lands 2 inches away, and rolls to see how far he can assault onto the hill my fire warriors are on.

He rolls three 1's I blast him next turn, and get the draw!

First game of 4th edition Tau, my 1st game over 1000 points. My friend who plays IG is trying to teach me how to play the game.

Turn 1, my railhead shoots his Leman Russ. 3-6-6. Boom, Leman Russ blows up, forces two HW and a Vet squad to retreat, right off the table. He manages to knock a Burst Canon off of a 'Fish.

Turn 2, two squads of FW get in Rapid Fire range, and my Devilfish pulls a FoF. 3 guard squads go away. My stealth suits kill his HQ squad, and my Flamer equipped crisis team kills the last HW squad. He folds.

Grand total? Over 50 IG dead, Tau lost one Burst Canon.

Played a handicap match at a con, marines vs. orcs, he had about 750 points to my 500. All I had on the table that could hurt the dread that he had was a missle launcher (the con provided the models). First shot of the game, I blew that thing sky high and took about a dozen orcs with it that were all crowded up around it.

My "impossible oddities" both involve my Howling Banshees.

The first was in an RTT in Indy back in 3rd. edition. 10 Banshees and my Farseer hopped out of the back of the Wave Serpent just outside some woods that a 15-man unit of Space Wolves were inside of. On my next turn, I charged in and wiped the squad. I killed 8 of them outright and, when the rest of them broke, I ran them down.

The second was in 4th edition. My squad of 8 Banshees charged a 5-man squad of Thousand Sons and killed them ALL on the first round of combat. This was back when they had two wounds...

Speedy Swiftclaw Biker

My most lopsided moment was when my opponent dropped a pod with a venerable dread in it onto my jump pack Blood Claws on his first turn, knowing full well that jump pack claws (being biker claws without the bike) can only take krak grenades. He didn't pay attention to the shoulderpad insignia marking their pack leader as a Wolf Guard (who can take melta bombs. hee.) so I charge it on my turn and he looks at me funny. "You can only glance that, and on a 6 no less. What are you doing?" Got one glance and the bomb did a pen, both coming up weapon destroyed. With the 'oh gak, that guy has melta bombs' expression still on his face, he asked me to reroll one of them. He didn't specify, so I rerolled the pen. BOOM! Bwa ha ha ha. (This would have been a bit less unbalanced, but this pack didn't have a powerfist, they all had power weapons for fast killings of support squads)

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Ulthwe Strike Force, both ways, both against Nids. Me hammering them and one game where they pounced over the portals before I had a chance.

Speaking of which, my own Nids vs Guard. Hormies needed "anything but a 1" to Fleet and Assault their lines. And what do I roll.

I have a few,

5th edition, my buddies eldar vs. my orks. I have a footslogging horde army, with grotz at the front. He charges 10 harlequins at 20 grotz. The harlequins kill 3 grotz, the grotz kill 3 harlequins. Wait, we drew combat? The trend continues for 3 more combat phases, and my 20 grotz kill off his harlequins at the expense of 12 grotz.

The following week, post my grotz triumph over the cc machines, I decide to take them in a small points game (300) against tau. I get the charge against 5 fire warriors in cover. The fire warriors kill 4 grotz, the grotz kill one fire warrior. The grotz fail their moral check and lose 2 more for a reroll. Next round the fire warriors kill 3 more and the unit breaks. I am still not sure if grotz are worth taking.

Local tourney, I'm using Thousand Son themed CSM and I'm matched against a Tri-Falcon list. I'm the defender in the scenario so all I have to do is hold a building and I win. So far I'm getting spanked and I'm down to one scoring unit, a half strength unit of Terminators with a Reaper in the building and a Flying Prince with Wind of Chaos. I got the Terminators set up so the Eldar player can't draw LoS to them from the majority of his army. So the scene at the end of the 5th turn is my 4 models staring down 3 Falcons, one filled with Banshees and the other with Harlies. As long as my opponent inflicts a wound or gets a squad into the building we draw, if he does both he wins.

I decide to at least go down fighting. Jump the Prince in close to the empty Falcon and Banshee Falcon clip both of them with WoC. Both 4s to glance both roll 5s and 6s on the damage chart. This is 4th ed. btw so the Banshees are entangled. Terminators fire their Reaper, glances the last Falcon, double 6s, flaming wreckage. Certain defeat turned to victory.

After I stop shaking my raised fists and yelling "CHAOS!", my opponent and I are about to call it since he can't do anything. Cue TFG walking by, looks at the table and tells my opponent he can tank shock my Terminators out of the building with a nearby Wave Serpent. My opponent didn't know Skimmers could shock through buildings so naturally he TShocks the Termies. I can still fit one model in the building, but now he can see my Terminators. I fail a save from a Ranger squad and it ends in a draw.

Well I once took out a Carnifex with a unit of 3 Hellions. The dice were pretty amazing, all hit 4 sixes to wound and then three ones to save. It had already taken a couple of lance wounds so this was enough to kill it. Next turn however they charged a unit of Biovores and were eaten alive.

Any game I have played against my buddy Jason. Any other player he rolls normally, even poorly.

Against me, the guy can't roll less than a 5. EVER.

In a 1000 point game he tabled my Tyranids on Turn 3 and lost a total of 1 Scout and 1 Marine. And I knocked a Lascannon of his Predator.

2nd round of a local small tournament...
1 objective in each deployment zone...
the kid im facing, marines i think? idk either soul drinkers or emperors children (chaos), and im playing nids
normal 12" deployment

anyway, he puts his objective in a bunker - fortress like piece of terrain in his DZ, i put mine behind a small hill in my DZ and park some gaunts on it...
he decides to deploy basically every squad he has, save a predator and a small devastator squad or something like that, in this fortification, which is about 8 inches from the edge, and the objective is about 14" from the edge...

turn 2, i start rolling for reserves; outflanking genestealers...

6 genestealers: coming in
8 genestealers: coming in
broodlord w/ 6 stealers: coming in
all on turn 2
for table sides, i roll a 1, a 5, and a 6...

...the same side as his fortification.

his army got 1 round of shooting on some gaunts and a few carnifexs before getting assaulted by stealers turn 2...
he surrenders by the end of turn 3, with nothing but the predator, 2 devs, and a few random marines still stuck in combat

Gathering the Informations.

Ran a Warhammer Skirmish mission, specifically: Ambush playing as the Wood Elves. It felt too lopsided towards them with the release of the new army book, so we changed the force composition of what they're ambushing to be nothing but Bone Giants and a Liche Priest. It was a blast, but one moment really stuck out more than anything else:
One Waywatcher getting charged and using a Stand and Shoot reaction against a Bone Giant, and somehow downing it without any help from the others.
