Any idea of any other settings I can reduce to help it run better? Already have everything at low or no, so I don't know if I can do anything else outside of getting a new computer.

On a side note I like the ability that the american tanks have to utilize the sniper spots in certain maps. Low turrets are a bane to hiding in bombed out buildings, a lot of high turrets for the US tanks.

What are the stats on your comp? This isn't that graphically intensive a game.

My PC is a year old, it's a mostly entry level dell i7, but the money I saved on it I dumped into a hefty video card that was almost $400 thinking I'd have an awesome gaming rig. It works well, but I probably should have saved some cash and not gone so high tech because I really don't do much pc gaming anymore. In my old age I just prefer the sofa and ps3. But, in the game I get around 40-60 fps with 2x anti alias at full HD resolution.. 1900somethingXwhatever. There are some times though usually when zoomed in full sniper mode, when I fire the gun I get some slowdown and skipping. Also the game seems to freeze for a split second sometimes when I run over fences and walls. I dunno if thats my PC or the game...

I usually have pings in the 30's though, but I don't think the pingometer works right because the number doesn't change even when it's lagged.

I guess I play heavies wrong, I dunno.. I just feel like a heavy tank should be in front baneblade style pushing through the lines and blowing the crap outta everything around you. I do like to stay back and snipe but I usually do that with my TD. I kinda suck with the small and medium tanks, I try to spot and run, but I usually just end up dead and I get severe road rage when people crash into me on purpose when all I'm trying to do is drive by and tell my team where they're hiding. Tracking lights is mean! :(

Well, there's no wrong way to play. Do what works for you, but your best bet is to play to your tanks strengths, and minimize it's weaknesses. The IS series of tanks is well suited for an aggressive style of game play. They are very good at knife-fighting range for a heavy and are fast enough to be able to dash from cover to cover. The German heavies and KVs don't work well like that. They are designed to play more defensively and engage the enemy at range. Keep in mind, if you take a baneblade and rush it out to the middle of the table with no support or cover, every gun on the opposite side that is capable of hurting it is going to be brought to bear on it, and in a turn or two it's going to be one dead tank. Same thing happens to heavies in WoT. You have the ability to be aggressive, but you have to pick the right time and place to do so.

Aint that the truth, I took out a leapord that had tried to get me while I was in my Wespe. Just goes to show you that sometimes if you play the tank right, you'll die faster than 'playing it wrong'.

Also, finally got 5 kills, only 450xp though.

Nothing wrong with a laptop but when it comes to a 3D game onboard graphics aren't going to cut it. You're not really going to be able to do anything about it without a proper video card.

Ug, I hate the M3 Lee....its taken forever to level this thing. Its like a crappy TD pretending to be a medium tank....

Gotta say I have really started to LOVE arty. I am averaging 3-4 kills per match in my Grille and can't wait to get my Hummel.

As for campers, I still keep my fully upgraded leaopard around and I tend to win more matches then I lose, even though I rarely survive more past the first half of the game, as I usually manage to spot the enemy arty and get to watch them get blown up before or after I die .

You're one of those people... you know, its people like you who make it hard to be an arty. Coming in with your fast tanks and speeding all over the place. Being difficult to hit from a distance and telling your friends where we are. You should feel bad.

Just kidding though.

One thing I have noticed though is a lot of people complaining about arty being 'accurate', I don't know what this accuracy thing is, but if it means having your shots falling short of the target then why would they complain about that?

Seriously, why are people complaining about arty? As far as I've noticed arty has been nerfed.

Were they magically going low everyshot? I noticed that they're tending to hit at the part of the reticle closest to the firing tank.

There's nothing wrong with arty. Making it even less accurate or do less damage will make it pointless to play it. Arty gets lots of kills by people being stupid, stopping in the open while you're obviously spotted, driving in a straight line continuously, that kind of stuff gets you dead to arty. Smart players don't die to arty very often. I upgraded the gun on my Grille and while its a very powerful gun the reload is slow and my reticule takes forever to shrink.

As for rounds falling short, don't aim for the front of the tank, shoot center of mass or for the engine compartment. If half your reticule is in front of your target there's a 50% chance the shot will land short.

I do that mostly, but there are times when I have a reticle that could fit inside the tank and still land short. I've had lucky shots before though, a leapord speeding through my reticle the size of the map and a killshot happens. I have my reticle exactly on the turret of the tank with the reticle fitting the tank perfectly and it misses.

Don't know, but it makes the game interesting.

I had my first game where my entire crew was killed. I suddenly stopped moving with 71% health left and just sat there until I realized my crew was dead.

With arty when you fire at closer targets and the circle turns into an oval, I am with the lower part of the oval just touching the tank and I find it hits them almost every time. I guess since I'm not shooting up as high there's a better chance of hitting that way

I just got ahold of my leopard yesterday, but it's real slow. gonna take a while to upgrade it when it only gets like 100 xp a game

It's the angle. When you're shooting at a target nearby you're firing at a very low angle. Tiny imperfections in your vertical aim can lead to huge changes in where the round impacts hence the long oval. By putting the tank at the bottom of the oval you are aiming for it's hull. If the shot is short it'll hit the glacis or right in front of the tank. If it's high you hit the turret.

At long range the shell is falling almost vertically making horizontal side to side aiming the most important part.

The early stock Leopard will make you wish you had a Luch still. The only real advantage it has over the Luch anyways is the armor even fully upgraded.

Heh, I almost lost it the other night. Had 8 kills in one game, which tied my personal best, and was about a half second away from firing a point blank shot that would get me 9 when some SPG driver on my team who was too eager for the kill missed the guy I was shooting and landed the round on my tank instead...taking my last 100 or so health. I was so pissed but just kept my mouth shut as it happens...but it was really cruddy timing.

I kinda feel the same about the Hummel. Compared to the other SPGs below it, it takes forever to reload and was pretty innaccurate, even before the nerf. I pretty much only play it if I somehow have the other 4 tanks stuck in battle.

Leo is kinda junk at first, but is amazing once you have it fully upgraded and a 100% crew in it. Still my favorite non-heavy tank.

Heh, oh yeah, a maxxed out Leo will eat any of those for lunch. It has amazing armor for a scout, a nice gun, and the best mix of speed and manuverability of any tank in the game. Well driven, a Leo can go against just about any other t4 tank or lower and expect to win.

There is some really good advice here: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/2851-faq-scouting-with-a-leopard/

Another good guide: http://www.elcomesoft.com/2010/10/world-of-light-tanks-wot-guide.html

That's where I first learned the ins and outs of it. Some of it is a bit dated (stuff like the crew percentages, and the optional equiptment), but most is still pretty true. The main thing that you have to keep in mind is that pure speed won't save you anymore, like it would prior to the last patch. You have to jink more now (without losing much overall speed), plan your approach more carefully, and have a little bit of luck. Keep upgrading it, get the crew up to 100%. I personally felt there was a noticeable difference between 75% crew and 100% crew in regards to speed and manueverability, which I can't really say about most of my other tanks. For equiptment upgrades I took the spall liner, coated optics, and crew ventilation. Spall liner will help negate some critical hits to vital things like your engine and such, coated optics helps you perform your main role (scouting) more efficiently, and crew ventilation gets every little speck of speed out of it.

The big thing I've found is discipline. It may be real tempting to just dive into that SPG that you can see, but you may be better served by driving back out, then getting in again a bit later when some of the opposition is worn down.

I had that match last night in my Grille. 18 shots and I think I got 2 solid hits. For whatever reason I just could not get zeroed in on my targets. This one American T29 was just other worldly. The guy seemed to know exactly when to jink to cause me to miss. I'd be watching him, he'd be sitting still, or he'd be straight lining, I'd get him set up, fire, and he'd stop. My shot would land 20 feet in front of him. Or he'd move for the first time in twenty seconds and it would land behind him. It was insane and it wasn't like I was firing as fast as I could load either. It's like the guy was watching my screen. I fired at least ten shots at him and not one of them hit. The closest I got was tracking him and knocking 2% off him. That was it.

Tank Destroyers can be fun. You get a nice bonus to concealment. If you're going to focus on them I'd buy a camo net and transfer it from tank to tank.

I think the Marder II on the German side is one of the most fun tanks I've had the chance to play in the game. With its upgraded guns it can pop holes in just about anyone it comes across in its games while being quick. The Hetzer right after it is a steaming load. My suggestion is save enough transferable XP to research right through the Hetzer tree and into the StuG III which is as much fun as the Marder II.

I just started on the Russian side and the AT-1 was pretty fun in low tier games where that 57mm gun at its peak can shoot clean though most tanks in its matches. The transition to the SU-76 is a lot like the Hetzer.

Sad, as the hetzer should be a good tank, very easy to conceal, fast moving, etc.

Actually the Hetzer isn't all that fast. 160 hp pushing 16 tons put it on the low end of the power/weight ratio for WWII armored vehicles. Also, when you first start you don't get the final design Hetzer, you get the early design Hetzer that had the 100hp engine.

It also has a lot to do with the matchmaking set up in the game. The Marder II is a tier 3 tank and therefore winds up mostly in games with Tier 2, 3, and 4 tanks where it's gun is powerful and speed good. The Hetzer is a tier 4 tank which is sort of the open season tier. You can wind up in some tier 3/4 games and be relatively dominant due to your armor but you can also wind up in tier 5+ battles where your gun is a joke and your armor paper. At that point you're just a relatively slow free kill. A lot of tier 4 tanks suffer from that problem, they wind up in matches where they have zero chance against anything.

Didn't see any codes on the forum but when I applied for the registration code I got one within 24 hours.
