As for the troop price thing... Death Company/Sanguinary Guard/Devastators all fetch the same price for a 5 man box. The GK don't seem to have over-priced themselves above other marine ranges IMHO. It may not be ideal, but I figured people were used to it.

I can understands dev's as they have alot of plastic for the guns etc and they are only a 5 man squad cap (ish)

death company are insanely epensive points wise depending on equip and most people don't field more than one unit (because of having to take astorath)

sanguinary guard? normal unit per box and how many people actually use them?

the main thing is that the GK are troops and make up a core of the army its a bit too expensive if thats what your army is gonna mainly consist of

Oddly I find it completely reasonable. It's something I expected but if it does come w/2 of each heavy weapon I'm cool with it. If it's just one of each heavy weapon I'm a little less cool unless it comes w/5 swords, 5 halbers, and a few hammers then I'm ok again

I'll hold off making my decision on the pricing completely till I see the sprues. Right now I'm thinking of combining parts w/the DA Vet's sprue bodies to make a very templar-esque force for my DIY Chapter.

66 dollars for a 10 man squad is pretty high
Agreed, but it's not new or news. It's the same price as 10 Death Company or 10 Sanguinary Guard. Grey Knights Power Armor Trooper box sets were $35 US when they were made of pewter, so did anyone really expect they'd be that much cheaper in plastic? At least the plastic ones will likely come with optional extra bits and be quicker to assemble.

I'm surprised pictures haven't leaked already - saw the pre-release sheet earlier.

While the models are all nicely done, especially the terminator command squad bits, they don't seem to have the WOW factor I was hoping for.

The Jokaero looks pretty small - goblin size, is hunched over and has a few tech/bionic bits, that almost look like a mechadendrite. At his price point he seems costly, like DE razor bird costly.

A lot of the models can come with paired swords, while nice, looks a bit funny.

A plaguebearer head impaled by a great sword and severed daemonette and bloodletter heads carried as options between the power armour and termi squads.

The only major aestheic changes are the Special weapons - they all have top handles for the most part, with often over sized ammo boxes etc, looks odd. The psycannon/psilencer? no sure which one? looks like a cross between the old version, and a grenade launcher with a vehicle stormbolter ammobox stuck on.

The biggest part that they seem lacking is with the helmets sadly. They also seem to be slightly 'off' almost like the homemade ones people make by filing down normal termi heads etc, like they've taken too much off and had no time to do a replacement - but again it's only my opinion.

Despite his fluff heresies the Draigo model is very nice, termi with ornate sword and very fancy and large stormshield (think FW blacktemplar shield size, if not slightly bigger)

The guy that has rending with no power weapon (wtf???, only grey knight in the list like it as far as I know?) seems ok, but he suffers from brother captain stern style posing.

The Dreadknight while a nice and very lovely model - just does not fit the imperium of man or dare I say it even the grimdark world, far too smooth and none archaic looking, would look much better in a tau pr possibly necon army.

All the guys with hammers look great, and are holding them in lovely action poses.

The Terminators are the winners overall (it would be draigo, but his fluff marks him down ) - the Termi Apothecary bits are my personal fave. They have an impressive looking three barelled special weapon banners etc.

All the stormbolter arms look like they come open palm, closed fist, like the sanguinary guard.

The bare head for the termi captain they used somehow resembles a monkey, satyr horn or the conan style space wolf head, not a fan of it

Any questions feel free to ask.

The Teleport squad have perculiar little tesla coils that stick out of the backvents/vains.

The Termi's make both normal/paladin and cmd squd versions, and from looking at it the power armour guys come with all options, including the special/heavy weapons, though I am unsure if you need to buy more than one box to get a full unit armed with identical weapons.

edit - sorry for typos etc.

If there are going to be less models in total on the table though compared to all other armies I don't see the prices being as bad as some are making it out to be.

I wouldn't be suprised if the PAGK box has something 5-7 torsos and legs, 7-10 shoulder pads and heads, justicar upgrades, teleporter upgrades, 5 stormbolter arms, one of each special ranged weapon, 5 swords and 1-3 halberds, hammers and falchion sets.

That's some terrific info, thanks dude. How big are the new models compared to Vanilla marines? Would the hands/weapons look out of place on Vanilla marines?

He rends on a 4+, that's better than a power weapon against anything but T3.

Damn you, this is quite literally exactly what I've been doing the last couple weeks leading up to release. Just don't paint em the same color, dibs on silver!

Although, I'm not planning on using many of the new GK parts, made my own shoulder pads/etc. for these.

It was preview email so no real shots of them next to other marines, but judging from the pictures, they should and probably do work fine with other space marine kits - I'll be sourcing some of the hammer sets for sure.

No actual look at the kits or codex - just preview pictures etc, of the box art and the squads assembled/painted, think early release of the pre-order for what I saw.

No email for me one that got sent out to all the stores etc - hence why I expected it all to be up. I saw the compiled print out of said email.

Almost sounds like I'm teasing you GW info style here

Your safe. It's blue robes w/black armor w/normal dark grey highlights. Not a bit of silver except for weapon barrels in the bunch

Works out well since my standard scheme is the blue robes but white armor. Nice contrast as a specialist branch of my chapter.

I'm only teasing, there are no original ideas! I considered doing silver robes on the "there is no such thing as too much bling" premise, but then decided against it. Ok maybe I didn't really.

Mine ATM are a bit up in the air on robe color, I'm torn between the two test models I've done (one red, one blue) and the idea of maybe doing a deep purple..

Earthbeard, I'm confused about what you meant about the Captain's head. Are you saying Draigo has horns growing out of his forehead or something or is it just the design of the armor?

Do they look at least close to how the metal ones look for the terms and regular ones? is the armour more rounded and have the engravings in it?

Just stay up all night watching for the Advance Order pics to go live on the GW website. Pictures should be up in not much more than 12 hours at this point, maybe sooner since the UK is five hours ahead of the US EST.

Sorry guys let me clarify.

Draigo is brilliant - I find no fault with him modelwise anyway

I meant the reg termi captain head, the pictures made him look as silly as the space wolf head with headband (we call him conanhead locally), and his hair looks almost like a small curled satyr horn on the side (it's not, don't worry, just how it looks).

None of the Grey Knights I saw had horns of any kind.

May be pricing higher since the army will be a smaller size compared to others. Higher prices are to make sure people dont play GK just so they can buy 5 kits and have a 2000pt army....that being said I don't agree with pricing based on point cost and this really makes me recomsider purchases of any new models, with the exception of the terminators as I am already used to that price point. I play blood angels and I hate that 5 DC marines cost that much.

I already have a good start of a GK army from the Demonhunter range and I was thinking I could add some new units to really flesh out the armym but now it seems like a big investment and I may just get the codex and use the army I already have. Lame.

@lord_Osma

Are you actually complaining that GK's are cheaper than they used to be? Or that they'll come w/a psycannon and psysilencer in addition to an incinerator? Or that they should have a wide range of usable bits again for less than the bog-standard 5 man squad cost? I mean seriously...

Now I'm not a huge fan of GW pricing if only cause I'd like more stuff for the same amount of cash but honestly statements like yours drive me a little crazy. Complaining that it's going to cost less than the current range does is just silly....
