Chaos Space Marines carrying Plasma Cannons (WTF!?)

Im sure there was at least one devastator marine that went heretic while carrying a plasma cannon....
and if i was a space marine with the strength to rip an autocannon out of an emplacement and carry it around I would, just because these small parts aren't included in the tabletop game plasma cannon for whatever reason chaos don't have plasma cannons and the autocannon thing because rules would be too complex and marines unbalanced doesn't mean that if a marine were real he wouldn't do it.
And also I can't see it being too hard for a legion marine to "take" one be it from a marine or another legion.
Not having a go at OP just the easiest thing to quote

I'm guessing alongside the already announced team deathmatch and capture the doohickey we're getting a five player Hordes mode as free DLC and that's it sadly.

We were all kind of expecting some sort of announcement during GenCon but that doesn't seem to be happening (Sunday is almost never an announcement day). The web guy on their forums has been closing every co-op thread with a single sentance about 30 day free coop DLC (without specifying if that means it it'll be free for 30 days OR simply available after 30 days) and saying more info soon (which is what was supposed to happen this past week).

You know, given the Team Deathmatch and Capture and Control points, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up having Techmarines who can build Turrets and dispensers, Scouts with invisibilty who kill on backstab, and Medics who can make devastators invincible.

And hats.

and would something be wrong with that? Team Fortress has stood the test of time and is the most successful shooter in existence.

I believe the Codex does, if not, the White Dwarf article that accompanied the codex release and featured the designers notes most certainly did.

I asked one of the random dudes babysitting the demos at GenCon about the co-op, so take this all with as much salt as you can carry, and combine that with my spotty memory of the situation and my current headache, but I think he said that all they've said now is "there will be a form of co-op" and that they'd have a new announcement to make this coming Thursday.

On the space marine forums they've put up an offical co-op thread. So far this is alll we've been told:

"1.) Space Marine will have Co-Op added in 30 days give or take after launch.
a.) Why? We wanted to polish up the Co-Op aspect of Space Marine.
2.) The GameStop Co-Op call out was old information and we have a nice slate of info to cover all your Co-Op needs.
3.) Everyone who purchases Space Marine at retail (brand new) will get Co-Op for FREE. If you buy the game one year from now the Co-Op option will still be Free as long as the game is sealed brand new from retail. "

So it looks like we have to wait 30 days to access the co-op but its free as long as you purchase the game new.
Hopefully they'll tell us more about co-op at gamescom.

Not ideal but better than nothing. I just don't think it'll be able to keep the people I'm trying to get hyped on the game interested for that long with only 2 game types and 5 maps for multiplayer unless the story is 40 hours like a bethesda RPG (highly unlikely). It won't necessarily be the quality of the game that drives them away but the release period having AAA-blockbuster titles releases every 2 weeks vying for attention. Either way, I'm glad the "are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?" tactic finally worked in getting the info. Quick link for those too lazy to google...

Welcome to 2011! It's the industry standard now to have some sort of bundled DLC included in new copies only.

I just love this game, and they certainly thought about the real fans out there. Of course the real feeling of it will only be experienced when played, but I cannot wait for this awesome game to come out!

- Honour guard of T'au- 1500 pts
- Death korps of Krieg 177th regiment- 1000 pts

I see nothing wrong with it. Think of it this way, if you're buying new, you're paying extra for an added benefit, whereas if you're buying new you're forgoing the added benefit in exchange for getting it cheap. Its perfectly reasonable and you really don't have any right to complain, especially since buying preowned screws over the publisher.

If im paying 60$ american for a video game it had better have more inpack content than DLC later. Sorry but I'm not a fan of paying a 100$ for a video game with 15 or 20 hours of game play with the DLC included in that time content.

Now I will pay that much for a bulk RPG or a full fledged RTS that I can play for 100's of hours.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

How dare they care more about customers that contribute to them vs customers they get nothing from!

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

It’s not really that. The gaming industry is pretty paranoid about the used-game market at the moment, and for no real good reason. Used games have been around for years, so all this recent ‘online pass’ nonsense just reeks of profiteering opportunism.

It isn't paranoia. Retailers have been sucking the industry dry with their used game sales as these sales offer 200%+ in profits to the retailer and 0% revenue for the developers. Because of the used game market many studios have been shut down, people put out of work, and rich IPs left uncultivated after only a single offering.

Complaining about DLC that is free to customers who buy a game new is extremely low. If you buy new releases used for $5 less then you are further fueling retailers to expand their used game holdings and starving the developers, the guys that made the content you are purchasing, of their hard-earned revenues. Used game sales are slowly killing the video game industry and is the primary reason why the industry needs to go 100% digital ASAP. Only then will retailers be stopped from so easily leeching off of the work and achievements of game creators while simultaneously putting those creators out of a job.

educate us further please on this unfounded parnoia? All entertainment business markets are suffering so for them to be trying to maximize their bottom line by promoting consumers buy new is paranoia how?

This is my position on the subject as well.

You buy used, you deal with the consequences. This is becoming, increasingly, one of the consequences.

This argument has been addressed before, used game sales hurts noone, its like a used cars sale or buying a used book. The whole server costs for multiplayer argument has been addressed as well. In short its a good thing to have people on your servers, rather than have noone, it spreads brand awareness.

Its just the games industry taking away more and more from the consumer, while taking more control. Its why you see stupid things like DRM, Project 15 dollar and all that other BS.

We're on a slippery slope here as it is, it keeps going and it won't be long before they start pulling worse stunts.

We're already seeing online only for singleplayer games from companies like Blizzard and Ubisoft,it can only get worse unless people put their foot down and say no.

I dont see a problem with this at all. Co-Op is free if you buy new. I'm guessing that if you buy used you will have to buy a code online to activate Co-Op.

Seems similar to the VIP code in BatleField:BC2. If you buy new you get free access to a load of map packs. If you buy used it costs you some xbox live points to buy the VIP code and allow the download.
