Finished a few new men, the officers for my company and platoon command squads and a few melta command vets

Here is my main command squad, lead by Colonel Harris. Formerly a well decorated gunnery sergeant, he has a preference for commanding heavy weapon teams and is often found leading from the rear, providing leadership to heavy weapon squads.



Here he is close up from a few angles



Next up is Major Dickinson, and his squad of veterans. They lead from the front, frying armor and providing leadership to advancing troops and special forces gravchuting out of valkyries



The men in the squad are made from Valkyrie door gunners to represent carapace armor. Tried to get a good shot, but I suck at taking pics




And here are Lieutenant Murray and Lieutenant Smith, each leading their own platoon of 2 infantry squads and 1 heavy weapon squad.

as far as the faces go, I was just trying something a little different this time. They were primed black, so I used deneb stone on the faces first, then a wash of devlan mud, then drybrush of elf flesh and a touch of bleached bone for the highlights. They look more fleshy in person, my pic taking sucks

Next on my list I'll be putting together 2 units of vets with meltaguns. They'll be dropping out of my valkyries while the command squad will be in a chimera till I get a 3rd valk some day. But the 3 of them will form up into their own little platoon on the battlefield, while the 1st command squad will be hanging back forming another mini platoon with the heavy weapon squads my normal platoons will have.

Is your command squad gonna have that Lascannon in it? I was just wondering because I have been thinking about the same thing with a couple of my command squads.

I think it may be a way to add extra heavy weapons in the army fairly easily and cheaply (points-wise).

yep he's gonna keep that lascannon in his unit, then there will be 2 units of 3 lascannons nearby that he will be able to give orders to. Those 3 units will hang out in the back to shoot the big ones. For my 2nd heavy weapon unit I plan to magnetize the gun tripod so I can use them as a squad of lascannons, autocannons or heavy bolters depending on the game. The rest of my units will all be moving around to capture objectives and stuff like that.
