This is a hotly debated topic amongst my gaming buddies at school, as to our knowledge, neither have gone one on one without back up.
So who would win in a fight?

Yarrick, a puny, scared Imperial Commissar, going up against the biggest, greenest, nastiest, killiest Ork of all time, who happens to be S10 powerklaw and be three times Yarrick's size? You make the decision.

Hmmm.. My imperial guard buddy will be upset...

But, Yarrick wants to kill Ghaz.

Ghaz wants to keep him alive because he's entertaining.

Does Ghaz not respect him if i remember the quote in the codex since he thinks Yarrick can fight? maybe quite even due to Yarrick's powerclaw and evil eye if its in fluff... in the game I'm assuming Ghaz would paste him.

There was an article in a WD about this a long time ago, which coincided with the release of 'codex Armageddon'. It had Yarrick vs Gaz 1 on 1 in The Arena of Death. Yarrick killed Gaz once. But every other time even with back up (such as a platoon of infantry, or a leman russ) Yarrick got owned.

What I want to know is what ever happed to Makari Gaz's faithful standard bearer?

The Hardest Grot/Gretchen to ever live, he was tougher than a terminator saving throw wise due to his amazing good luck!

In one game I played he survived the combined firepower of an entire Eldar army.

They actually did this in a White Dwarf back during the Third War for Armageddon. One on one, Ghaz generally won. Over five or so rounds, Yarrick progressively added Guardsmen and eventually a Leman Russ to his aid until he could comfortably put the big guy down.

Makari got sat on and fed to a squiggoth if I remember correctly?

Now, if I remember, Ghazzy and Yarrick went one on one at Armaggedon with no result. Their reinforcements came and made them look like wimps. Back to the point, it depends on when the battle takes place, like in fifty or so years, Yarrick probably couldn't lift his claw and would get crushed, but around nowish when his is at his strongest, a strong determination and steroids would see Yarrick own that greenskin.

You know, Eldrad Ulthran really is a dick. I've said it before, and I have absolutely no doubt that I will say it again. He has skill and power of heights that are only reachable, even for most Eldar, in their dreams, and how does he use them? He uses them like this:

Years ago, a minor Ork Waaagh sprung up and launched itself against the mon-keigh world they call Lentak II. It's an insignificant planet by any definition except, apparently, Eldrad's. He summoned me and told me we were going to Lentak, and that it was of the utmost importance to see that a certain battle took a particular course. He also told me to bring along the best sniper I could find, adding that "He might come in handy," with a wink like he was passing on some kind of secret message. Typical Eldrad behavior, that.

So, we get down to the surface of Lentak and locate the "important" battle, in a rocky pass high up in a mountain range. Eldrad isn't wearing his helmet, the better to display the horribly annoying half-smile that's on his face the whole time, the one he puts on when he knows something you don't and is about to use that information. I'm busy projecting an illusion to keep mon-keigh and the Orks from noticing us, Eldrad and the sniper are just watching the battle from the rock outcrop where we're standing. Finally, Eldrad points at a particular Ork nob riding in the back of one of their wartrukks.

"That one. Take off his ear. His *left* ear. Right...now."

The sniper fires, cleanly severing the Ork's ear. The thing roars like the beast it is, looks around, and smacks the Ork beside it right off the back of the bouncing vehicle. The fallen Ork doesn't even have time to stop rolling before it gets run over by another Ork on a warbike; the bike nearly crashes, and one of the bombs sitting in a rack near the back bounces loose and falls to the ground. Eldrad looks at it, nods in satisfaction, and motions for us to leave.

Five of the Mon Keigh years pass. Five blessed, beloved years, in which I do not hear nor see Eldrad a single time. I don't know where he was, or what he does when he's not busy being a dick; probably off seducing Tau or members of whatever other young race has caught his fancy recently. Anyway, those five years pass all too quickly, and then Eldrad comes back, contacts me, and tells me we're going back to Lentak II, just the two of us. This, of course, sets my teeth on edge, because I know he's going to do something unbearably dickish, but I can't exactly refuse the most important Farseer of my Craftworld.
A total dick.

Sure enough, we wind up back in that same mountain pass, watching a column of Imperial Guard troops march past. This time, we're down at roughly the same level as the guardsmen, but since there are only two of us, it's easy for me to project sufficient camouflage. Good thing, because Eldrad sure wasn't helping. I notice that the wreckage from the battle years ago hasn't been completely cleaned; some has been pushed up against the walls of the pass, some hasn't.

I belatedly remember the fallen bomb and start to look for it, but before I can spot it, a Chimera with a commissar riding in its open hatch finds it on its own. The explosion bounces the vehicle into the air, and the unsecured commissar goes flying. Shrapnel flies towards us and I dodge, rolling across the ground to avoid the splintered metal.

When I look up, I see Eldrad, standing with the sunrise behind him, posed like a statue with his head high and his fists on his hips. An instant later, the commissar's hat lands right on his head. And Eldrad, the dick, holds the pose and smirks at me. I almost dropped the illusion and let the mon-keigh kill us both, but then I realized Eldrad would probably have some way of escaping even that.

Never in my nearly twenty thousand years of life have I met a bigger dick than Eldrad Ulthran.

The last time they got into a fight Yarrick was almost killed.

He's a tough fighter, but he's not of Ghazzie's caliber in a straight fight, and never has been. The fact that a human can even bash nobs with regularity is impressive enough.

Back in 4th ed. my friend (IG) and I (orks) often had showdowns between ghazzy and yarrick one on one, just for the goodness of it. Yarrick used to have some rule I believe where he had to go after Ghaz if he was in Yarrick's line of sight, so I obliged him and we would have sweet HQ duels.

In 4th yarrick was nothing to be taken lightly. His -d6 str forcefield thing often meant thta my str 10 pk was only a str 6 or so, no instant death, even if there was a wound, he has some kind of invun save to shake off the hits. He had a master-crafted PK of his own, which was hard for ghaz who only has the 5+ invuln to yarrick's 4+.

Overall, I think Ghaz won more duels than yarrick, but yarrick was never a pushover.

Eldrad made the Orks go to Armegeddon in the first place, if he hadn't Yarrick would just be a normal Commissar probably.
I bet Creed could make an Ork Warrgh show up out of no where as well though.

In game and 1 on 1 in fluff its Gazzies fight every time, however, Yarricks not that stupid, when he fights Ghaz he's backed up by mr. warhound titan, or dr. SW rune priest...

UGH! You Imperials make me laugh. Ghaz and Yarrick HAVE fought a few times. And Ghaz has beaten the piss out of him, both times. He lets him live, because he KNOWS that Yarrick will hunt him down and bring a fight. Orks love nothing more then a good fight. Yarrick makes his men fight hard, which we love. Ghaz is just going to keep beating his ass, until one day he choaks the little man a little to hard and finally kills him.
Its no friggin CONTEST! You guys are trying to compair a HUMAN fighting against a GIANT 14 foot tall, monster. weighing in easily 5 tons, strong enough to hulk smash tanks with ease. IN A FIGHT!??! Lets be reasonable here. Ill admit when my lovely greenies cant take things on head to head. How about you guys show some appreciation to us Orkses?
