Thanks youwashock! I couldn't do an army of them (I believe you need like 60 of those guard as baseline), but those few models are perfectly manageable.

And finished the ogroid, had lots of painting time slots throughout the day.

He's called Azraq and he's fallen out of grace with Tzeentch after being on the losing side of a battle against SCE to secure a Stormvault. That's why his complexion is far from shiny and his horns are bleeding out of the skull, because his glamour is wearing off. To top it all, the eye on his front is just lifeless silver und not the mystic green it once was to show him glimpses of the future. Now he is forced to stalk the Eightpoints and hire himself out as a mercenary to try and gain Tzeentch' favor again.

Thanks youwashock! I was surprised myself, how fast it went after doing his skin, because there's not much else to do after that, if you don't attempt the official paint scheme.

Thanks squall018! Contrast makes some painting definitely faster, but the correcting if you don't stay exactly on target can get tiresome. But with 9 models, it still was pretty fast.

He sure as warp will get his chance for redemption, once I can start a campaign with my group (curse you virus!) and the allmighty eye of Tzeentch will glow again!

Thanks Theo!It was a spur of the moment thing with the Ogroid, saw the primed mini, the pot with the blue-grey contrast and thought... "eh, how bad can it be"

Started work on the other Ogroid and this time didn't shy away and did - for the first time - real layering. Normally I do base, wash and some small highlights and call it a day. This fella got base, wash, reapply base and than another color. Thought about doing some fine highlights in orange, but fear to ruin the skin with it, so orange is reserved for most of his hair and I may give his face some. Not sure about his beard, I think it should have the same color as his top hair.

That did come out pretty nice. On worry about ruining with another layer, man, I feel you, thats like 80% of my models, but I'd say go for it, hypocritcal as it is. Just really thin it down and sop off a lot before you apply, just a nice light glaze of orange. Keep it to narrow areas and have a dry brush ready for cleanup, and hey, if it doesn't work, another layer of red wash or a bit of 2nd color reapplication will hide it well enough. When I can convince myself to try it in similar situations, it usually ends up looking decent.

Thanks monkeytroll! I‘ll leave the scaring as is, may have a second go with aimed wash. And the beard is repainted.

Did another session (kids wanted to listen to Bob the Builder in silence, so I got to paint in silence ) and am really happy and I love, love, love that sculpt. It‘s so beautiful Next up is metallics, loincloth and than cleanup. Gonna go with the Fang for the loincloth and light blue-grey accents.

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors! Had considered it in the planning stage, but quickly went for something more neutral, because I wanted to do the cloth blue or green and thought it wouldn't mesh well with blue hair.

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! It's actually one of the Sector Mechanicus Bases. It lay around painted for about 2 years, I even did the cables back then And I love that you feel that the details on the sword are crisp. I am very happy with it, but would have loved to do some finer edges.

Maharg wrote:The red skin looks great, definitely worth forcing yourself to add the extra highlight, it has added a lot, particularly on the face

Thanks Maharg! Yeah, that ominous extra mile really can help.

And now, the second Ogroid is also finished. And because it seems that I had too much time on my hands this morning, I wrote some fluff for Red. And after that you get some glamour shots of him and of Azarak.

Kamir Mah was an Ogroid full of contradiction. Stories were told about him at campfires at night. About his trusted spear, that could slay gargants, but was rusted and crusted with blood. And about his shield which was in stark contrast to the spear: Gleaming and blinding his foes with the sun’s reflection. The reason, it puzzled no one for long was his reputation as a creature that could set a warband on the right track for Archaon’s recognition. He took only a small fee, but fought like a berzerker. It delighted the warbands - and probably would’ve not, if they knew the reason behind this.
Once upon a time, Kamir Mah was an Ogroid on the fast track. Even as a youth he was one of the deadliest creatures roaming the Eightpoints. Only armed with his spear he slew monsters, chaos worshippers, order soldiers and more without discremination. This brought him to the attention of Khorne who bestowed gifts of strength onto Kamir Mah. But while ascending the corporate skull ladder he realized that he actually had to deal with politics, if he ever was to ascend into demonhood. Bewildered he tried his hand at this new game and actually managed to gain traction. The now fading ritual scars on his body are witness to this. But it soon became clear that butting heads was more of Kamir Mah’s game and one night he found himself ambushed in his sleep by rival Ogroid Armik and his pals - 50 Bloodletters. After a vicious fight only Kamir Mah was left standing. On that day he cast his back on Khorne and went home to the Eightpoints, leaving his spear encrusted in the blood of those he had slain that night, but polishing the shield every night as an reminder of the treacherous act he narrowly survived, reliving it while cleaning the shield.
But he’s a happy Ogroid now. Back to stalking the Eightpoints, fighting for himself and sometimes pushing a warband closer to the gods they’re praying to… knowing what will await them, if they succeed. And while thinking of this, his features against all probability turn into a huge and honest smile.

The duo look great together. I really like that you have gone for two different schemes, and have made each version work. I can get very bored of models that look the same, especially where a (magical) creature is involved. I think AoS is a really good opportunity to do something like this, as there are no blocks of 1000 goblins, and you have done a great job
