Slave on the Slave Snares

Pallet Town

hi there!

i have started playing 40k about a few months ago with a dark eldar army, i liked their backstory and the models were really cool so i bought an army off of ebay, did a bit of paintnig to personalise it, and have been playing it with some success (and more than a smidgen of failure!) for a while now. i'm not very good at the 40k but i am hoping to improve, and my local games shop is holding a tournament in 6 weeks time that i would like to enter... so hopefully i can get better before then!

anyway it is nice to meet all, and i hope to speak to you around.

cheers,

bill

PS: before anyone asks for puddin pops i'm not THAT bill cosby :p

PSS: i have donloaded vassal and would like to play it if anyones interested. thanks!

yeah dark eldar are too cool to die out although i dont think it was a good idea to start with them, they are very difficult to play with, i have won some games but lost a lot more, lol

its cool though because the models are great and the backstory is cool

You started Dark Eldar because you like the models?!
You my friend are in a small minority

They are great fun though, I like them a lot as well

Well, Bill, it currently looks as if Dark Eldar are going to be updated quite soon. I couldn't wait though, so I went ahead with Tau, also because I love how they look. =P

Welcome to Dakka!

How big an army is it? It would be fun to see your army list =>

Currently i have a few raiders, some wyches, some warriors and a couple of ravagers, plus a dracite to lead the army. it is a 1000pts army, not very big but it does the job... sometimes, lol. i quite like tau models too, the tanks are sweet and kroot look mean, but im not a big fan of their backstory :p

Hehe, few are fond of the Tau backstory, I too think it's very... uncomfortable. I'm currently working on some fluff for my army, we'll see what I'll come up with, but right now it's leaning towards outcast Firewarriors whom questioned the authority of the Etherals.

I've never seen a Dark Eldar army on the table, but I can immagine them being somewhat simular to.. Well, some mix between Imperial Guard soldiers' fragility but with the advantage of high balistic skill and mobility. I'm not generally a fan of fragile stuff though, especially not after hearing some guy from BoW having an idea of how to become the master of 40K.. Something about writing a 'letter home' to each soldier you lose on the battlefield.. Fragile armies would require a lot of paper..

I love the Tau on the field though, well-protected Skimmer-tanks and high-range and high-powered weapons + Markerlights + Suits = extremely dynamic, cool pwn'age. *nodnod* And of course their Fast-attack abilities.. As well as their Hammerheads..

My army has yet to arrive from GW but it's going to be at 750pts. =)

I hate chocolate cake.. It tastes godlike, but it's like eating stones, fills your tummy too fast so you can't glutton on it... Nothin' like commiting sins, eh?

OP:

Welcome to Dakka.

1. Read the Dark Eldar tactica that Thor665 wrote. Read it, bookmark it, reference it.

2. Send a PM and make acquaintances with Thor665 and Clthomps - they are Dakka's two resident super Dark Eldar tacticians.

3. Dark Eldar are extremely powerful, even today. In the 2010 tournament season, I've only lost one game with them, and my Dark Eldar have won me my Golden Ticket to the 2012 GW Las Vegas Invitational. There are a couple armies (Mech IG and certain brands of SW) that I heartily respect and/or fear; most other armies are rubbish to be ground into wreckage.

I also write battle reports for major RTTs and GTs that I attend; they tell a complete story of the battle with pictures giving a turn by turn blow of each game, with tactical assessments and stuff. Try these on for reading:

Welcome to Dakka! Besides, most players start armies because they like the modells.

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.
