I really like the additions to the biker boss - his augmetic hand turned out really nicely! The exhaust pipe and lascannon battery on his back look great. I'm eagerly anticipating where the Squig-Kan goes!

so, which legs did you use for this? just the standard warboss ones?

I really like the apehanger look. how did you get the bends in there? I have tried other ways to do apehangers and yours put my pathetic attempts to shame.

Actually, eyes were exactly what I was thinking, at least for a rokkit launcher. Here's the body thus far:

I plan to pull a more squig-like "tail" of sorts out of the back a bit, still need to do a bit more sketching first.

That recessed front panel will soon have a hole punched through it, with a rokkit "eye" mounted in place. The sloped panel will be fitted with a viewing slit for the grot pilot. More to come on this mekgineering monstrosity later!

Now for my labor of love, the Deff Koptas. Well, the Deff Choppas. Nothing said "Ork jetbike" like a lean chopper with jet engines and fins bolted on a bit slapdash. I started a P&M thread on them prior, but figured threadomancy would be a bad idea, so I'm moving their progress here.

They're (just about) done! I say just about, as I'm sure seeing these pics on the forum will find the thirty four remaining flaws to fix. I got a bundle of new biker plastics from Neal, and set about hacking them into suitable "Gork's Angels" for the Waaagh! Lots of cutting, pinning and greenstuffing later, I've finished them. Here they are, in all their bow-legged, flying base-d, and screaming fast goodness!

"Da Fatboy", complete with buzz-saw, and handy goggles to keep 'umie, beakie, and panzee bits out of his eyes. Note I finally decided to jack his headlamp for use on the Biker boss.

The first Deff Choppa, I can't tell you how long I've been looking for the perfect use for that WHFB orc head. I love how it fits on this one.

Low and long, raked out beyond belief. I went with this head for the blatant (and unplanned) similarity to the dual headlight setup.

And finally, the obligatory glory shot:

The body (legs/torso) is the regular Ork Warboss model, the one with the attack squig. I cut his loincloth mudflap out with a dremel, and had to "convince" the legs to fit around the bike. I ended up using his regular head and most of his left arm, in the end.

When I do framework like that I use a paperclip inside the tubing to give it some rigidity. A couple seconds over a candle to soften the plastic and you can then bend the clip underneath into any shape you like. It's not a perfect science and takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it,, you can do just about anything with it.

They all look very good but the third one looks excellent. I'm always keeping my eyes open for good jetbike models - of which there are very few - and I wish I could find a load like your #3 biker. Damn.

I struggled with a body for my Biker Boss. in the end I just used a plastic Nob torso, metal Warboss arms, and hoped for the best. The addition of some shoulderpads and green stuff certainly helped!

'Ere we go, again! I'm going to blow the dust off this thread and get some new photos up. My workload lately has been relentless, but I've still somehow managed to get some hobby time in, so let's get right back to it. Though I never really consider a project "Done" per say, I definitely do hit a "Done-ish" point where I want to stop before I add too much and muck up a project.

The Biker Boss is pretty much done. I added some exhaust tips, studded his cybork knuckle-duster, and finally got the proper headlight on the bike. Really all that remains is modeling some kind of dakkaguns, but I'm debating how to do that in a way that doesn't detract from the chopper lines of the bike.

Also teetering on the precipice of "Done" is the Squig Kan. I've overhauled the teeth in the gob, added a hatch for the grots to use, magnetized the weapon mount (rokkit launcher in place in these shots), and finally added an exhaust system to help solidify a squig-like profile. A few more rivets and it'll be ready for paint.

Working on the Squig Kan and reading mauleed's kan army list got my gears turning on making a heap more kans. Who wouldn't love a wall of trundling orkish machinery barreling forward into the fray? I snagged some old bits and tossed together 'Thumper', a true kan. See if you can guess what represents the dread ccw!

I'm still trying to figure out how best to bulk out the hip joints, right now they still feel a bit naked.

Finally, my perpetual monthly vow, the Lootas. Though I haven't done much with them (I like the models stock, myself, which is really rare) I'm including a group shot just because I managed to survive those mold lines.

Here are the few, the brave, the somewhat simply converted. Still WIP, but progress nonetheless. I'm quite fond of the destroyer boy, kudos to Ein for being the original inspiration for that one.

There you have it! Still slogging away on the army whenever I can find the spare minute. Slow going, but I'm having fun, and isn't that the point? Summer time = paint time, we'll see how that goes soon. C&C welcome and appreciated as always. Finally, for the sake of getting a thumbnail on the front page, the glory shot:

Teek, I love how the Squig Kan is turning out and the collection of Lootas is hot. Maybe it's just the photos, but I'm still feeling like Bike Boss Teek's bike is too short and squatty - not nearly low-slung enough, IMO. I think it looks kind of out of place compared to the sleek lines of the deff choppas. Don't get me wrong - you know I love your conversions - the execution on it is great...it just feels like the proportions are still a little off for my taste.

Time for a quick WIP teaser. I've finally taken knife to plastic in the name of the Deff Dread henceforth affectionately named "Lemmy". A tip of the hat goes to Lemmingspawn for inspiring me with some great concept art and an incredible large scale version.

I've scaled it back down to roughly standard Dread size (height-wise at least, it's a whole heap wider). In keeping with my army's Roadwarrior-esque, GorkaMorka mob turned Waaagh theme, I stripped down a hotwheels toy truck with a slick hotrod roof chop to serve as the backbone of the model.

Very much WIP shots follow. I've got a long grocery list of bits to add, engine, exhaust, hydraulics, cabin plating, big stompy feet, and big killy backhoe buckets, just to name a few. But for now, here's a peek at my progress on "Lemmy" thus far! Enjoy, and as always, c&c is more than welcome!

A bit more progress on Lemmy to share!

I've added hydraulics to 3 of the legs. Haven't done the fourth yet as it will be raised, but I'm not sure how high just yet.

I've slightly raised the cabin position, to give it a more "rearing back to strike" pose.

(Note: "Rearing back to strike" beat out "Pointing and yelling on top of skulls" by the smallest of margins...)

I've also put a bit more work into the Dread CCW for the ole boy. True to Lemmingspawn's concept art, backhoe buckets!

It's been a labor of love. Right now it's fully articulated, and actually operates as a normal backhoe would. It will eventually be mostly fixed as a tabletop model, but I'm very, very tempted to model a larger one in aluminum and motorize it! But I digress...

Behold, articulation!

That's it for now, I'll leave with a parting glory shot for the front page:

Managed to get a heap of detail work done on Lemmy. Added a handful of hydraulics, teef, rivets, and worky bits like a stonkin' huge engine. I'm aiming to combine the flavor of Lemmingspawn's concept art with raw, badass Peterbilt power and my obligatory Hot Rod styling.

I figure it's about 95% done, and pics might help me narrow down the final touches needed. Left on my list:
-Plate up the baby side windows
-add a bit more flash to the rear end, tow hook maybe?
-finish stabilizer feet (how stompy?)
-build under-slung turret for armament options (I've placed a magnet in the chassis behind the front bumper)

I've included a primed shoota boy for scale. As always, C&C welcome!

From the scale shot you can see it's a bit bigger than most dreads and a beast for TLOS, but really I could care less!

Finally, the glory shot:

Thanks for all the feedback and kind words! It's huge to know others out there in the intarwebs dig what you're working on. It definitely pushes me to keep working, which is always a good thing.

Few things, I'm currently painting. Broke out my old grotz (based on the old WHFB night gobbo plastics) and started experimenting with some new washes, some new vallejo and reaper stuff. Iffy, if you're reading this, I'm in love with Payne's Grey thanks a million for the tip. It's been eventful, I should have painted pics soon. I'm also currently sketching up some ideas for cybork nob bikers of doom, and if I can manage to get the particular bits I'm after, it should work out very well. More to come, thanks again guys!

Well, Teek, I gave in. Between your awesome conversions here, Lemmingspawn's, and GrimTeef's, I've started myself an Ork army. Bought two boxes of AoBR and traded away the marines for more Orks, and supplemented it with two new Trukk boxes.

Now, I'm coming back to comb your posts for some inspiration on where to go next with the army (and if you don't mind PMing me with any sample army lists you could recommend, it'd be appreciated!).

Thanks!

First off, welcome DBM and Grey Deff to the fold, seems the wonders of AoBR brought a lot of folk over to the Green side. Where they belong.

Construction on Lemmy continues, I'm finishing up a few turret weapon options before he sees a paint booth. Also began paint on the Deff Choppas, more to come on those soon.

For my September vow I wanted to paint an entire unit. It was an experiment in new methods as I haven't painted a miniature in roughly 7 years, so bear that in mind. I managed to paint up 20 gretchin (WHFB night goblin conversions) to a solid tabletop standard. I used a speed painting method that was the result of tips from both Ifurita and Lemmingspawn. Yes they need a Runtherd, but I have plans for him in the works. They also need another layer of highlights to really be up to standard, but I'd put em on the table as is with no regrets. Here you go!
