I may be a little late, but would your warboss' trike have a handlebar for his power claw side?

I would imagine an ork boss choppn' it off after it got in his way.

There is a word for a wargamer with an empty paint bench.

Dormant thread, arise!

As per my January vow, I've started painting the Deff Choppas. Please keep in mind, what follows are Paint in Progress shots. I've still got a lot of work to do, highlighting the black bits, picking out details, and a mile and a half of weathering. PIP. Enjoy.

Bloo wunz go fasta!

Hawt, brother! Do you use an airbrush to get that nice fade on the blue?

Im 110% sure that its not airbrush, just good fading technique

All and all, brilliant stuff! Ive been waiting to see these bad boys in color and im super happy that you continued the biker theme to the actual scheme aswell - If you really want to rip it, make an orkish "biker gang" out of them by painting the heraldics and name of the gang on the back of each riders coat!

I instantly needed to hear George Thorogoods "bad to the bone" after seeing dem lads in da kolor!

DBM: no airbrush work, just careful brushwork and 8 or 9 different shades of blue.

Krieger: Yep. Lemmingspawn posted the pic and built a counts-as stompa, it inspired me to have a go at the design myself.

!?: thanks!

Innom: Good to see you back on the boards again man, I was hooked on your Lilliputian project. Still hoping you get back to it at some point. I've painted a Deathskull glyph on the back of one of the jackets already, and I'm definitely looking at making "club" jackets for the boys. I'm leaning towards a skull and crossed Pistons, a more gearhead version of the Jolly Roger.

As for the bike boys, I'm still working on a few minor things. Looking again at these photos has helped me spot a few spots that need some touchups. Also, the front canard teef on bike #1, I can't decide whether to paint those the main flame blue, or the high contrast yellow. Thoughts?

My other January vow was to convert two of my old, Gorkamorka-era trukks to better match the (amazing) new kit. To fit with the theme of my army, I decided to go with utility construction trucks for inspiration. WIP shots follow.

The first is becoming a dump truck, as nothing says "open-topped" like a big old dump truck bed. Here I've stripped the old trukk model down to chassis, and begun building off with plasticard. The front lip of the bed is the old trukk's bulkhead plate. I wanted to keep a visual cue, something quickly recognizable from the old plastics.

Still to come: gun turret, wheels and fenders, and the requisite fiddly little details and rivets.

Next up is my wrecker. Or, will eventually be my wrecker. I've mated two trukk beds and elevated them to get the ride height. I've also stripped the front end to make room for a more Peterbilt looking scratchbuild. Here's a very early WIP:

Craptacular mspaint image below shows where I'm going with this one:

I plan to throw on several railings, roll bars, and skid plates to give the lads something to hang on to. More to come as I make progress on these. Plans for next month are to finish these two trukks, base and seal the Deff Choppas, and if I have the time, make a Rat rod with the new trukk kit...

Tossing an update in here to show progress on my (over ambitious) February vow. Work has continued on the "Wrecker" old-school trukk upgrade. Cab details have been added, the boom started, wheels and axles added. She's got a ways to go (roll cage, hand rails, copious detailing, etc.) but it's finally starting to take shape.

Full on shot, she's coming together!

Detail of the Boom controls. Joysticks will get greenstuff knobs soon.

A bit more eye level. Starting to feel the attitude I'm after.

Ramming Speed!

Hopefully my next update will include both trukks done. C&C welcome and appreciated as always!

As always great work you crazy mekaniak!

Question, are you planning on making them ramshackle style orky at all? Or is that in the copious details phase?

Teek, as always, it looks great. But particularly after seeing Dave Taylor's Munitorum truck, this doesn't look especially orky yet - heck, I'd be proud to use that with my IG. What are the plans to orkify it?

Thanks guys!

Fear not, a great deal of Orkification is coming. I've never been big on the "ramshackle" look, but I'm all for brutal, crude but effective additions. Teef, plating, spiky bits (Ben Hur chariot spikes, anyone?) and dakka are coming soon.

Well, March has been busy, but I've managed to get a little hobby time in.

The Wrecker Trukk is now mostly orkified. I still need to do something with the roof of the cab, like floodlights or somesuch. Enjoy!

Wheel guards, exhaust stacks, plated doors.

That's where she stands for now. I'm moving in a week, so hobby time will disappear for the next month or so. In the meantime, I'll continue working on concept art for my monowheel bikers, three battlewagons, more night grots, Wazdakka, a Warphead, another Biker boss, stormboys, and possibly a skullhammer. Basically enough projects to hold me over until Armies on Parade at next years Gamesday!

Those are some fantastic scratch builds. The jetbikes are a fantastic concept, the whole rocket bike idea works really well and is actually very Orcish.

wonderful work.

I love the pipes on the hood and the diamond plate front bumper is perfect! I think the back side panels could use some more rivets. Looks too clean and humie. Spectacular detail, though, on the storage units on the sides!

How did you build the jet engines? I really like that style of Trukk although I brought mine from Ramshackle. The warboss is awesome. What are you using as the main material just plasticard or styrene as well.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Thanks for the comments and compliments!

@goffnob: Just a Trukk for now. In game I run my trukks very lean, basically just one weapon to eat "weapon destroyed" results, and RPJ (Bloo Flame Job?)

@Gundam-Mecha: Thanks, I'm glad you like them!

@DBM: You're definitely right. Looking at the pics now, I agree the back end is still too clean. The storage is a bit 'Umie too, but in paint it will see some bullet holes, as well as freehand graffiti labels like "Dakka" and "Spare Choppas" etc. The back though, I'm trying to figure out. Some rivets, perhaps some spikes like those on the front wheel guards? I just want to avoid slapping some large panels back there. It will look dead orky, but I fear it will unbalance the model as a whole. Thoughts?

@Llamahead: The jet engines from the deff choppas were hacked from old Robogear kits. Styrene is my main material (plastic card is sheet styrene), in various sheet thicknesses and tube/I-beam/channel sizes. For really thin bits like the hinge plates, I use disposable plastic dinner plates, hence the pink color.

@Dobie: Thanks! It's a bit bigger than I had planned, but I'm totally happy with it. Soon I plan to start a Rat Rod with the new trukk kit, so I'll have a solid side by side comparison, hopefully they mesh well.
