I like a few chips in the paint, a couple of bullet holes, and mud all over the tracks of mine.

I go for dirt/mudon the tracks and hull of my marines vehicles. Some battle damage here and there. I don't like the factory fresh look.
My marines were made to fight, so them and their vehicles should look like they've been doing some work and are not just on parade drills.

Orks and goblins don't have many rides without some battle damage, or plain old wear-n-tear... but some of the speed freaks and storm boyz might...

Factory fresh as of now, But I plan to but some snow in my vindicators shield due to it being pushed through junk while moving. But Everything else will look pretty good. I dont even put scorched marks on the barrels of meltas and flamers, because my marines would just go repair that when on the battle barge.

I don't paint, but if I did, it would very much depend on the army. Orks make their stuff out of scrap, so I'd make it look like it. Eldar are shiny and perfect, Tau are pretty close to that (but when it's done well, GOD DAMN does it look good on tau) SM, it depends on the chapter. I wouldn't expect to see it on Salamanders or Iron Hands, but Black Templar, Ultrasmurfs and Blood Angels I wouldn't mind a bit of chips here and there, some dust and rust. CSM to me would be worn down but painted fresh, like lots of rust covered up by new paint. IG, wouldn't even blink if they went into battle with two-foot holes in their tanks, slabs of metal bolted on, and missing limbs. The only other army I'd expect to look pristine (though maybe somewhat scratched up) are the Grey Knights, just because they're too badass for damage (lol.) Necrons should look dusty, but not much else. Maybe a few gashes in the metal, but necrodermis is supposed to be a healing metal, isn't it?

I drybrush pretty much all of my vehicles, so they look a bit dusty, but I don't go for scratched paintwork or bullet holes, so they're closer to Factory fresh than anything else. Yes, even my Orks.

Mine are a little damaged .I do alot of conversions from marine to chaos , so I sort of make it look improvised chaosy type stuff.

WHFB doesn't really have vehicles but I paint mud on the bottom of my Cavalry hoves/paws/feet/etc. I might make a bolt from a toothpick and stick it in a Stonethrower or a ogre/Dragon/Giant.

I like to do it on a case to case, army to army kind of basis. For instance my space marines are quite factory fresh. My necrons are a little bit rusty/oily. My penal legion when I finally get around to it will be very dirty and battle worn. So for me it's in the theme of the army.

I go for the lots of damage and weathering on my Guard because I play a city fight themed army, so lots of battlefield repairs and no time to go back somewhere safe to get it done. My infantry also include lots of walking wounded and dirtied uniforms to reflect this.

I chose 'factory fresh', as an Eldar player. Eldar's style of war, and tactics used make me think Eldar vehicles either manhandle the enemy with a superior army movement or die horrifically.

As an aspiring Orc Warlord, I believe vehicles should look "well loved". Mud on the tires, the occasional mismatched armour plate etc. As for anything more than that, Open topped vehicles tend to go boom alot, so I do have a nice set of scratch built crater templates that tend to come in handy. Even more fun when you hand one to a blown up land raider's owner.

I want to see a Craftworld (not Exodite nor Infe(s/c)ted) Eldar army that looks roughed up. Best I ever saw was a Wraithlord that had battle damage that looked almost like charred bone marrow.
