For my Orks, Snikrot. I was deciding between SM and Orks when I was trying to figure out which 40k army to start (AOBR helped in this regard), but Snikrot's model was what cinched it for me. Awesome model, and an awesome character. He is pretty renown amongst my friends.
However, the Khorne Lord on Juggernaut for Fantasy is mighty awesome looking, and if I ever started WFB, I'd start a Khorne force and base my army entirely around that one model. It's so badass.

The Perry Bretonnian range especially the Halberdiers, Foot Squires and Knight Errants. Arguably some of the best models GW ever made and far more realistic looking than later versions who grew far to large......

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

For me it was not a miniature that did it, it was this BOOK!
I fell in love with originality and energy of the setting, I had never before seen anything like it, and my first models were the 30 marines to a box set, then followed by the original SPACE ORK set ( yup ORKs the metal ones ).

Ah yes, good old Rogue Trader. I remember picking that up when I was about 14. I couldn't make head nor tail of the rules, but I devoured it from cover to cover. I like it when Rogue Trader stuff pops up in today's game like Ymgarl Genestealers etc.
EDIT - Great Avatar btw I love watching that film when the missus is out of the house

My wife actually loves the movie , I once started work on a Kelly's heros based guard army, I finished the 3 leman russes ( Oddball's shermans ) and 1 vanquisher ( the German Tiger I ), when a fellow offered me about 3X the box value of the models...( and I needed the cash ) so I sold them.
But yeah I remember those heady days of Rouge Trader, and the 3 rhinos to a box, and toughness 10 power fields, with land raiders that had 50 wounds , those were grand times.
Wow I feel old now......

I started with Blood Angels because they were in the Second Edition starter and had better models than the Orks.
However the gorkamorka orks and ork fluff stoked my interest, and when these two were released my fate was sealed:
My nurgle chaos stemmed from a conversion idea I had using zombies and plastic chaos marines. Very basic kitbash, but I was proud of it.
My new Crimson Fists stem from the AOBR starter and my love of these guys:
Orcs, Dwarves and Lizardmen it was all the basic troops. Warmachine was the Ironclad, and Hordes the Dire Troll Mauler.

The one that got me into Chaos (my very first army) was Kharn. The mini was cool, and the fact that he would just kill EVERYTHING made me want to play Chaos. Oddly enough though, I never bought him or played a Khorne army

It probably sounds boring, but I just love the Ork Boyz. I came back to tabletop wargaming after a 12-year absence, and I was blown away by how nice the Ork models were.
I'm pretty sure the Warbuggy/Skorcha hasn't changed at all since then! That kit needs revisiting, pronto.

^If that doesn't make you want a Titan Legion and a bunch of IG to swarm around their feet, I dunno what will. And of course you need a full Ork Waaagh! to go with it....
For Fantasy, it was this:

I couldn't stop laughing and had to collect an army.
For Orks:
This big Mamma Jamma is the reason I just started an Eldar army. Painting them...god still deciding a scheme.
For Eldar:

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47 |

For 40k, it was the look of the Crisis Suits. That wonderfully blocky american mecha style. I just wish they were properly scaled to Fire Warriors. After reading the codex, I fell in love with this guy:
For Fantasy, it was these wonderful tree huggers. Eternal Guard are my favorite models from GW.
With Warmachine/Hordes I've managed to go wisy-washy over just about every faction.. but Sorscha, The Beast-09, and Man-O-Wars are what keep me going back to Khador.
And now I'm having the problem with Mantic Games.. everytime they post an update on the Undead line... I spend more money -.-
