You should PM me for details; although I'm pretty sure it's going to be in the triple digits. Spraypaint don't grow on trees you know.

Should have details of my next commission tomorrow!

Alrighty, I just received my new commission - I'm going to be painting up a big Imperial Fists army. Here's the picture of everything just out of the box, along with various copyrighted products that happen to be on my desk:

This commission will entail:
- Magnetized vindicator
- Dreadnought
- 5 Terminators
- 13 scouts
- Terminator chaplain
- Old captain
- Lysander
- 10 tactical Marines
- 5 bikers
- Black Reach captain converted into a librarian
Many of these on Back2Baseix bases!

I'm guessing about 2 months for all this to get done. It's a lot of stuff, and yellow may prove to be difficult, even with the armypainter spray I'm ordering. Keep to this thread for updates!

Awesome cant wait to see your take on yellow, I have some elements in my own army that are yellow so love seeing how other paint theirs. Fists just pretty much rule as an army also so that always helps.

Oh and 10/10 on the last commission they were very nice, painted to a good standard. Respect for dealing with guard aswell, its the two things I can't stand personally, masses of troops and painting skin tones.

So here's the test Marine for the Imperial Fists. My primer came out a little gritty, but it's a little less noticable after some painting. I may or may not strip and start over and hope for the best. He's blu-tac'd onto the base at the moment.

Drilled barrel and eye lens detail:

I noticed a few bits that need some patching up (Shoulder trim mostly) but otherwise this is pretty much how the average Marine will look. Let me know what you think!

Ooh, a bag of space marines! That is a nice yellow you have got there.

So some slight changes in the color scheme - my client wants a darker red so I'll be doing Red Gore, and he wants gold for the eagles.

Next up, I've got a vindicator I'm working on for these boys, all built up:

And look at them options!

Okay, so things have been going really slow on this front lately due to primer issues and real life stuff. I've been using Army Painter Daemonic Yellow, and while the color is decent, the fuzz it leaves behind isn't. The Marines were a bit fuzzy, but almost workable. I tried priming the Vindicator the other day though, and this is what I got:

Right now a whole bunch of Imperial Fists are taking a nice relaxing Simple Green bath, and I've got a can of Krylon yellow spray primer on my desk waiting to be unleashed. Expect some updates once I've got a decent basecoat. Fuzzy models really saps my motivation since nomatter what I do it'll always look fuzzy and gross.

Yellow is hard to paint. Good on you if you manage to pull this off well! (which I'm sure you will!)

That looks recoverable - gently sand it down wet with 1200 grit and you should be able to spray again just to touch it up.

Primer problems put things on hold for a while, but I finally got some work in on the tactical squad:

For this commission he also wanted me to convert a Librarian from the Assault on Black Reach captain. I'm not sure if this is "Librarian enough" but I like the look of him so far:

I say remove the aquilla behind his head and add a psychic hood, it will prob make him a bit mote librarian like.

I like what you did with the sword. And as Rose_Mountainz said, a physic hood would make him look perfect.

That's what I was thinking; I saw somebody put both on and it just looked way too crowded. Thanks for the input!

Why not toy around with the idea of making the Aquila into a form of psychic hood, all you'll need to do is GS some wires into it and voilĂ .

Devlan Mud smells worse than Badab Black, but Ogryn Flesh is definitely the worst smelling of the washes.

I'll see about adding wires to the Aquila - personally I think cutting it off and adding a psychic hood will differentiate the model from the vanilla Black Reach captain more.

So I finished the tactical squad today. My client might want decals on the shoulders, but until then here they are:

They may have a few rough patches or cracks here and there. The Army Painter primer I used messed them up quite a bit, and two baths of Simple Green didn't even get rid of all the paint and grit. Priming over it led to some kind of funky textures.

After talking to my client, he decided he would like a psychic hood. He also wanted to see the sergeant's skin better, since it looks kind of... orange in the photos. Here's a much better picture of the sergeant where the colors aren't lazily color corrected, plus the hood:

And some details of the hood on the back:

i love the yellow.

the libbie looks odd, too much like the captain in a sense. i love the idea of the conversion, maybe do something to the head to make it look more original, or maybe add a banner that looks libbie like? i feel like at the moment it has wonderful little details which show the model as a libbie, but it needs something to really make it seem like a libbie from afar, idon't know if that makes entire sense haha

I really don't know what I could do to make him look like a Librarian from afar. Giving him a banner would put me back at square 1 and he'd look like a captain again. His sword will be painted with a wet blend so it'll look really stand out. Also the shift key is your friend.
