Okay, you guys got me, that's a landspeeder shield. It counts as extra armor, searchlights, smoke launchers, and a Cuisinart.

As for the suggestion of marking off the Terminator sheilds - I'll think about it. I don't want to try freehanding an Imperial Fist erm... fist on it, since I'm kind of lousy at freehanding. I might try halving or quartering on some, or script. Of course if I do any of that it'll be after I finish this vindicator erm... landspeeder.

Hazzard stripes on the shields. as they are not as good seige smiths like the Iron Warriors.

Nah, I do enough caution stripes with my Iron Warriors:

Liking what i have seen so far, the imperial fists are looking nice.

For the terminator shields, halving or quartering would be good, as the termies personal heraldry would be there.
As a veteran, they are the few who are allowed to show this. No need to to paint fists then.

Sorry if this suggestion is a bit late in the day but....

The librarian is nice, I like him, but what about the horned skull which should be on the right shouder pad. If you could add it or sculpt it then maybe use a small piece of gs tp continue the flow of the cloak it might help make him stand out from an AOBR captain. Or possibly file flat the medallion on the libby's chest plate and put a different design on it.

Just an idea.... although your stuff is way cool

That's the worst Landspeeder I've ever seen. And, really? A pintle-mounted storm bolter? Don't you think that's a little overkill? You've totally gone over the top with that.

(Seriously, lovely work. I always enjoy a well-painted yellow army.)

Glad you guys liked the Vindi

Here's the next thing I'm working on, 13 scouts:

I'm using a different painting technique for them, since I think the yellow primer wouldn't work well given how little armor there actually is.

Here's some progress on the scouts. I need to pick up a new brush on Friday to paint their eyes, then I'll be done and take better pictures. Here's the crew:

Looking great! Nice work on the camo pattern (although TBH the bright yellow armour probably renders the capes useless!) Vindicator looks fantastic, very smooth colours.

I did go for a more muted scheme with the scouts, but yellow just doesn't lend itself well to urban camo! It is a duller yellow, but there's only so much I could do while sticking to the scheme.

Brown. A golden brown is what you need. Yes, a faded golden brown. Like Scorched + Iyanden 1:3, but dry brushed over a dark grey or something. Something. Good work on the Camo Cloaks though.

Update!
I recently finished both the scouts and the Dreadnought. I intentionally used a different painting technique for the Scouts, as I wanted them to have a more muted color scheme. Well, as muted as you can get in yellow armor anyway:

And here's the big yellow washing machine:

Great work! The scouts look excellent all together (some of the pics you took are a little hard on the eye due to the people all being at different distances from the camera)

Nice work on the big yellow washing machine!

Been playing with whites/greys and a little yellow myself over the last few months.

Try watering down your wash for larger areas like the dread, or perhaps not go as thick with it.. are you using sepia or devlan? Go 1:1 if you want to use it that thick on the dread. Just gives a lot more shading and a lot less pooling

I've been using Ogryn Flesh, actually - even watering down my wash still got all kinds of pooling that I didn't like. It's not as bad as the pooling would have been if I did the Vindicator the same way though.

Y'know, I'm sorry to say this but the colours actually do look pretty.. 'wet' or 'washy'.. if you know what I mean. Again, might just be the lighting, and I can definitely see some very well painted parts.

Are you just saying on the most recent batch (Lysander, the Chaplain) or altogether? For reference, the Chaplain looks very similar to the scouts, and Lysander has identical armor colors to the Terminators and marines. Bikes are the same deal, except the powerfist sergeant who had a few layers of black that wouldn't come off.

love the scouts, but find the dred's yellow seems too bright to me, could just be the pic since i really like how the yellow looks in the back! haha

The yellow I used on the scouts and the chaplain is darker than the yellow on everything else, since those two are primed in black while everything else is primed in yellow.

I for one love your work. I love the camo on the guards from the first commission and the varying shades of yellow on the marines to reflect their status and battle field role.

I bet you can't wait to put the yellow paints back in the cupboard for a while before moving on to the red for the blood angels.

You're right about that one - It's gonna be nice to pare my yellows down to just being accent colors for my Iron Warriors.

Funny thing is I'm hardly going to paint much red at all on the Blood Angels - it's going to almost all be gold! Considering how much I love painting gold on my Iron Warriors they should end up looking pretty ace!
