CthuluIsSpy... you're just outright wrong. They max out at 10 and cannot take a ghost ark. See attached image if you don't believe me.

Why your going to see lots of warriors, and when you see immortals I imagine your going to see tesla because its worth it to stick a phaeron with 20 warriors but not so much with only 10 immortals. (20*2/3) = 13.33 Hits (warriors), or 6.67 Hits (Immortals), wound MEQ on 4+ or 6.67 wounds (Warriors), 4.44 wounds (immortals).
Granted a squad of warriors is 260 Points to the 170 points of Immortals. It also has twice the number of wounds it can take. On a cause wound per point bases you would spend 38.98 points on warriors, or 38.63 points on immortals per wound caused.
Immortals are hurt being 5-10 instead of 5-20.

How did you come to that conclusions? If the Phaeron allows 10 Gauss Immortals to move and shoot then he is worth it if that's what you need, plain and simple. And as you said, you are comparing two drastically different point units, which invalidates your comparison.
Your 10 Immortals equal 13 Warriors in points, so you are now getting 10-20 S5 shots on the move versus 13-26 S4 shots on the move. I know which I'd take.

Because you're limited to 2 phaerons, the inability to maximize immortals makes warriors the better phaeron unit.
2x immortals with telsa, 2x immortals with gauss and attached veil, then warriors with phaerons.
Best of all worlds.

Its not about the points cost, but more about how you use your phaeron. The warriors dont have the option to move and fire usually but the immortals do,
so you use the phaerons ability on the warriors who need it more. Unit points isnt really relevant in this situation, point for point the immortals would be the better option but they are limited to 10 models, if it was 20 then it would be a different story.
I personally don't know which i prefer, i have not got that far with the new army yet, i do have 20 warriors that i did plan on using with a phaeron, and i am building immortals next. Its a tricky one but i think im going to go with the tesla, i like the idea of relentless with phaeron, but it wont really be helping in rapid fire range. tesla doesnt have to have any upgrades and i think keeping points costs down id going to be important to afford all the new toys.
Edit: typo

I think Veiling Gauss immortals is a bad Idea. You either end up in assault range for your rapidfire, or you veil in, and do nothing for a turn. Seems like a waste to me.

I agree with you in principle, but I have better uses for my Overlord than escorting my warriors around. Hello Catacomb Command Barge!

i dont get why relentless is so important here, its not like people would charge immortals, I2, why risk letting them hit last and kill off your valuable immortals? its not like they were designed to assault.

This thread is 2 years old and was discussed while 5th was still prevalent...back when you couldnt move and shoot a rapid fire weapon past 12" unless you were relentless...

As much as I love Tesla everywhere in my army - I chose to get Gauss here.
STR 5 AP 4 means I can potentially penetrate a light vehicle or two rather than just glance it to death. AP4 has also helped me in a few games against other Xenos and Guardsmen and the like. The biggest reason is because I usually use my Immortals as my advancing force rather than my backline and I want to be able to rely on Gauss to strip that last hull point from something just in case. You know... you just want to reach out and touch somebody... and blow up their vehicle.

I was thinking that Tesla would go best on something with high S because you cause more damage that way. Low S seems best as Gauss because then even weak weapons can destroy powerful vehicles.

I agree. As neat as tesla is with the extra shots on a 6 ive had better results bringing gauss with my immortals. The ap4 has helped me in a few games as well not to mention the rapid fire on overwatch.
