Oh, wow. I have wanted that Ogre for years, but it's never been available at a price I could afford. I can't wait to see him painted up.

Even before COVID-19, I've been trying to cut spending and work on my immense backlog, so this particular challenge is perfectly timed. I'll be working on my Ghosts of Gaia from Bad Squiddo. Here are the first half-dozen, primed and ready for paint:

Now showing skeletons for Mantic's Dungeon Saga!

Painting total as of 12 July 2025: 88 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

A Protoss colony world

I've had this Space Marine Predator sitting on my shelf for a very long time, almost since the beginning of my Warhammer hobby journey. Never got around to painting it because I quickly realized it wasn't very good in games. I think if it's going to sit on my shelf it should at least look good doing it, and since others are digging deep into their piles of shame I figured I'd do the same. Here's my proof pic:

This model might be the one that has been unpainted the longest. I undercoated it with Caliban Green over the original Chaos Black undercoat I did way back when. It'll be fun to work on some armor for a change since I've mostly been painting infantry lately.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 24 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

I've built up a large backlog of Underworlds warbands, pretty much got them all and only one completely finished. Some of them are half done but there are still quite a few eligible for the challenge:

I'm still having to go into work so not as much free time as some, but hopefully I can manage at least one warband

Long time Dakkanaut, buit it's my first time entering this.

So you know that big box of Sisters they released last year that everyone got excited about but very few have seemed to paint? Well, I'm going to tackle mine. I started with this one on April 2, she's primed with Grey Seer Spray:

Since this is going faster than I thought, here's the whole sprue. We'll see how much of this I can knock out!!

So I’m going with some or all of my Ork Kommandos:

These fit into the “pile of shame” for many reasons; firstly Orks were my first (and still beloved) 40k army, but they have been very neglected in recent years due having poor to mediocre codices, the need for sooo many models and the fact that some of the coolest units (such as these guys) just aren’t worth taking

Secondly, they all represent “old” models; there are the “current” GW models, which are old enough that they’re still metal, there’s some original (2nd Ed?) metals that are new to me, gifted by a friend, but from way back in the day. And although the Forgeworld upgrade kit is relatively new, I’ve used them on some Assault on Black Reach boys that date back to when I first started in the hobby, back in 2008.

I hope you’ll forgive the one Nob technically having two colours on already, but I figure tiny spots of base colour on the eyes and mouth hardly counts as “significantly progressed”.

As there's no limit to the number of models this month, I'm going to attempt to clear an entire board game from my Pile Of Shame. The board game in question is the wonderful Stuffed Fables

And, further progress. I really feel like I'm in the zone this weekend!

Looking good!

I managed to get one of my minis finished yesterday, and another half done, so that's a good start.

Fast forward to the end of the month when I submit one and a half finished minis as my entry...

Lots of interesting stuff here. I've managed to clean and prep my two, cut the knife away from one and..... well, nothing else. Still figuring out what minor conversion work is required, whilst there are several layers on many, and finished in one case. This is why I only chose 2.

Some good progress coming in, keep the pics coming. I spent most of today base coating the metals. Some greens to do for the laser rifle packs then I should be ready for a wash. Still doesn't look like much at the minute.

Sorry if I'm not doing this right, I've painted two models from my backlog box. We're allowed to do similar models as one entry, right?

@Jadenim: Love the classic Kommandos. Used to own them .

@feltmonkey: Good luck! Very unique entry.

@Pariah Press: Coming along very nicely - doing him proud.

@Rybrook and @Jamie Shred: Also coming along nicely.

@lifeafter: Usually there is a 5 model limit - but it has been lifted this month. I think so long as you have the proof picture you should be golden - just post a picture of the box contents and you should be able to enter as many as you want / can complete

Meanwhile - my own progress:

Just about to wash the other three's armour...

Good luck everyone!

Here's a better proof pic than the pile of sprue I started with. I got the Zephyrim converted from the army box Seraphim... the two challenges were crafting the pennant and scrounging enough power swords for everyone. I'm waiting to mount heads until they're on their flight bases so I can see where they should be looking. Paint starts tonight!

Looking good.

I've finished miniature number nine for the month and am working on the tenth. The board game has twenty-three miniatures, so I'm more or less on track.

My wife, my six-year-old son, and I have been playing the game itself every evening while we've been on lockdown, and it is lovely. It's a dungeon crawler game, like Gloomhaven or Descent, but aimed at a younger audience, while still having an appeal for grown-ups. It creates an ongoing story of a group of toys who come to life at night to protect their young owner from the minions of the evil ruler of the land of lost toys. Each story has several stages to it, lots of twists and turns and interesting scenarios, with a few boss fights thrown in. My son can understand the rules and contribute to the scenarios (although being six his focus is always on getting more and more loot) and he's even doing quite a bit of the reading, so it has been quite educational as well. I'm so glad I bought it, it has really been a bright spot in this dark period, and been something fun we can do together as a family every evening.

I've just got to try to make sure I get the painting done before we finish the whole game!

Looking more like miniatures now rather than a pile of orange. Think I'm done with the orange, just need to dirty up the metals and finish the faces then onto the bases.
As always feedback is very much welcome and appreciated.
