Nice action pose there. You wouldn't want to mess with him!

Anyway. It's been a while since I last posted anything, but here's the guy who will be winging his way to Knightley in return for his awesome model that was posted a few pages back

Cool looking models gents.

I've sent off my Blood Angel Vanguard Vet to Battle Brother Lucifer and my Plague Angel is finished too. So, if anyone else is interested in setting up a swap then give me a PM and we'll see what we can do.

Cheers Laney

Hi folks,
Over on my blog I'm planning on running a painting competition of some sort. I'll be off dakka for a couple of weeks, so that setting a wee GMS holiday challenge would be in order. I'm not entirely sure what the challenge will be yet: Deathwatch or CowbOrks, I think. There's a lot of interest in doing one-off marines so DW is where I'm leaning. Judges will be myself and leadlegion - good to have a pro's painting eye on board, while I tend to be more about the modelling side.
Oh, and there will of course be prizeS to account for the swappable element of this
Interested?

Question: how long is to long when waiting for a GMS marine to be sent to you? I've run into a small issue where I've sent a GMS swap to someone and have been told on a few occasions "Thanks, I'm base coating your GMS now i'll post pictures up" then nothing from them for months. Even with a few PM's from me to them.

I understand not every one is a fast painter, but I suspect I may not be getting a swap back.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

@ Knightly - I am exceedingly slow, but (to the best of my knowledge) have completed all the swaps I've started. As the GMS grand poobah. We can try to work it out behind closed doors, or go public to assure they do not not-trade with others.

@ Graven - Do it. I dare you.

Believe it or not... I'll be starting Yggs' marine in the next couple of days. Will post pics as I make progress... this will be a toughie.

Don't get me wrong, I believe I am quite patient, and there are only three other swaps I'm awaiting on.

The Dakkites of those other three swaps have been in contact with updates letting me know where they are up to or at least giving me heads up as to what they are at and there might be some delays. Those who are slow painters have made this clear as well in their communications and I accept there will be delays and motivation issues on top of that.

Early march was when I sent the GMS swap over seas and the last PM I got was mid June letting me know the base colors were going on the swap and there should be some pictures the following week, before that it was early April letting me know they should be done that week as well. I waited about two weeks and sent another PM just asking if there was any updates but as of yet have not had any response back, even when the user has posted on the forums after the PM was sent.

I guess my question is this: how long should you wait? 6 months? A year? Should I just be a little bit more patient?

Edit: I'm also not about to post who they are yet as I still believe I will get the swap back and the last thing I want to do is trash someone incorrectly due to being impatient.

Well, knightley, I'll comment as someone who's owed a couple of people marines for over a year and who's been owed a few for just as long.

In general, I try to let people know up front if I think it's going to take me a long time, and they guys I still owe models to are (ironically) some of my closest dakka friends. So they know they could put the thumb on me whenever they want, they've just been kind. That's why I've stopped taking on any more swaps... need to take care of old business first. Doesn't excuse my tardiness, but at least I didn't disappear on anyone.

I don't sweat the stuff that's owed me... if I get it, great! If not, there's nothing I can do about it... and I'm hardly in a position to throw stones. I've enjoyed my end of the project already and gotten lots of positive feedback & praise, so I've already gotten something out of it. One thing you might consider (and I've done this frequently) is make sure that neither of you send the finished marines until both of you are done. That way if one of you can't fulfill the obligation, neither of you are out anything and there's no misunderstanding. You still have the marine that you can either add to your own army or trade with someone else.

Ever the voice of reason Gits, you've given me plenty to think on.

Patience I think will win out the day here.

Sorry Fluffy, missed post. Yes, post a pic, which you have done, and interest. There has been some CSM in the past, not sure what the present field looks like.

My part of the swap is an objective marker and three servo skulls (I've got the skulls - but can't think what the objective could be). Any thoughts Silver? Anyone else got some ideas?

I'm hoping BBL has got my vanguard by now (damn - still need to post pics of his ace Crimson Fist)

Don't know really

I have a Nurgle themed CSM army and a Salamanders descended army which uses the BA codex (for the jump troops) with a yellow and dark grey half and hald scheme if that helps at all

@Silver: A Nurgle themed objective is something I can definitely work with!

@BBL: That's great - I'm glad he made it - I hope to post pics also over the weekend

@Graven: The Deathwatch competition sounds cool - I might be up for that.
