As for the ork being tied up, someone (I believe Dysartes) suggested I should model an ork getting sucked into a shokk attack gun - I'll have this idea join his, I'll see if I get around to doing it . The trophies thing... I don't know, maybe on the warboss . And the "fungus among us" is so gonna get graffiti-ed on a bit of terrain

Now, onto some new models:

I finally finished my 5th burnagrot, giving me a legal, (if somewhat small) unit. We had a bits swap day this Saturday, and I got hold of plenty of burnas (thanks to my friends at the FLGS ), so there's no reason not to build them up to 15 . I figure 10 is more or less the minimum for them to be effective anyway, so I'm halfway to that mark at least

I feel like I've got the proportions rihgt on this one, so he'll serve as the blueprint for the others.

I've also started work on converting another runtherd and 10 grots to join him. I wanted to do a step by step of the coat for Arakasi, but my wife had taken the memory card out of the machine, so the first steps aren't pictured. Still, plent ymore kommissars to come . Here's where he stands now:







What I basically did was cut out a trapezium shape about the height of a grot, make the bottom rounded, then drape it around the model. Then, you make cuts near the arms to make it fit, and remove a small triangle of gs near the shoulders so it fits around and you can fashion it into a coat instead of a cape. Then, it's time to add shape to the coat and let it dry . He's based on an IG commissar for pose, but it'll become clearer one I add his other arm.

And, last but not least: 10 more grots to go with the new kommissar, all converted to some degree to make sure I won't be having identical minis:





The main problem here are the single-piece models: with the others, I could always cheat and add a different head, but on the one-piece models, it's major cutting time! Still I felt the challenge was met appropriately, but I'll let the good dakka folks be the judge of that.

Rose_mountainz: he's one of my favourite as well. I might have to paint the glasses hippy pink . Right now, I have 46 assembled grots and 3.5 runtherds, of which 18 are painted, 17 are WIP and 11 are just plain grey. At least a third of the assembling is done...

Blitza da warboy: Glad you like'em . I wanted to mess around with their weapons a bit to make them more individual, and to a grot, anything is a heavy weapon . As for the big mek's weaponry: he just has a slugga, since he also has a KFF and I don't want a 2W model frying himself...

So, some more progress on the kommissar, and I've also made a start on the warboss, since I felt I needed a troops choice that could actgually go and take objectives

First, the kommissar, who got a second arm and some sleeves:





As you can (hopefully) make out, his pose is based on an IG commissar

Now, onto the piece de résistance: the WIP warboss! He's far from finished, but this should give you guys a good idea opf where I'm going with him. I want him to be wearing mega-armour, so a Tau stealth suit was a logical start. I biggerized the legs, making him a lot taller, adn cut up two suits to give him two big arms. I also added additional joints to his power klaw, to make it look as if he's pointing. Here's the pics, let me know what you think!










He still needs some gap filling and detailing, and a head obviously . the head will be converted to make him look like he has bionics, with a replacement skull so I can count him as Ghazkull if I feel the need. Ghazzy the Grot

Blitza da warboy: Thanks! The scenic bit comes from the IG vehicle accessory sprue, it's a bit of stowage (two backpacks with a lasgun) that I tossed on the base to give him some height.

Arakasi: I spent extra attention on his feet .

Still WIP mind, only the basic shape is there. I still need to add some gubbins and some more worky bits. What's making this PK look different is the fact that two of the 'fingers' have joints. What do youy guys think is odd about it?

Possibly the fact that the hinges are right at the tip?

I Dunno, needs some pistons on the claw, should make it looke better.

Astonishing. I was impressed with the Wartrakk Conversion. Now, 12 pages later, I am awestruck and amazed. The Big Mek is amazing. I can't believe what you can do with Plasticard. AND YOU ACTUALLY PAINT YOUR MODELS! They look AWESOME!

Keep up the good work. It may be time soon for you to put up some full army shots.

The PK looks awesome now when it's done! I were a bit sceptic at first but with the added pistons it looks ace The green stuff coat also came out nice.

Great job all around! The new Kommisar looks ace and the paintjob on the kan looks really good.

The Warboss is nice, I especially like the feet but the shooter could look a bit more impressive imo.

Also, "winged squigs"? Do I see Grot Rebellion Deff Koptas in the near future? ^^

Solorg: Thank you! If you liked the wartrakk conversion, how do you feel about the second wartrakk and my pride and joy, the legged battlewagon (p.8 or so)? If you want an army shot, there's a few on page 9 of the thread; I haven't added all that much since then.

Rose_Mountainz: Thanks! The PK is the first time I added smaller pistons on a model, and it came out quite right; expect to see more pistons in the future . The coat is all about practice really; it's my 4th coat already, so I'm more or less getting the hang of it. I'll be making plenty more coats soon(ish), since I got my goblin general heads from micro-art studios, so I have 5 kommissar heads waiting for a body.

Anung Un Rama: thanks . Glad someone likes the orange at least . I paid extra attention to the warboss' feet, and I guess it payed off. Of course, having dread feet bits lying around help out a lot as well .

You do realize it's a biggerized dread big shoota now, do you? I think it looks a tad small because the warboss is pretty huge; I've taken a few scale pics which will hopefully convince you!

As for the winged squigs: they would become stormboyz if I ever decide to use them, so that's a very far away project. But since they're pretty garbage now, they'll probably rock in the next codex . You can find deffkoptas in the first few pages, but they're just basic deffkoptas with booster seats, basically. I'm working on amore interesting deffkopta right now, I'll put up some pics once it's worth showing.

Boss'eadbreaka: If you look closely at the model, you'll see a small bit of tubing on top of his armour. I'm still collecting all the bits for the bosspole

The new guys look great. The warboss is just the right size to not get jeloius of the bigmek's "ride", while not totally overshadowing the bigmek that made it.
The pose on the new commissar is choice!

One thing, though- the boss' pointin' finger looks a little hyper extended, like the piston would pull it the wrong way.

Is it me, or are you becoming the king of fiddly hydraulic legs? Are they still as prone to cause an embolism?

The Good Green: thanks! I agree about the size bit, they're both 'big' but differrently so: the orgryn's girth is huge, and the warboss.. is just huge, as it should be. I think he's bigger then Thraka . I've also taken up the plan to base a few kommissars on their IG counterparts, so expect one waving a book as well . I agree about the pointing finger, it's been fixed by lowering the piston a bit:

Archibald Jack: glad you like'em . My chances for an embolism are slowly being reduced. I find experience helps a lot here; it's still fiddly, but I'm getting the hang of it. I'm still no more then a gifted amateur though; check out jamsessionein's work for some truly splendid (and humbling) plasticard work.

Commissar Agro: Guess that means you like it?


As promised a few posts higher up, here's a new deffkopta I'm working on. I've decided that buzzsaws are a splendid if somewhat expensive AT option, so it's convertin' time! Still VERY WIP, I've only done basic dremelling work and I've added the chainsaw 'mouth' to the kopta. Now it's gs work and adding small wings to attach rokkits to; a friend of mine kindly donated some rokkit packs, so those will be a good start. I intend to continue the atavistic theme on this one, so I'll try and model it a bit more like a head with teeth. For those wondering: the buzzsaw is basically two killa kan klaws stuck together with some minor cutting and some plastic tubing added. Of course, the rokkits had to be removed first but that's just basic kuttin'.

Now, piccie:

If you want to save more points then skipp the rokkits and just go with the buzzsaw?
