Thanks guys.

Added some sand around the edges of the bulkheads.

A member of my gaming group bought some Mantic terrain and had a loads of leftover parts. He gave them to me to use as some bits for some bridges for Necromunda.

Happy Canada Day.

Cheers,

CB

Thank you youwashock.

Decided not to use the side railings.

Some of the nicest stains around. And dangerous, too, with no railing.

Yes, that does not look up to code, we should get OSHA in there for an inspection ;-)

If the truth were subjective then the majority would always be right.

Great to see the classic Necromunda brought up to date on the previous page. The Mantic bits are looking good, when it was initially out that Mantic terrain was an amazing bang for your buck, not quite so sure with the prices today.

Thanks you two, need to keep with the theme that the Underhive is a dangerous place.

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors, the fellow that gave the parts to me picked them up at Toy traders for about 60% of what they are currently retailing at, as it was a bag of previously owned and opened items. Since there were no instructions of box packaging he just made a ruined factor and handed me the leftovers.

Now I had made one walkway already, and some ladders to get up to different levels in one of the ruined buildings...do not ask me where they got the wood from...

Now I figured I should do another photo of the Hive.
From the more active portion to the ruins beyond in the darkness.

Just playing around on where barricades and barbed wire fit.

Speaking of the barbed wire.

Wow really cool terrain! I think 's the hardest thing for Necromunda or Kill team is getting all the necessary terrain sorted.

That’s a really sweet set up Cap! I like how you’ve set it up as an active hive moving to a wasteland, neat idea. Obviously there needs to be some Scavvies inhabiting the toxic area

That board is just gorgeous and would warrant more than one exalt! Hope you can get a few games in soon... Of course so you can enjoy the terrain, not because I desperately want to see battle shots with this great backdrop

I second this motion! Board looks fantastic, and the spread of the range of discrete structures looks interesting and varied, but works well as a whole (if that is not too incoherent).

Thank you Kroem. Our group has worked out a system where the host sets up a board(s) and the other players do tweaks and everything is agreed upon before sides or scenario are set. Unless it is an Arbiter or custom scenario'

Cheers gobert, I do not have any Scavvies (but one player in our group does). I am continuing to build more complete structures so that soon were could have three games going simultaneously (when COVID restrictions ease) and one of those will be wasteland themed.

Thanks Viterbi, so far with the restrictions we are still doing virtual painting/building nights.

Thanks IGtR=, I understand what you are getting at.

Now starting the third original game tower replacement. Anyone looking for the old carboard pieces I am replacing? They are in pretty good shape for the most part.

Very exciting. That was one of my favorites from the set. Great place to put a HPG or swan-dive off with a Yeld.

Thank you youwashock.

So, one challenge was that I could not add details to the base tower because you have to slide the first floor over it. So a basecoat was applied to the various parts before gluing the platforms to the tower.

Used some scraps from an earlier project to fill in the gaps between the end of the bulkhead and the central tower on the second floor.

Starting to add detail to the tower.

Sweet. Looks great already. Those printed hazard lines are a brilliant move.

Thank you youwashock.

Got some more uploaded photos to post.

Vent at the top of the tower and the cage for the ladder.

More details added.

Pipes, vents, and even some valve controls. You can see where I use sprue frames to strengthen the 0.4 mm polystyrene card used for the floors.

The ladder was a Mantic one (and the only one passed on to me) so a one off...which ironically is mostly covered by the safety cage.

Now I have to weather this structure and do the base.

I love that ladder cover. So industrial, and such an interesting piece, visually.

Fantastic structure CB, I like how you extended the bulkheads for fill the space, cool idea! Those valve controls look like left overs from your HMCS CHILLIWACK model. You’ve done a great job of adding interest to all of the flat surfaces. Looking forward to the weathering next!

Thanks gobert, actually these valve controls were far easier than the one I scratch built for CHILLIWACK, these are snap buttons...just need a little sanding and they are great (and simpler) alternatives.

Viterbi wrote:Looking great Captain, but a ladder with a safety cage... in a hive That must be unheard of

Thanks Viterbi, yes disturbing...I wanted to try out using a cheap hair curler to see how it looked as a safety cage. I also did not want to make staple ladders for both sides like the cardboard tower does.

More pipes and valves.

Filters made of mosquito mesh.

Some parts are so dark, can you even see the riveted plates?

Thank you Skinflint Games,

Weathering.

Added some old wiring, crumpled up imperial posts, and other detritus in the corners...hard to see in the dark recesses.

Many of the rust stains follow the outline of the platform above.

I love that you used a hair curler as a ladder guard! Genius reuse of oddments! The tower really is looking fantastic!

Thank you gentlemen,

So I played around with the three towers and some of the walkways.

So this has convinced me I have to make some longer walkways.

That's a great looking board you have there Captain and it will look even better with this latest masterpiece added. If I remember right, the walkways from the original set could be slotted into the bulkheads which could help spread the buildings a bit (for example the bottom two in your last picture could be connected like that) so maybe some card walkway replicas might be the way to go?

The board and walkways are looking excellent. Amazing how the simple Mantic pieces work really well as Necromunda/hive based walkways...perfect for the aesthetic.

Can the connector pegs you get with the Mantic stuff be used to add a bit more stability/security to the walkways when used in game?
