And I like my Whiskey pure. Or some such.
Anyway, this being my introductory post, let me give you some facts:
- born 1980,
- played star quest (a GW-licensed boardgame by MB, in case you do not know it) during the late 80ies,
- bought the old epic-scale 'Space Marine' game on a trip to London in 1991,
- went right to 40K within a year of that,
- later started Necromunda and WHFB, too, as well as countless RPGs,
- had a little break around 2000-2003,
- mostly a collector since then, because I want to play with painted armies, but never manage to complete one before another catches my fancy. I hope to now have found a solution: the most easy to paint and play army, Space Marines. We'll see how that works out.
- living in Hamburg, Germany
Armies collected in the past:
- Eldar
- Space Wolves (my first 'main army')
- Chaos Marines
- Space Orks
- High Elves
- House Orlock
- House Escher
Armies currently collected:
- Tau (DIY 3rd phase sept, around 600 points painted, 2000 more in various states of assembly)
- Space Marines (DIY chapter - fluff is still in the works)
- Dark Elves (around 1500 points painted)
- Beastmen (only starting out, no unit really complete yet, around 1000 points assembled)
So there. That is my wargaming 'career' in a nutshell. I am hoping to bring my Dark Elves and my Space Marines up to playable points values soonish, but then I need to actually learn how to play, since I only ever played small 500 to 1000 points skirmishes during the last five years. So if anyone from around my place is interested in coaching an old-ish noob, please say hi.

I'm actually painting two marines right now in order to try those two different basing themes on them and put up pictures of that, too.

Right, so here is an overview of my armies - minus the two marines I just finished.
My Druchii, the army with the most painted miniatures in my cabinets:
The - mostly unpainted - Beastmen army:
My Tau:
And finally the marines; those in the front benefit from sharper highlights, which is why they look brighter. At some point I might upgrade the highlights on the other models, but painting more models is better than making older models look better.
@ Scott: true, now that you remind me, I recall seeing the english version in the same shop where I bought 'Space Marine'!
