Hi, I'm warprincenataku, but call me War for short. I recently got back into 40k after about a 15ish yeah hiatus. I used to play heavily somewhere around '95 and fielded the Orks. I have played pretty much every armour mainly because my friends pretty much had every other army covered. I kept up with 40k for a few years, but due to the pressures of high school eventually gave it up.
I just got back into gaming and was going to pick up Orks again, but alas it felt like nothing much had changed. Don't get me wrong, I love the WAAAGH!, but I thought it time for a change. So I'm currently collecting a Tyranid army. My main goal is to built an army up to 1,500 points that I can also work with in 750 point battles. This way I can eventually collect other races.
I consider my gaming skills far, far superior to that of my painting skills. My minatures were always abominations, but I still enjoyed trying. Now I'm a little older, a little more patient and still without skill. Oh well, they don't have to look good to be efficient I suppose.
My fondest memory in playing 40k was playing against one of my friend's... Eldar army I think it was. Back then the shock attack gun had a ton of rules specific to each target, humans, tanks, dreads, etc. I got off a lucky shot on his dread (I'm sure it was Eldar) and rolled a 6 on the table. This meant the dread was taken over perse by the snotlings and it made the model move and fire randomly ultimately leading to the demise of his Warlock and HQ retinue.
Do you guys have any fond memories you'd like to share?

Welcome man. Same here, I started 40k back in 1993 and played my last 40k game in 1995. I started with Orks as well but quickly jumped to Space Wolves.

Welcome to Dakka! Same here used to play genestealers then had a break before coming back and now i play space marines (D.I.Y Chapter). One of my fondest memeries is my space marine captian killing 3 meganobz and a warboss on his own (he so should have died a horrable death lol) & a marine killing Genestealer after Genestealer IN CLOSE COMBAT ha ha!

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.

We got a 3rd ed 2000pt per side game down to 45 minutes with almost no speaking, we just knew what each was doing.
