Hello!

A bit of a pet project here really, but I remember I always wanted a cool set of scanners / radars with as part of my deployment or just something to set a mission around - So I made these relatively simple set of communications arrays.

Not quite as complex or cool as some of the things on this forum, but hey...I like them :p

Let me know what you guys think!!

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Have you tried a central or offset single chaos star which stretches over the entire barricade? You could perhaps do a set with the star stretched over several barricades.

Kind of like these blast shields:

Ooh now there's an idea. As an upgrade option that could work really well. Would work well for the aquila as well. We've got plans for themed sets already but hadn't thought of that

I would love to see what you guys come up with for the extras to the barricades you've already mentioned, I'd just like to put forward a kick-ass landing pad; obviously to match the kick-ass valykrie. Any idea for a finish date on that thing?

Ed's already doodled up a landing pad

It's hard to give an exact time for the Valk as we've got a lot of projects on at the moment, including a big job that's huge for us and generally filling in gaps for the website, but I'm aiming for August.

So we got some barricade tests cut, 2 things became obvious:

the corners do not need to be as small as 11.25 degrees. It all gets really fiddly and loose. 22.5 degrees is small enough! (4 pieces to 90 degrees)
the little connectors don't really add anything the way they are at the moment, so they need altering slightly.

Besides that, they're pretty hot and will be good to go on the website soon. Ed ran off a set of his antenna arrays with added detail and they're looking cool as well, and has been working on a couple of commissions that should look pretty sweet. I'm going to get the bases for the pre heresy conclave going tonight then back on the valkyrie kit as soon as possible!

OOO , yummy lots more stuff, You two guys are crazy creative , in a good way, the new chaos front plates are cool, and the corner sections are much more customisable than i expected . Glad to here your not far from production with WarClick TM ;-) The bunkers and heavy weapon emplacements will be a nice height variation , and Ed's radar array sounds promising . Your bases look good painted too .

lol, ok here goes, pay attention:

1) spray chaos black
2) drybrush boltgun metal
3) paint detail blood red
4) there is no step 4

Alfhedil wrote:Awesome work as always with the barricades. What can we expect to see pricing and packaging wise?

well we're using the GW Aegis defense line as the benchmark, so we're aiming for a price around there. Unfortunately laser cutting is not as productive on an hourly basis as injection moulding so we need to make sure we can make enough of them in one hour to cover costs. One of the reasons I'm buying a laser cutter is to cut production costs as much as possible (when my girlfriend will let me use it for toys ) Packaging will consist of straight sections as one product with a choice of detail plate and a corner pack that has the bits to make one 45degree inner and one outer corner, so 4 corner segments of 22.5degrees. 4 segments make 90degrees. When the design is finalised we'll calculate costs and come up with a proper price.

Loving what I see here!

Have you considered plaster casting as an alternative to lasercutting? You can use the lasercut bits as a set of masters to make molds with. You can then cast using a high strength dental plaster (such as merlins magic, you can get like 50lbs. of the stuff for like 50 USD), which will come out as a hard as a rock, but significantly cheaper than using resin (and as the details are not superfine anyway, you don't need to worry about that).

Wish I had a laser cutter, oh the things I could use it for (actually, I've had some ideas in the past, would love to run it by you some time).

Hey! To late to join the party?!

Some image of the radars without paint - hope to get them sorted by the end of the week.

And also some tron-esque bases for a commission, or even our Techron range, we also thought of the models from the Infinity games system.

We tried a few of the different colours available to us for a bit of variation

The Radar is great guys , lots of detail , for mdf, not really a fan of the new bases though , although i can see that they would suit infinity , its cool that you take commissions too. i like the blue and the transparent but the green looks too much like a circuit board , i realis thats the aim here though ;-)

I like the barricades are you thinking of maiking anything else like buildings or something?

DEAR SHOE,

THAT'S RIGHT YOU ARE A SHOE. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT NOT BEING A SHOE BECAUSE IN MY MIND YOU ARE ONE AND THAT IS MOST UNFORTUNATE.
AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU CONCEPTUALIZED AS A SHOE IN MY IMAGINATION YOU SHALL REMAIN AS SUCH.
THIS MAKES ME WONDER WHETHER ALL PEOPLES AND OBJECTS CAN BE CONCEPTUALIZED AS SHOES AND THUS BECOME SUCH, GRANTING ME ABSOLUTE POWER OVER THEM. DO YOU HAVE A CLEVER ARGUMENT? NO YOU DON'T, YOU"RE A SHOE. SHOES CAN'T HAVE CLEVER ARGUMENTS.

They look a lot more stylised than the first , i think this version does a better job of being uniqly sci fi, with a deffinate move away from the circuit board . They are very tron , the top ones epsecially. Now you just need some light cycles It would be cool to see some infinity minis on those and painted up maybe with some osl.

Ahhh! Too much cool for one thread! Everything makes me want to bounce up and down far to much for my own good.

Those barricades are exactly what I have been looking for for years! Perhaps some bunkers that attatch directly on to the barricades?

Also, now that forgeworld has discontinued its line of trench sections, perhaps it is something that could go on you ever increasing list of projects!

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Warhammer_40,000_Terrain

The idea for these kits was that they could be placed into a large piece of polystrene. Of course FW chared stupid amounts of money and therefore never sold any!

Keep up the great work! I am sure I will be making an order soon, I can't restrain myself

Looking great, ever though of using the (laser cut?) wood to make cheap, but detailed buildings? Like a GW sized building for $10 or $15. Those would sell pretty well I imagine.

Thanks for the comments, I did like the first run of circuit bases, but after running version two I agree with you neil that they work better! Give us some time and we will paint up or infinity models on them!

As for the terrain, GW are getting pretty clever with their own, and they're reasonably priced. Once were happy we will upload to the website (soon!) and we can continue to add more stuff; what we wanted in our games, and what you guys as gamers are asking for.

Hello faithful followers!

Among replying to the multitude of PMs and emails, I got round to completing an idea we had for elevated heavy weapons platforms.

The idea being that it can easily be incorporated into the barricades that Harry has been working on, and either set up stand alone or as a group of three. It also has enough space around the struts to have little army men run around the duck boards to keep coherency and look super cool!

These were worked on this evening so are very much a 'version one' so please don't be shy with your comments and criticisms!!

Thanks for looking.

I like 'em. The one thing I would suggest is to make the viewport narrower. Being a raised position, its going to be a really big/easy target, and the size of the viewport looks like anyone up there will be super-exposed.
