Missed the (original) deadline for just a heartbeat. A sneak peak of my finished entry - close ups came up fine, but wider shots just didn't get enough light -, I'll give a new try tomorrow. Any last minute suggestions? Thanks for stopping by. PS: @Vik, seems you got away with it! Luckily there's an extension for the weekend, I just hope I doesn't rain tomorrow! PS2: @Dr H, thanks, will try to live up to challenge now!

@Camkierhi: I guess I'll have your feedback on it soon enough, so no problema. Thanks for stopping by anyway!
@monkeytroll: Glad you like it, thank you.
@Gitsplitta: Thanks, hope it does!
Course change, old new project on the go:
Last week I dug up a WIP Leman Russ scratch built tank to join the just finished BB for a scale shot.
There were actually two of them, but they were more unfinished than I'd thought. Sidelined time ago, I'd left them a a very basic stage:
So put them back on the workbench, added some bits and pieces, and rivets, of course, and got them up to here:
Far from precision work, and the difference between cardboard and styrene shows clearly, but I'm gambling on paint to get them to a good standard.
C&C are always welcome.
Thanks for reading.

Agreed they look pretty good. All except the tracks. Remember our previous discussion of having extra armour covering track sections? May be viable.

You asked for and about tracks, tracks there are.
Cut that corner, and went along with the microcorrugated carboard, it might not be single made links, but great from the cost-efficiency PoV.
On the background, a second battle canon, main guns are swappable.
Thinking on a paint scheme for these now...
C&C are welcome.
Thanks for stopping by.

Overall, very impressive scratch builds. As mentioned earlier, I like the Quonset hut very much which I will attempt a go at it later on. The Cotrell WD Baneblade for those who are new to 40K, was the first DIY model pre resin and GW plastic model. I also built that a while back and the only thing that I changed in the plans, was that I placed that big bore hull cannon on a round ball, (Marble) so that it would swivel down. I did not like it looking up like depicted in the plans. The Lehman russ is great, I have also done them in styrene and cardstock. One thing about a good paint job, is that it enhances the model greatly and when done in card stock, it changes the look of the medium immensly. Great job on your works and thanks for sharing.

This is one of the sexiest scratchbuild threads I have ever seen! Your execution never ceases to amaze me! Bent plastic (on those baneblade treads) is also close to my heart!

@Gitsplitta: Sounds just about right, those should make up for the lacking details
@ unaa: They are, and they don't (The ridges are only 1mm high and wide, resilient enough for normal handling). Happy you like it, thanks for stopping by.
@Briancj: Excellent ref, thanks. I was thinking about extra gear on the sides of the engine compartment, that, plus markings on either - or both - turret and sideskirts should round them up.
Set up shop outside today, and started spraying some paint on to the Baneblade. Of course, a beast this big can not be painted anything else but green, can it?
Will come back later with something - hopefully - finished (O so).
Cheers.

Thanks Gits. More done on that front: Green &, khaki camo plus weathering headstart. That's as far as I got with the airbrush, it'll be all brush uphill from now onwards. Speaking of which, since I had the airbrush out, I added some dirt and grime to the little tanks too. (The point being having the compressor out, the airbrush is not a big deal in itself). Will work on the markings and added gear for those next. Not too shabby for a holiday; sadly slow time should kick in from tomorrow onwards... Your C&C are welcome, always. Thanks for stopping by.

Indeed, paint is what finally does the trick for a model, that, and the details that give the personal touch and make them unique, IMHO at least.
