I have to say I'm very intrigued by what might come from that inquisition rumor. Fingers crossed it would combine with a plastic Eisenhorn...

Also, a commander book might be a great place to put a plastic Sly Marbo. I feel like a read a while back there were plans to make him into plastic.

Quite likely it's just going to be a small book or something of that nature.

Serious answer: I would rather buy complete games that weren't set up from the get go as a DLC sales model.

A small book like Gang War books? I'd rather that they expand the game that way and keep rules out of box set expansions. Of course it's too bad they don't have a monthly publication that they could print beta rules in until they were play tested and printed in a compendium...

The Sector Imperialis base set might work well with these, now that I've thought about it.

People complained about the Gang War books. They still are. We don't know how the actual Commanders expansion will be done.

Of course it's too bad they don't have a monthly publication that they could print beta rules in until they were play tested and printed in a compendium...

Of course, it's also too bad they didn't do something like give it to two inflexible Kill Teams that are effectively character driven...

Prepare to be disappointed. Back in the day when games were released as Monster Manual, Players, Handbook, DMG, MM2 ... we didn't have a contrite name like DLC to call it. Instead it was an evolving game. The path from Rogue Trader to Second Edition was this DLC (as you kids call it now) method. Confrontation to Necromunda, Necromunda to Outlanders, Outlanders to the big book. All these games start out as one thing and evolve over time. It allows us to digest the base game before new additions, options or complexities appear. One day you mightt say, ""I liked Kill Team before you could play Titans in it."

TL;DR: There is no such thing as a complete game until it's abandoned. Want a complete game, play Shadow War Armageddon.

People complain about the weather too, it's what we do.

I explained in a pre-digital (read: Internet) age how things worked. If KT is successful (by GW terms) it will get a second edition with all the rules compiled like a "real" rulebook and the cycle will continue until the game is left for dead.

Well, one character driven and laden Kill team.

The other looks to be pretty flexible and maybe even useful in the other, larger scale game.

I’m pretty sure the commanders thing will just be a book.

Inquisitor if that is the third expansion, then yeah sure a box again.
But Rogue Traders and Inquisition are factions, so yeah makes sense.
Commanders aren’t a faction, so I’d imagine just a book

Nah. They mention Rogue Traders popping up in licensed games so that's covered.
They mention Wrath & Glory.

How do you do an article on the history of Rogue Traders in 40K and somehow avoid the entire game called "Rogue Trader"?

They didn't want people to look it up and realise 90% of the artwork and fleshing out of Rogue Traders came from another company who pen the setting far better than them.

Same deal with Deathwatch.

Ghaz, can you post a direct link to this? Not that I don't believe you, but I've got friends who don't use Dakka and they want to see the proof of such statements, however I cannot locate this on the 40K Page.

It's already on the Warhammer World website:

https://warhammerworld.games-workshop.com/kill-team/

They're also releasing Gaunt's Ghosts.

Krieg! What a hole...

I would think so, considering some Last Chancers loadout wouldn't be legal under normal KT rules

This is my first time heading to Warhammer World, looks like a fun day.

Anyone have any ideas about how much the Last Chancers and Gaunt's Ghosts will cost?

Also, to take part in the speed painting competition, do you need to bring anything? Or they supply stuff?

Kind of confused about that.

If there are official KT rules for Last Chancers that would be amazing.

I sure hope so. I picked up the Last Chancers when they first came out (around 2001 or so?) Always been my go to for skirmish games since 3rd edition. I'd be stoked to get to use them again.

Bad news in general all gaming might be not for him.

DLC is the direction ALL gaming is going. that and loot boxes.

cant wait for those RESUPPLY CRATES. get 5 models. one of which might be a special weapon or limited edition pose. buy 5 today.

Loot boxes will probably be more of a fad, because places are beginning to clamp down on it as gambling. Which it is.

But base release followed by updates and expansions has been a thing for much longer in Wargames and RPGs than it has for video games.

I assumed the 40K 2nd edition box set I bought was going to be a complete self-contained game, but I've been buying more stuff for it for the last 25 years.

Uh oh. You think anyone has told WoTC that Magic the Gathering is probably not going to be a successful business model?
