The prices of metal has been going up year on year and, whilst we’ve done all we can to absorb the increases (we’ve doubled the contents of the new Wraiths without increasing the price by switching them to Resin Plastic, for instance), we are having to raise a few of our metal prices. If you order them now you'll get them at the old price.
Hero sets will be rising to £17.99, whilst the Krudger’s Gang and AD War Conclave will rise to £19.99 because of the amount of metal.
The change will not go into effect until the 21st June. We’ve been pushing back this rise for a while and we wanted to give you guys as long as possible to get your hands on the sets you want, so act now and beat the price rise!

It's a real shame as mantic have done very well to keep the price down. Luckily mantic are doing there best to convert as many of the metal models to resin plastic, which will reduce them to around the original price. I just hope it happens soon.
OMG! Mantic's at it again! Those money grubbing capitalists! I'm forming a facebook club to boycott them on Flag Day! That's it. I'm totally switching over to a miniatures company like GW that won't just take advantage of me!
Alright, where's the massive outcry for these ridiculous price increases? First Games Workshop, then Mantic, who's next? These greedy b***rds at Mantic just want to make money at any cost, right?
[end sarcasm]
Oh, wait, probably won't hear it because if it's not Games Workshop, it isn't cry-worthy. Remember people, these are businesses that are trying to make money. If their overhead costs go up, the prices of their products go up. Simple economics...

It is only on the metals, which everyone has been struggling with and NOT across the entire range. note that the new plasi resin replacements of metal models have doubled in quantity, rather than increase in cost for the same pennies

In fairness, another reason for the lack of outcry is that this has been known for a week and a half or so (June 1st), and the nature of the post introducing it (at least, the one I saw) here;
ManticBlog wrote:Metal Price Rises Again
As is becoming increasingly aware in the hobby community, the price of the metal that is used to cast our beloved miniatures is going up. Some decided to switch to a cheaper material and raise their prices, whilst others try to absorb it. We’ve been doing the latter and, whilst we have switched some metal over to Plastic Resin such as the new Wraiths, this simply is not possible with all the metals we have. Because of this, whilst we’ve been absorbing the increasing prices to the best of our ability, it is with regret that we have to raise the prices of our metal sets.
The good news is that this price increase is not happening until the 21st June, so there is still time to get the sets you want and, of course, the price of our plastics remains the same (affordable), the price of our rulebook remains the same (it’s free!) and the price of our army lists also remain the same (they’re free too!) – this really is only because we have too!
Metal prices increased, they passed the price rise onto the consumer... and apologized for doing it. If you're wondering why people complain about GW, compare and contrast with what happened when Mantic switched to a cheaper material (their plastic resin);

New Wraiths Preview!
As we announced in the last couple of weeks, we’ve converted the Undead Wraiths to Resin Plastic – Ronnie wanted to talk about them, Dwarf King’s Hold: Green Menace and Warpath, so we broke our trusty behind-the-scenes flip cam out, and here’s what he had to say!

Buzz and Chibi beat me to it. It's been announced for a week and a half and is only on metals and out of necessity. Hell, if GW only increased prices on their metals and not everything in sight, then i'm sure the rage would be far less substantial than it is.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Why I don't get mad at Mantic raising prices: they are a small, young model company who are building their brand. They have made quality figures and some dogs, but are on the right track. They give me what I want: awesome toy soldiers that deliver consistent value.
If they keep that up, I won't get mad at them. If they raise prices a lot, I may buy less, or go with a competitor. Their price changes do not make me mad, as I respect the company, its product and its integrity. I cannot say the same for some other manufacturers.
Maybe people also aren't as mad because for instance: the Kludgers gang is going up to 20 pounds (for 3 metal minis, including a large orc riding a boar) while GWs Gorbad Ironclaw (a large orc riding a boar) is 30 pounds all by his lonesome?

Ya I'm a sheeppeolpe I will follow your lead GRRRRR Nerd Rage. Thank god That GW or PP or like an other company in the world would never do this.

Non-argument is a non-argument. GW switched to a cheaper material to avoid the rising costs of tin and still put the prices up (unlike Mantic who kept the prices the same... and doubled the amount of stuff you get). There's companies trying to make money, and then there's companies trying to squeeze their followers out of as much money as they can. Additionally, price rises are often not 'cry worthy' in and of themselves, but more because of the reasons behind them and the methods in which they are presented.
So let's take a look at the way three companies recently did price increases:
Mantic - Apologised for the price increase. Explained what would go up and by how much. Encouraged everyone to buy stuff before the price increase kicked in. And, most importantly, they explained why there was going to be a price increase.
Privateer Press - Apologised for the price increase. Explained what would go up and by how much. Decided to have a sale. And, most importantly, they explained why there was going to be a price increase.
Games Workshop - Buried the information about the price increase deep within their website. Switched to a much cheaper material, hyped it as the second coming of Christ, and put the prices up on those (and books and plastics - there's so much tin in books and plastics!!!). Released a long list of everything that was going up (which is the one good pont). And, most importantly, did nothing to explain why the price increase was taking place.
Two of these companies have been breeding good will over the past two months. One of these companies has been demanding we open our mouths as wide as we can so that all the piss goes in. Guess which one is which!!!

How about not switch to Mantic from GW... just because we all leave GW, doesnt mean you need to run to the next dealer down the next alleyway.

I.... didn't realize that we -all- left GW. I just finished Daemons and I'm about to start Necrons (I'm a glutton for punishment)... strange....
So maybe Mantic and PP handled it better... but.. hay... it's the same thing.

Mantic actually reduced the price on some of their range when they changed to a cheaper material... (as the example given with the wraiths, twice the models for the same price).
Contrast with the core plastics of the likes of IG, Nids and Orcs where prices stay the same (or go up) and the number of models in each kit is reduced.
Of course, it helps that Mantic and Privateer don't raise their prices nearly as often (well, still to be seen for Mantic, but still...). Privateer's raised their prices twice in its history (2006 and 2008), three times if you count a slight increase on paints in 2010. GW, on the other hand, seems to raise their prices about twice a year.

I always find it interesting when people say "GW didn´t increase the prices because of Finecast, but it just happened to be released during the time of the June increase" and use that to JUSTIFIY the Finecast prices
That shows how used people are to GWs regular price increases. And THAT shows just how regulary and often GW increases their prices.
I don't think anyone would complain if GW did what Mantic did -- i.e. raised a small number of prices, out of necessity, and kept us informed as to why -- rather than the regular, year-on-year, across the board, ridiculous price increases GW so love.
I don't understand how people view this in the manner of "a rose is a rose is a rose," when it's a small selection being targeted. Granted the price rise is a pretty steep percentage (~33%), it is still less than many of the recent price hikes from GW. However, it's explained and not dealt with in a "nothing's happening," manner.

Do they? As I recall, last major price increase was 2009. Of course, price of some individual items have increased with repackages etc.
