Hello, I am new to these forums, but so far i have loved them . Does anyone have advice on what to add to a dark eldar army to defeat a swarm army effectively. i am currently sitting at;
1 Archon
1 Kalabite squad, Dark lance, Blaster. Sybarite w/ Blast pistol and agoniser, (For Bigger creatures)
1 raider w/ Dark lance FF, NS, Chain-snares.
3 reavers, 2 Splinter rifles and heat lance/blaster ( Interchangeable )

And 2 boxes of unmade kalabite and a box of unmade hellions.

This is a pretty small force compared to my 3500P IG, And its a huge change in play style from IG to DE, So any tips would be really helpful

There's really nothing to beating Nids as Dark Eldar. Literally, as long as you have lances and a decent amount of shooting.

welcome to dakka, and I would say plenty of kabalites in raiders with slinter racks, took out a 20 ork boy unit in a turn with this set up, including a splinter cannon and sybarite with blast pistol (splinter cannon and blast pistol dont benefit from racks), splinter weapons give you plenty of shots for the hordes but also poisoned weapons for taking out the monsters, nice and easy!

kabalite warriors with splinter cannons prove fatal against most tyranid units (including carnifexes) with 4+ poisoned splinter rifles and a ravager or two if you have the points, and finally urien rakarth or a haemonculus with a squad of wracks or if available grotesques.

Ah thanks for all the welcomes loving it so far, and thanks for all the hints, so far its working out really well, Tabled nids in 3 turns with 3 kabalite squads in raiders with Splinter rifles, Splinter cannon and blast pistols along with RJB's And a ravenger, those were the main units doing the damage and the archon, ( Personally hate archons at the start with only 3 str >.< )

Ahaha carson i got a razor wing that is built to rip the hell out of your gaunts, genestealers, and termegaunts 2up to wound no armour save large blast xD with nerotoxin missiles got 4 of those bad boys, Plus splinter cannon and 2 disintegrator cannons ( str 5 Ap 2, heavy 3) but can still shoot the heavy weapons while moving xD arial assault.

What are some other units i can get to help murder the Tyranid infestation? i have a pretty good selection atm, but nothing to good, Still need incubi, a ravanger and some raiders for my guys

Small Trueborn squads, with as many splinter cannons as you can take in each squad, mounted in venoms that have been upgraded to splinter cannons!

It's all about the poisoned weapons and weight of firepower baby...

Some reavers or hellions make good assault troops with enough attacks and combat ability to take out at least 20 gaunts if they get the charge, and certain upgrades give you 2d6 strength 6 hits on any units you pass over in movement, so yeah a good choice if you ask me

i play both tyranid (swarm army) and blood angel space marine( tactics army similar to eldar ) and the known rule is when play a swarm army with a tactics army you first need to size up the largest monster in the swarm army for tyranids maybe a few carnifex's for example from that you need large hitting weaponry such as a land raider or for you i would recommend a falcon wraith lord or war walker but that is how to deal with the monstrous creatures in an army the key to beating them is destroy the massive amounts of troops for this the best and fastest/easiest way to do so is with assault 3+ weapons and blast template weapons.

The DE have a bit of an easier and cheaper time of it pal, poisoned weapons wounding on a 4+ irrespective of T value. Hive Tyrants and Carnifex's brought down by little pointy eared men? Haha! Pwned!

Back to the OP, check out bitz sites, I use Let The Dice Decide, though they're a UK company. Doing so will save you having to buy entire boxes of Warriors / Scourges if all you want is SC's etc. Just remember you already have, potentially a minimum of, 4 squads of TB, all you then need is the extra weaponry and Venoms - little less of a ccash outlay for you too...

@kitch102, ya i may possibly turn those 2 boxes of warriors to TB, Just need to get few more splinter cannon spare parts for that, Right now i have a temp warrior squad with Baster, Shybarite (cant spell exactly atm) with Agon, Blast pistol, and a dark lance, that squad is going to be ditched once i get the TB into play

This^ Dark eldar (and grey knights) are the bane of tyranid existence. Dark lances just murder MCs. its rediculous how many you can fit in a list.

You won't be able to ditch them as they're troops choices - you have to take at least 2. My only thoughts would be:

- Having 20 Trueborn (if you use both boxes) is going to be expensive (240 points BEFORE any upgrade weapons), especially as you'll want transport for them too
- As other lovely dakkaites have pointed out to me, giving an upgrade character in a shooty squad ccw's and short range weaponry is pretty pointless. Some would say the Sybarite is a waste of points, as the benefits they bestow are most useful in close combat which is exactly where you don't want your Warriors to be.
- If you do want to put a Sybarite in there though, my suggestion would be to give him a phantasm grenade launcher to protect your squad should they get assaulted

You should scoure the net to find a bits company too, I found Let The Dice Decide for me - that means I can buy as many individual components as I need without having to buy a full squad when I just want 1 gun or something similar!

Ideally Duke Sliscus + 20 man kabalite warrior squad w/ 2 Splinter Cannon as the core, 2-4 10 man kabalite squads w/ splinter cannons (possibly in raiders, though not such a fuss here) and maybe 2 squads of 3 Trueborn w/ 2 splinter cannons in venoms with 2 splinter cannons. maybe a ravager or two for some shiny lance action but vs nids frankly the poison shots are better imo.

That's all of 30 3+ poison shots and 72-102 4+ poison shots being thrown at those lil nids per turn, monstrous creatues wont stand a chance and the mostly little ones don't get a save against them.

Course with what you currently have - Duke Sliscus, 2x 10 Kabalite warrior w/ Splinter Cannons, 2-3 squads of 3 trueborn w/ 2 splinter cannon, maybe 2 squads of 3 trueborn with a squad of 4 on a raider w/ sliscus, the bikes with caltrops (also when taking a special weapon I'd always take the blaster over the heatlance.)

For pretty much all your kabalite squads there's little point in giving them a sybarite, regular or trueborn as they shouldnt really be entering combat (specially against nids) against anything overly big that'd need an agoniser and that's points that could go elsewhere.

Either way - sheer volume of poison shots DE can put downrange drop most nid forces with relative ease.
