Whilst the topic being discussed is, clearly, of the utmost importance and seriousness, could we all watch our language and tone please, and perhaps give some though as to the appropriateness of some of the more colourful metaphors we bandy about please. Ta.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

now my local GW is nice enough they try and sell stuff I do not need but I not to worried.

The thing is that I went in to the store just after the nids came out was going to get back in to the game as my wife liked the models I have painted wanted me to get back into the game.

So I hunt around grab a few bits and start heading for the counter when my wife say "how much is that going to cost you?" so I told her and knowing the answer before opening my mouth get a "you’re not spending that much!!!"

Being in one of my coffee induced silly moods I acted like a big kid and was all “please please please, aahhh come on it’s not that much let me buy it”

Where apon the manager walked up to me and said that I was banned from the store for a month???????

WTF..... Well after speaking to my wife yes I was acting badly but to ban me I was not happy about that. Still has given me time to decide what army to build

Right, first off, yes you were acting pretty pathetically... but don't you have your own money? Other people shouldn't tell you what to buy, only advise you on the subject.

But being banned for that was just stupid. If anything you were only helping Games Workshop's plans at economical domination. Damn them and their pocket-money thieving ways..

I don't have a GW store nearby (closest is about 5 hrs away I think) but when I was about 17 I was walking into my FLGS (where I now work 7 years later) for my first warhammer tournament. I'd only previously played against high elves, dark elves and dwarves, so I was excited to see the other armies. I had also only been playing for a year or so. I asked some of the guys what armies they were playing and many were friendly and showed me. However, one guy who was playing ogres at the time blew up at me and screamed that it was "none of my F*&^ing business what he was playing." This guy is thankfully no longer playing warhammer with us. He used to bounce back and forth between warhammer and magic and when he played magic he would rip up all of his cards (and the stores) cards when he lost and he constantly swears at the manager's/owner's son. This guy is also a father in his 30s. Now he just plays pokemon cards with little kids

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yes. Some couples have separate accounts. it's still ALWAYS a good idea to run large purchases by your spouse/signifigant other (i.e. She Who Must be Obeyed) to make sure there are no pressing necessities elsewhere.

Agreed. Absolutely stupid.
I'd have asked if he was serious. When he confirmed that he was, I'd have dropped the $x in product on the closest table and told him I'd do him one better. I'd ban myself (and my wallet) from his store permanently. With better deals available online, there's NO reason to put up with crappy customer service.

Yeah my last large purchase got me in so much trouble I was sleeping on the sofa lol. being married can sometimes be a drag but I would not trade it for a GW army.

As for the ban well yes there loss I will purchased most of the kit I want online as I have found some good pricing there.

My GF was asked by the local game bunker/store to build and paint up a big terrain board (for free) for a showcase deal (helping the store earn money at a convention that is).
After she did the job they all laughed at her and made jokes (not fun and not in a fun way) because she used some purple colours (they were ok with it in the beginning) and it was apparently soooo damn girly.

She got upset like hell and left and didnt come back and I left too, our both wallets left simultaneously.
Talk about fking ungrateful retards but hey, another gaming store gets all our money now and we buy tons of fun gaming and reading things. That it is further away is of no importance, it just feels good not spending money there any more.

On second thought I am seriously thinking about sculpting objective markers or a "bad guy" special character that looks like the store owner but ridiculed like hell and keep having 40k games in there with the "bad guy" being a really embarrassing objective or that enemy general that always dies from a stray grot pistol shot.

When I first started trying to find a flgs I looked to the GW website and used their store finder. The closest store(s) I could find was just over an hour away, fair enough I suppose.

Except that the directions from the GW website were dead wrong, one of the stores had closed a year earlier and the other had a completely diffrent address from the one listed on the website.

Not exactily a horror story but it was annoying.

Hmm... worst experience... there hasnt be too many that is SO bad that happened to me personally.

Have walked into a saturday battle bunker day though where the manager was screaming at a customer.
Initially i thought maybe he caught a thief so screaming is good. But it turns out they are just disagreeing on some rules.

Ppl were telling him to calm down and he said "well w/e im going to my lunch break" Then a red shirt told him to wash his hand ,
then the manager replied he is not going to wash his hands after using washroom ( no idea what that means , some sort of hidden meaning? )

So that was that.

My wife and her entire purple Trollblood army would agree. People laugh when they hear about it, but tend to stop when she gets it out. I don't inform them beforehand she's has her B.S. degree in art therapy and sculpture and is working on her masters for the same. She spends as much time on each figure as she does for her final projects.

Unless you placed them in each table corner and then scattered out and rolled a bad mishap I would say it is impossible.
