Ok it's apparently campaign week this week, is it still going ahead? I've not really heard anything since last time and to be perfectly honest with you all I still feel that using my Thousand Sons will be a waste of time and I don't particularly want to use either my Black Templars or White Minotaurs in this campaign (simply because both are unfinished, if I can finish either by next month I'll happily use them) so I don't know what I'll do if it does go ahead this week.

I think it should, if not it's in danger of being cancelled.
We still have the stuff from the last one, so we have the stuff ready.
@Nick, remember you don't have to take part this time.

righto, as we all know, we had a mass walk out of GW last week (not all of us, but a majority) and went over the St stephens club, at first we got a bit of a cold shoulder there, but they warmed up to us pretty fast, the manager even offered to put more tables in to accommodate us. Now my question is, is this a permanent thing, or is everyone going to mindlessly go back to GW, despite the bad treatment (except nicky), or, are we going to go to the St stephens club? this needs serious discussion (sorry lorna) as it could split this excellent gaming group we have, down the middle.

The clubs called last stand. First of all, Mike (The manager) Is pretty strapped for cash, and it will be hard getting more tables. Especially since they will need to rent more rooms. This will push up the cost of playing there. There is alot of people going already, and the crowd you saw last week was a lot smaller due to the RNS. They are not accepting any new members at the mo, But if you want to play I suggest getting down at 4 o'clock since you will get at least 1 game in.

No worries mate, this all got sorted out last week (or i got the impression it did) money for mike will not be an issue, you should see the amount we spend at mcdiddies and tesco, id happily pay a little extra to be able to sit down eat and game. But this is a moot point, we all need to decide as a group what to do, the Badab war thing is coming this week... Jason needs to learn that its us the CUSTOMERS that should decide what we want to A: Buy B: Play If we want to stay as a group, we all need to make a coherent and unified appeal to Jason. Its no good one or two of us just going up to him, it has to be all or no one. So lets get the discussion going

I'm not saying dont go to GW, im saying we need to decide if jasons management off us and fellow vets is acceptable, i also understand that some of you would prefur to quietly complain amongst yourselves, or remain silent in case you get "banned" or something, and there several people who read this thread but do not post on it, all of you come see me on thursday, and tell me your specific problem or issue at GW norwich (or PM me) and i will talk to jason and attempt to get a compromise, as the way things are now, were all gonna end up leaving (with exceptions evidently)

I take it that Jason's rather heavy approach finally cuased you lot to snap then. I don't mind his ideas about say having one night a month devoted to a campaign or things like that, infact I quite like know what type of game I can expect on any given week be it 40k, fantasy or LOTR.
But trying to encourage people to buy new stuff for said campaigns etc is a bit much (unless it's a well run Tale of 4 Gamers type of thing, so that's more like the first one and not the other two). I also there should be some more leeway in what games are played, last week was a good example of that, there was only one person there with a fleet and several people with armies for other systems who want a game. In my opinion filling tables should take precedence over the theme of the evening.
As for limiting the specialist games night to only one system I think that was absolutely moronic, if instead it was getting to play any of those games that would work a lot better since we'd be able to discuss amongst ourselves which games we'd want to play and book tables accordingly. I think this should really be suggested to Jason fairly quickly.
Personally If I were in charge I'd keep the format of different stuff every week but change hobby night into a hobby and specialist games night, with say half the tables dedicated to painting/building/whatever and the other half available for people to play the likes of Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Epic etc.
BTW I'm perfectly happy to play elsewhere but I do like playing at GW the atmosphere is generally pretty good and I like to think that I get on well with most of the regulars.

I think i'd lose the hobby night, I can hobby by myself I can't play a game against my own army, although it might improve my win rate. I'd like to be able to still game a GW it saddens me that this much politics have got involved in what should be a relatively simple matter. I don't mind confronting Jason but to be honest I don't think it would do any good. I know when Zack raised the point about special games night being to specialised Jason bascially told him to f off and that he was banned from special games night. problem is i think jason is quite happy to run that store into the ground, he has said before it is not a hobby club (kind of think he missed the point there) and don't think he really wants to run it as such. I know this might seem some what under handed and a little bureaucratic but how do you guys feel about a petition and strongly worded letter to Jason's higher ups. I mean I can put up with all the crap GW as a corp does as long as the local store still has a good attitude. I don't mind going somewhere else though as long as I can get there reasonably easily. Then again i'll be moving at some point in the near future so may not be able to continue anyway.

Love the serious discussion jibe there Formstar.
And I realise why you did it, but I will probably keep going to GW, but only becasue I prefer fantasy and whilst they are starting off at the Last Stand, i also know I am not that much of a good player, but i can play well and i'm not uber competitive as pretty much everyone knows already.
And i am one of the people who thinks that Jason's management of the sotre is bulls***, I think we need to tell him what is gonna happen if he keeps going. If we tell him what is happening within the store amoung the vets, then he might realise this fact.
Also, we probably should have complained to the higher ups when he started this behaviour, becasue we have kind of allowed him to walk all over us. I say, this thursday we tell him exactly what we think, clearly and consicely.

I don't think there is a time limitation on taking it to higher ups, yeah we allowed him to ride rough shod but to be honest originally I thought it was because he was new (wanting to make his mark) and under pressure (trying to get possitive notice from his superiors). However it starting to become clear that he is just a bit toolish.
Hell I don't mind booking, I don't even mind a rota of game types, but when you book and find you haven't got a table because some wiped the board, didn't wipe the board or Jason decided to throw and ad hoc money making scheme together it defeats the point of booking. Like Nick said the rota is not terrible, apart from the idea of limiting it to one specialised game (that is a tool move) and personally I think hobby night is a bit of a waste.
All I want to be able to do is play with my toy soldiers with some friends while making boom noises, it shouldn't be this ing political or difficult

Yeah, i'd rather play 40k every week. Well at least till I get my Beastmen sorted.
I agree with formosa about doing it as a group though because if one or two of us do it he'll just tell us the f off. You can't say he won't because i've seen him do it.
However our group is not the most organised bunch in the world, hence why I suggested the petition.

Yeah, to be honest if 5 or more people do it, with proof that more people support what we are saying, then he'll find it harder.
And if he does tell us to f off, then it's complaint time.

exactly lorna, we all know he reads this thread, so with a bit of luck he will start to get the idea. However our biggest issue will not be jason, it will be a lack of "balls" or apathy, if he says "put your money where your mouth is" then grumbling and going on with thing will not work, as lorna/spanky said, a talk to the higher ups. Jason wants to go to Japan/Germany, he needs a good record, a large complaint could affect that.

Oh well, seriously that rescent period where I was getting disenfranchised with the hobby was a lot to do with the current state of our local GW. Yeah there was other factors like the price hike and fact I hadn't done any hobby at home because I was moving but it was compunded by the lack of a consitentancy at our gaming venue.
