The second type provides a little cover, and I think makes it look a little more solid as well.

The tower is looking great. I think some sort of railing would be nice, but it would make the model placement a bit difficult, hmmm.. at least the top floor?

The metal venting thing looks cool, adds nice amount of detail and provides cover for models a bit.

i totally want to see the middlesection seen done in shells...over and over agin!! this would be truly epic man... and then all those fancy authors of them dictionaries have a new job to get rid of me mug in the books and put your face in there...!!!!

but if you don´t have the amount of this ...smallish calculation you`d need at least about 120 shells...quite a big amount...

if this fails i would stick to the PVC pipe and add lots of rivets... also i like the idea of hanging cables from the individual ceilings....would like the carbonation chamber in empire strikes back...bespin cloud station...!!!

Dstein, every time I come back to this thread youve filled out at least two pages more awesomeness. I absolutely love the new buildings, and your varying walkway designs - you've completely kept the spirit of the originals but made them your own. Ive got a bunch of the original cardboard necro terrain myself - always thought the main problems with it were it's flimsiness and the fact that theres not enough of it. You're fixing both problems!
You've also inspired me to use some of the plasticard Ive got to make my own templates, so thank you

The shell casings look great, very industrial pipe work. Have you considered extending them up from the top of the building and having them seperate out and head in different directions? A little ambitious perhaps, but would be amazing to have a couple of smaller sattelite buildings connected by a labyrinth of exploitable pipework? The small island buildings would need great cover and vantage points to make running on the exposed pipes worth the risk though

Thanks Scarper, ver much appreciated. Unfortunately I only have six of the shell casing things, so I won't be able to go too crazy, but it is a good idea. I have been thinking about pipework walkways, but Armorcast already makes such great ones, it may be cheaper to buy theirs. I don't know.

Wow, legos are as crazy as ever! That's pretty neat. I like how the grey pipe looks in there (cause it is already covered with detail ) but it needs more pipes. I think the second pipe affords more creative and playable opportunities. Those nail gun cartridges look great on top. Wow, what a cool bitz box you must have!

As for the white pipe and doors. That would solve getting onto the tower, but think about just adding maintenance hatches and engineer panels... as well as some vents. The tower could be an air filtration system.

@Vik LOL you're a looney! That is a classic car! Who wouldn't want it in Lego? We have a 1986 Jeep CJ-7 with a Chevy Big-Block V-8 as a second car and toy! Blubblubblubblub
@Green That bitz box is full of crap since I first started building terrain, those nail gun cartridges are probably 10 years old. hmmm...hatches and vents and rivets......hmmm.

I have some CPU fans around here somewhere, but I can't find which bitz box I stuffed them into. grrr

i recently got rid of a lot of packaging stuff i collected over the last two years... it was big enough to fill a whole garbage can^^ i figured since i mostly work now with cardboard it was not needed anymore...

The secret to my hatches are these little plasticard blanks that come in the SIM card slot of new Lenovo Laptops. I get them free and they are all perfectly identical.

each hatch is just one pice of card from that SIM stuff and then two small pieces of tubing.... a very effective and simple looking version....i have to switch on my next tank to that hatch version...and because it as to be uttered....rivets

Rivets will come Vik, I promise.

Take a little steel floral wire, end it around the pliers, drill some holes and glue them on.

The Beebop Drums Tower looks a lot better than I expected it would. I wasn't sold on the idea at all. I believe it is going to be a major piece in your set once it is finished.

hmm now that i see them together im liking the building as is, although the left building could use some equipment on the roof of some sort to break line of sight, and more importantly it would look good

The left building is flat so that separate pieces of terrain can be placed on top. And it's wooden, and it's removable.
