Hello to everyone,
the following photos show my work in progress with my modular table top terrain: each module measure 60cm x 60 cm (they're six for the moment), for a total of 120cm x 180 cm...Because it's "Modular" I can have something like 11 or 12 different ways to "mount" the terrain (11 because one building on module 4 doesn't match perfectly with the others Modules).

The subject is a ruined, bombed, abandoned Imperial city, but not in "gothic Mode", it's more like a WWII German style ...the Modules are:

-Module 1: a piece of the city park, and barracks
-Module 2: it's mostly flat with a part (maybe a little tower or something like that) of the manufactorum of Module 5, and a piece of the city plaza
-Module 3: a piece of the city park, half of big house (for the manufactorum's workers) and a piece of the city plaza
-Module 4: a piece of the city park, a medium size part of the manufactorum, and a ruined church
-Module 5: the manufactorum and a piece of the city plaza
-Module 6: the other half part of the house and a piece of the city plaza

By mixing the modules I can obtain a terrain with the city park in center or split the parts on the four corner of the table, the big house can be just one by taking the 2 half house togeter or a long house if I put the 2 half part one next to other or 2 different house with a central city plaza, the manufactorum can be one big building if I use 3 Modules or I can split them in 3 different pieces...anyway, the modules are studied to be compatible with every other module.

Maybe I make some mistakes with English...sorry, I'm Italian XD

The main structre of the 2 half parts of the big house are completed...they're WIP so there's no details, floors, interior walls, furnitures and all other stuff...

Here I show how thw can be used by splitting them or put them togeter, with some shots to a part of the city park and city plaza...

I would like to suggest making sure that the roof parts are removable for any building where a hand has to reach inside to place miniatures.

Looking great, and I can see the WWII design coming through already!

Awesome work sir!

Are you using styrofoam for material?

Vicenza (Italy)

Yes...styrofoam of 2cm width...in italy there's no thinner...I'm looking 4 something of 1cm or less, but I found just metal or wood...there's something in pastic too, but it's too hard to cut...

sorry, what do you mean?? I don't understand XD
If you mean how I sculpt them, I simple cut the foam with the hobby knife fo half the the width for every "brick", then with the finger I make some pressure to let them to go "inside" the wall a little...

Today's I feel bored to make walls, so I tried 4 the first time to sculpt something...after viewing insaniak's tutorial on making skulls, I've decide to make the adeptus mechanicus one for the manufactorum of the city...It's the first time I sculpt, but after 4 hours of work the results is interesting

Here's the skull before enter the hoven:

New week, New Shots ^^

The main structure of the manufactorum is nearly completed. There's just the rooftop to be made and it will be painted in metal (copper), but not a brand new copper, but an old, oxidized one....something like light blue/green...
The strips on the walls are made in wood (balsa) and they will be painted to looks like white stone (the strips on the sides walls), and iron (the strips on the front and back of the building) I only need to add some rivets...

Now, I've got a vey big problem...first of all I think that the majority of building made for a wh40k terrain are out of scale...still the GW building are out of scale, because to make them in scale the become to be too big...Just try to imagine a manufactorum, I think thant a real manufactorum is big enought to cover the whole table isn't it??Now, In my case I'm trying to do the best to make every building very big, or in any case at least in scale...except for the manufactoum of course, and this is exactly my problem: What to put inside? What does the manufactorum produce? For the size It has, I think just "Hello kitty's Dolls" are the only product it can produce XD weapons or tanks not for sure

Any ideas??

Sorry in advance if I make some mistakes with English

Here are the shots :
