'Lo everyone. Sometime reader, first time poster.

My story is a little sad. Six years ago I got into the 40k scene, built up an army, and I got to mess around with it for about two months before the only supplier and hobbyist hub closed down - I lived in a pretty small town. Now, I've moved to the city and this August a GW distributor opened up about 5min from my abode, so I'm jumping back in!

Space marines. I know it's not very original, but at least I'm making my own chapter.

I'm still deciding on army layout, but I'm looking to make a very mobile force, something modeled after the White Scars. We'll see.

Helloo there,

my advice: unless you have a strong need to support ur local gw distr - in the times of global Interwebs it shud be no problem to research all the stuff you want and simply order online where it is cheapest.

you can still check out ur local store for news and quick supply, but when you wanna save urself some bucks.. well.

have fun

I agree on that point. GW does overcharge where you can purchase some things online and save yourself a fair few £... (or $ in your case, probably).. especially if you're buying in bulk.

It sounds like we're starting to collect at the same time Javelin. Do you have many models yet or..?

Going along with the mobile army motif, I've painted up my first two bikers... first models I've touched in years, but they turned out worlds better than my first attempts back in the day, so I'm happy. I'm working on my 500pt army, so I can get in some early games and re-learn the rules under 5th ed. Of course, with a bike army, that leaves me with, basically, an 11-bike army. Still, nothing ventured.

When I've gotten some experience I'll start towards my 1500, so, hopefully y'all will see me in the Army forum section soon!

Sounds like you'll have some fun with that! What colour scheme did you go with for your chapter? And did you name them yet?

Well, I love the iconography and such associated with the Black Templars, so I made 'em a successor. I wanted something austere and grim, so they're basecoated in Adeptus Battlegrey with white shoulders, and trimmed in Boltgun Metal. I freehanded some black laurels on their pauldrons, they look pretty good. I named them the Chorus Penitentiae.

Ooh Javelin I will need to see pictures when you get chance! ^.^
Since my last post I just took some old space marine models and chaos'd them up. They're sat out back drying in chaos black spray haha. I need to call at GW and grab some paints cause I have little in the way of purple.. (And my army is going to be purple) haha
