First of all, may I say what a pleasure it is to find a forum like this. I would not have found out about it if not for looking up some information on my latest project.

I am truly amazed at the work I have seen on this site, the standard of painting, basing, and conversion is truly breathtaking and inspirational.

Although I have been following Warhammer 40,000 since the heady days of "Rogue Trader" and the now infamous "RTB01" box set of space marines, I have always been more a painter than a gamer - something which may be changing now I have mooved to Duxford and can get the Cambridge most weekends.

Due to this, I have partial armies of :

Space Marines
Tau
Tyranids
and Necrons

I also have odd models from Imperial guard (1 squad plus command, resin Valkyrie, plastic Baneblade "The Emperor's Hammer", plastic Stormlord "The Emperor's Anvil")
Eldar ( various aspect warriors, harlequins, a falcon, and 2 wraithlords - 1 I'm converting to an aspect warrior type with double missile launcher, the other a close combat variant "The Black Knight")
and a Dark Eldar Razorwing from the "Kabal of the Poisoned Rose"

Almost everything I do now is converted in some way, but I lack experience in doing bases that are up to the standard of my models.

Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Firstly, thanks for all the welcomes so far - and the ones to come.

This looks like a great place to be for a modeller like me.

Lord_Osma

Don't know much about blogs, but am certainly willing to post build threads as and when.

I should have a couple of pictures to post tomorrow, one with both schemes for my necrons, and a couple of the super-heavies I have and the Razorwing as it was at the time. (Pictures here made me realise what a trick I missed not having the edges of the wings in metallic, representing the blades evident in the craft's name.)

Also a very friendly chap and always open to other people asking me questions as to how I did something, either build or paint.

Unfortunately I have a butterfly mind, I skip from project to project without a care in the world, so my builds take ages, especially if I seem to get stuck.

I don't consider any of my vehicles complete, and if I have had models painted for more than a coupld of years, I am considering a re-paint of them to bring them up to my current standard, or just to change the colour.

My Tau are currently white/blue, but as I am currently re-doing the vehicles the men will not be far behind. Although in this case, it is more of a tweek than a complete re-paint. After having played all the way through "Mass Effect 2" for the umpteenth time, I found myself sporting a white armour with gray and sort of "Space Wolves Grey" camo pattern to it which I aim to replicate on the tanks and white areas of the Tau armour.

The Tau titan I am currently building I aim to take to Games Day next year, and possibly the Necron one the year after. This is a prime candidate for a build thread here, as I have just started with the ankles and the shield boss, so can take pictures and explain how I have done things so far. The way I go on from here though is a little fluid for the moment, I may be able to get some foam sheeting which will make the shaping of the rest of it quite a bit easier.

Just to let you know, I have some pictures up now in the gallery of both colour schemes for my 'Crons, the "Hammer", and a scale comparison for my scratchbuild titan.

I am asking people if they would vote on the 'Cron colour schemes, to see if they prefer metallic purple or metallic blue. The purple is the old metallic colour "Amethyst", whilst the blue is a mix of "Asurmen Blue" wash and Johnson's "Kleer" floor polish.

Brother Captain scotti.

I feel I have to correct you on one slight point, the models may be from the IG range, but the individual vehicles aren't.

Both the hammer and the Anvil are in fact Iquisitorial machines, from the Ordo Zenos, hence the black/gold colour scheme.

Stayed in the fight despite almost everything the enemy had in range taking a dislike to them in my first ever game of Apocalypse earlier in the year. Drew much more firepower than they should have, which was at least one of the reasons I made them so. Gave our titans a bit of a breather.
