Now, you need to make that Cybersquighound's brother, the entire body mekanikal, and the head a squig.

also, for the Cyboar boyz, have you tried to make one a complete merger of ork, boar, and machine?

Squig-hound is a distinct possibility As for the cy-boar centaur, I've tried a couple of combos, not found anything I like yet though.

Managed to find a few interesting bits on the table, so:

Bit of a cop-out on the old grot, he got a bionik eye and a basic peg-leg. Oh, and cut his blunderbuss down (and bent by the look of the pic). I've got a couple of these old guys and there's not a lot to do with them without major re-sculpting, and I like them so they'll all get similar stuff. Old gollum from the old LOTR range, late 80's, he gets to keep his fish, but gains a gun arm (which I'll have to re-adjust, made the schoolboy error of lining it up with his head and forgetting his pose ), a pointy nose & chin and extended ears. Mainly an excuse to use up a tiny bit of GS left over.

Another old grot with a basic bionik leg, although I've just thought of something else I could do with him. He's an old hanger on from the greestealer section of my old cult, but I might be lazy and just re-paint a few bits. Other guy still needs a claw attached to his arm-piece, and a small counter-balance at the other end maybe.

Another tekkie, wielding a wrench.

Seen the Nob's torso/arm before but it's now found a proper home. Just before I started cutting up some legs for him, I tried a set of biker legs, which gave him a nice gorilla-like stance with that klaw. Just need to tidy up around the back, hang some gubbins off the belt. The gorrilla pose accounts for why this pic looks like he's a head on legs. Honest, it's just the pic.

Another mek for lootas/burnas. Surprise, he's rocking a KMB. Now that I've tied all the KMB's together with the nozzle/barrel I'm wishing I hadn't, and had used those to denote snazzguns for the mekanikus orkus that'll be free-booterz. Having typed that I realise it works better this way anyway - well kinda. Oh well. But I'll try to make the next one with something different.

'Ard boy, I'm thinking he'll get an ammo hopper added and the 3-barreled gun will be a big shoota. The legs were first and were going to hold another mek, but then I spotted the gun-piece and was going to make a mini killa-kan. Trying the gun on top though made me decide to stop there and not add any arms, just some wiring to the head and some exhaust type stuff round the back.

That 'ard boy looks like he will get a-'head' in life... He would go the party but hes got no-'body' to go with.... (sound of wind howling, tumbleweed)

but seriously they are just the sweetest little greenskins ever to replace an arm with a giant drill.

You need to get a squig, remove all the appendges (tail, legs) so it's just a portal-esque ball of ferocious death and claws. Then you attach it to a completely robotic squig-hound body.

And god said: 'Let there be awesome'

Fantastic! Definitely my favourite so far, he's awesome!

Your sculpting is really good too - I thought the bionic eye on the mek was particularly ace, and the nose repairs on the smaller guys. Always look forward to your updates

Apologies for the absence, my phone lines been out for a couple of weeks. Which meant that without wasting time trawling through the forums I could get a lot more done in my hobby time

Or not. I discovered that although there was certainly less procrastinating on Dakka - well, none to be honest - the motivation provided by all you lovely dakkites out there (and you 'orrible lot at the back) there was less modelling too

Now I'll apologise for the shortness here, but I've already spent ages typing up replies and arranging pics only for my browser to crash, so I'll stick this up now and reply later.

Changed my mind

moonshine - he's got the exhaust but not the wires, has also gained a little paint, but there's no pics in this lot, forgot.

Ink - Thanks.

Sage - Well it's recently dawned on me (just as I started this sentence actually) that all I've been doing for the last 30 years is building my bits box up for when I started working on orks (much snappier than the previous paragraph I wrote here ) And yes, I PM'd you between takes.

graven - Cheers! Been hoarding those for some CSM projects that still haven't made it to the desk, so those pesky meks looted them, what can you do? On a side note the boat's pretty musch dry so I'll start moving stuff back into the workroom in the next couple of weeks then I can re-start yours and an00bis' trades.

weety - Oooohh dear At least you had the courtesy to provide your own ghost town though And don't go saying things like that, there's a couple of little ones who've gone all blushing and bashful now, the dok's can't get any sense out of them.

Yggs - So that's where he's from. I guess WD gave a free sample away when it was released, I wondered where I'd got him from. Nothing a nob likes more than a brutal arm Oh, the madness is always there, it just varies in it's depth

Hadouken - well, probably not a traditional squig, but something like that, yeah

neil - Cheers mate!

HA - Have to say I'm not really following you on this one I'm afraid

moonshine/Arakasi/HA - lol, dalorks you say? Well I was trying to find uses for a couple of dalek heads, but I was avoiding the bodies. In light of your comments I will dig them out and check for scale (I seem to recall sizing them up for some Inquisitor scale tech-priests, but can't remember how they scaled).

Scarper - Thanks! I've been fiddling with bionik eyes using the bits of GS left over from working on Dik dastardork's coat.

And now I'd like to show you some pwetty pictures. But I'll just have to use these ones instead.( 'ware the dodgy lighting)

The mek's skin was the result of an interesting technique I stumbled across : 1-Do a reasonable job in a short amount of time when tired. 2-Take pics. 3-look at pics, realise the quick time was due to reverting to dry-brushing and it looks horrible in macro photos. 4-Multiple green washes. 5-Re-paint the majority.

Done at the same time using a similar technique Swapped the green washes for red and swapped stage 5 for more red washes

A sneak peak at Dik, still very much WIP.

Servo-grots checking out a dodgy tanning parlour (hoping it'll cover their blushes)

More 'ardboyz rolling out of the surjikal workshop. Well, pogo-ing out in one case.

Absolutely no idea where I'm going with this, but those servo-grots do so like the idea of flying like the bionikoptas. And it's a hard concept to resist I find

Ok, it'll be an age till my next update as I've got to catch up on a whole load of blogs now

Hey again Monkeytroll! I was just thinking about how it had been an age since you've been online - was hoping you hadn't gone AWOL Glad you've got it all sorted now though. Or have you?! I hate browser crashes, they're so frustrating when you've typed out a bunch of replies, so major kudos for having the patience to do it again!

Love dik dastardork's hat and jacket - he's immediately recognisable even as an ork, so that's some quality sculpting there The pogo bionics on your ard-boy is also a particular highlight. Great to see you back!

goody lots of good stuff matey
i dont know where to start..well as a man wiser than me said , start at the begining.. The skin looks very reasonable ;-) i didnt realise that you didnt dry brush , is it all wet blending then normally ? the mek's arm looks interesting , like some 1950's ray gun !

The grotty night goblin's robe is immpressive , very subtle blending
going there , looks like a renagade admek .

Dik what can i say , mutley would be proud , what a cool looking trench , look forward to seeing it finished off , but i already love his hat !

did yu sculpt the righjt eye of that grot , or is it on the model , regardless these beauties are full of the regular mischief we have come to expect from your crazy bench!

I love this guy , the first pic reminds me of the old rogue trader robot the one with mantis like eyes and backwards knees ;-) , i think this guy is my favourite , great back engine too .

this one looks great , i like the way you use watch cogs for the am joints , there is lots of metal on this guy , what are the parts from, he looks like a bad ass easy riding Mo Fo.

Its grimdark Zebedee! man i swear your creations are getting even more bizzare

and Finally more Kopter grots , he is like a mini something or other , very cute i want one !

Glad you back matey.

Scarper - Well now, it just happened again, just as I went to my gallery to link the last pic. That did not make me happy. Last time the second attempt replies and comments were all a lot shorter, this time they were fairly short first time, so hopefully this time I'll remember what the replies were Glad Dik's recognisable, doing that boosted my GS confidence a lot, not sure whether to build a second Dik klone next or another character. Another Dik would be smoothing out what has already been tried, but I think variety will win out

Yggs - Thanks man, I just had to build the grot-kopta, whatever it turns out to be Just realised it's supposed to have one of the wheelguards from a biker on the front, wonder where that went?

weety - Thanks! Group shot soon. -ish. I still only have two single model units actually completed, and I'd prefer a few more finished ones first I'll check out the state of things next weekend, I should have enough servo-grots finished by then to make a unit (well, iffy on the runt-herd).

neil - Hmm, you got a rather long and rambling answer in my first attempt (that may or may not be a surprise). Think the gist of it was cheers mate

Yggs - Nah, I really should get back to neil

neil - A bit of Mork Morrision to welcome me back, nice This bit I can't recall, I rambled on about dry-brushing enamels 'back in the day', a bit like a drunk uncle in the corner of the room muttering to himself unintelligibly. mumblemumblemumblemumblemumblemumblever them open with a screwdrivermumblemumblemumblemumblemustayed wet for agesmumblemumblemumblemumblemumblemumblemumvery very shiny
No wet blending here though, I'm still working on layering. The mek's arm comes from an eldar warp spider exarch, with Upzag's (or more likely, one of his disciples) trademark KMB gubbinz from the thingummy pylons from the terrain pack wotsit (I may even come back and edit this if I recall the correct terms).
The tekkie's robe was a horrible heavilyover-rushed mess, that was rescued by a lot of red washes. And maybe some sepia. Yay for washes! Washes FTW!
The eye was another leftover part from the trench-coat, really easy. Form the main shape, roll a tiny ball and flatten it against the front. Insert the tip of a needle-nose glue bottle (or similar fine, hollow tube - mine is from Revell contacta glue) and give it a tiny wiggle to help define the lens. Easy. No real sculpting involved.
For the mono-rider, the wheel came from some wheeled version of a Guard heavy weapon, possibly Steel Legion? Forks are from a tech-marine's plasma-cutter servo-arm, torso from a Cryx thrall, buzz-saw from a pit-slave, arm from a necromunda bounty hunter (I think, comes with shotgun) and slugga is an old-skool ork bolter.
Boing! Time to die! said Zebedee.

CK - Thanks! And thanks! and thanks

Sage - cheers guy!

weety - Yes! You must!

and now some pictures...

Your common, or garden cybork. With a TV for a head.
I plan to paint (eventually) the disc hanging on his chest to look like it's rows of sparkling lights.

A trial for the Orkus Mekanikus (Flash Gitz), which for some reason I started painting before finishing building.

Runt-herd, instilling some discipline. Want to add some gadgets and gee-gaws hanging off him, maybe even a book! I want to play up the loremaster side of some of the runt-herds, not fully decided on how just yet.
