That is kludicrous,Horus was the best fighter 1vs1.Maybe followed by Snaguinius,or Angron.Her mmay have been able to take on Angron,maybe winning.Horus would have pissed his armour laughing at Sanguinius.Angron and Horus,Manus and Fulgrim,Corax and Vulkan,Khan and Russ,Dorn and the Lion?You think he could beat any pair their?Maybe Lorgar,Gulliman and Alpharius Omegon,becauase they were aweful fighters.He certainly could have beat Magnus,provided that Magnus fights fair,and does not insult Khorne with his dastardly Sorcerous rubbish.

In my opinion, Horus was the best in terms of overall intelligence and charisma which was why he was the Emperor's favorite.

Of course, Leman Russ and Angron are still better fighters, Magnus a stronger psyker and AlphariusOmegon and Reboute Gulliman better Generals, but overall Horus was the best.

Leman Russ was definatly not the best fighter.Horus was just slightloy better at more or less everything.Just the tinniest bit.A second reason he was the favourite son was because he was found first,so had spent the most time with him.

The quote from Horus, about Sanguinius, "he was the best of us" seems to indicate that Sanguinius was slightly better at more or less everythin, although clearly not best enough. He be dead. Squabbling about who could beat who in a fight is fairly irrelevant. Each of you take the name of a primarch and we'll form a bracketed rock,paper,scissors tournament.

Leman Russ apparently beat Horus in a duel.

And Horus was not slightly better at everything, overall, he was the most effective, but nothing points to him being definitely the best physical combatant, and Magnus was certainly the better psyker (I don't even think Horus had psychic powers before being corrupted, at least not awakened psychic powers).

I have also not seen proof that Sanguinius was the most powerful Primarch either, him being "the best of us" according to Horus does not equal him being superior in everything, he was likely speaking of his character, considering that tends to be how Sanguinius is presented, the most pure of character Primarch. And once more, Corax only thought Sanguinius could "maybe" best Angron, though Angron is kinda overrated too, mostly by virtue of having hype, but having no feats against other Primarchs.

Yes he was talking about his purity and charisma. Sanguinus is my favorite because of that reason, he could not best two primarch's at once. I would however say he was close to the top, and beat angron pre-demon as angron is too undisciplined in 1v1 combat.

This is utter nonsense. They Custodes are vat-grown, they don't have gene-seed, the Emperor is NOT their Primarch.

Yea, the others might actually have some kind of fighting ability, but come on, think about all the jokes those two can play on people. See you don't need to look at which one can kill the other. you need to look at which one would have the most fun messing with their men. Who's the better killer, who cares, who is the ones that can screw with the pizza guy the best, Thats what you have to think about here.

There aren't many Fist players because no one likes to paint yellow... and its kinda hard to have a fist army that isn't that god awful bright yellow... but hey that's just my two cents.

We all go to a party. At the party is a belligerent drunk. I fight him and though my attempt is valiant he beats me to death. Our mutual friend Empy also decides to jump in and after a long fight obliterates the belligerent with his superman eye rays. In the process he is knocked into a coma. A paramedic arrives to take away Empy. In what way does he "save" Empy. All he has done has shown up and wheeled away a body. They have a name for that, ah yes "Coroner's Asisstant"

I think it's actually a whole body...does anyone remember where there was some dialogue between the lords of terra about reviving him, but choosing not to?
Imperial fists should actually be golden yellow, which is still a total pain but not as eye burning.

I'm also sure that the number of votes for Sanguinus is unrelated to the relatively recent release of C:BA. The poll speaks for the bias of the players who voted in it. Including my 17 votes for Sanguinius from my various Dakka dummy accounts.

Next people will be saying that you can't actually vote in this thread because there is still a number of primarchs who we don't know their names. and come on, most of the fluff in the codex chaos space marines, doesn't have anything to do with their primarchs where as the 700 page codex space marine and the 300 page codex blood angels, has all the fluff you could ever want for their primarchs. But hey let the wolves and the vampires fight each other about who is a slave and who should mutate their body to become day walkers. Well, I can see why people would genuinely like Sanguinius, and even though I disagree with them adamantly, I kinda can sorta get why people would vote for Russ.

Though yes, popularity does not mean quality.

Probably the most "honest" votes are probably for Chaos primarchs. I wasnt trying to imply that folks shouldn't vote, just that rampant fanboi ism colors the results. That's why we play 40k so we can be fans of our armies.

Leman Russ, this man did things his way. And was basically Conan in space. He fished up the great Kraken from the seas of Fenris and threw it back in because he thought it was too small. And broke Magnus's back on his knee. And went in -after- Magnus and the Thousand sons with the 13th Company.

Russ was the only primarch to defeat Horus in single combat (and no I don't have a source just a memory), it was his legion that the others feared, he is the only primarch to have been rumoured to have destroyed two entire legions along with broken the back of another very powerful legion.

Conan always won his battles decisively or by fighting dirty, never by getting lucky through a random act of blind flailing (which was probably orchestrated by Tzeench). Tool of Chaos? Or just a tool?
